The O’Reilly Factor usually makes me nauseous. So it was no surprise when I found myself dry heaving during last nights episode. What was a surprise, to me anyway, was that it wasn’t Bill O’Reilly causing me to be ill, it was Laura Ingraham & Ann Coulter. Now I’m sure you all heard about what was said about Sarah Palin, and how they just blew off Bachmann, I’m not trying to go through the details of that again. Maybe its just me, but the media (including fox, if not especially fox) has been pushing Rick Perry as “conservatives answer to Obama & alternative to Romney”. As soon Rick Perry entered the race (probably through one of the many open holes on the border that he refuses to close, or support closing) pundits couldn’t thrust Michele Bachmann aside quickly enough to promote Rick Perry the “Big bad Texas conservative“. But as we learned twice before, not everything in Texas is conservative i.e Bush 41 & 43. So now fox news and the rest of the M.S.M are trying desperately to make this primary a Perry, Romney showdown. Why? Because they know that they can’t lose if Romney wins (even if he wins the general, the liberal agenda wins), and if Perry wins, they’ll lose some but not much. They will do the same thing with Perry as they did with Bush, encourage him to cater to the left and criticize him to death for it. Yes, that means I believe Perry is, as one of my friends put it, “George W. Bush on steroids”.
My point is that I do not believe in settling for the non-conservative candidates before the primary is over, and conservatives shouldn’t and don’t have to, despite what Fox, the M.S.M, Karl Rove, some here at Redstate, John McCainiac, and many others want. No there is still plenty of space and opportunity for REAL conservative candidates like Herman Cain, Michele Bachmann, & yes even the Great Sarah Palin should she choose to enter.
By the way, who the hell cares when Palin decides to get in? If she decides to wait until November, then that’s her and her campaigns’ decision. She probably needs mental and emotional preparation time, considering the fact that she is going to be taking on the M.S.M, Fox news, and the rest of them. It’s an extremely life changing decision that cannot be made overnight, at least not by her. But for Laura Ingraham, Ann Coulter, Erick Erickson, and Karl Rove to go after her because of her indecision or strategic decision is pretty obtuse, in my opinion.
We conservatives have fought too long and too hard to let the R.I.N.O’s decide who the most conservative candidate is. The Great One always reminds us that these people cast Reagan aside in the exact same manner they do Bachmann, Cain, Santorum, and Palin. Instead they promote these gutless R.I.N.O guppies like Bush 41 & 43, Romney, McCain, Chris Christie, and yes Rick Perry (I don’t trust him, sorry). Until the fat lady sings, we need to support the most conservative and articulate candidates we have. After the primary process is complete, we unify behind that person to make Obama a one term president.
