Greetings. Here is this week’s Wuhan Virus Roll Up. Today’s report is titled: “More Human Cost.”

Slide One shows total U.S. Infections and Total U.S. Fatalities. As we’ve indicated previously, both of these numbers are suspect. Total Infections is based on actual tested patients. Some recent studies have indicated that for each confirmed, tested case, there are likely 50 other persons who have had the disease and either were asymptomatic or had a mild case and recovered without seeking medical attention.

The fatalities number is another story. Each day that passes, we recieve new reports of doctors being told to “code as COVID” fatalities caused by other maladies.

Slide Two shows Infections, Fatalities and Newly Unemployed each week. This week’s report added 3,169,000 newly unemployed Americans to this tragedy. At this point, we have (including expected May numbers so far) well north of 30 million Americans who are jobless. to make matters worse, we now have mayors and governors fining and threatening jail time for Americans merely trying to make a living and feed their families. That’s more human cost to the burden Americans are already carrying.

After a conference with the Managing Editor, we have decided that this will be the final report absent some huge change. The numbers are now so hopelessly corrupt that we see little value added by reporting them. Up to this point, we at RedState hope this report has added some more perspective. As always, our prayers go out to those fighting the disease, but also those who are now struggling to make ends meet.
