The Kenosha Mother's Off-Script Plea To Joe Biden Is Solid but She's Talking to the Wrong Guy

The viral clip that is now circulating around the internet of the woman who dropped the question given to her by her activist organization so she can be completely honest with Democrat nominee Joe Biden is being described as “powerful.” To be sure, it is powerful.

That said, the Porsche Bennett’s pleas are going to fall on deaf ears. Biden and the Democrats aren’t the people you speak to when you’re trying to fix the problems this woman listed. If she really wants these things to change, I’m going to have to direct her to the man opposing Biden, President Donald Trump.

As you can see in the video, the woman gets up to ask Biden a question while he was visiting Kenosha, Wisconsin, and taking questions at the Grace Lutheran Church. The question this woman had was pre-prepared by her activist group, Black Lives Activists Kenosha, but we’ll never know what it said. Instead, the woman dropped the question and began making pleas to Biden.

“I’m just going to be honest, Mr. Biden,” Bennett began. “I was told to go off this paper but I can’t. You need the truth and I’m part of the truth.”

“I have to give you the truth of the people,” she continued. “And the truth of the matter is, we are heavily angry. Not angry as to where people say, ‘Oh, they’re protesting.’ There’s a difference between a protester and a rioter, a very big difference. We protest to get our voices heard. We protest to show that not just Blacks are tired of what’s going on.”

“The changes that we want have to be more in effect,” she said. “We have yet to see action. And I was always raised to go off action and not words. Because you’ll be let down every single time.”

“If I was that officer, I would be under Kenosha County Jail right now,” she said. “If a medical examiner does their job and says, I’m ruling it homicide, that’s murder. Why are they not being done the same exact way that me or my brother and sisters out here in this world are being treated?”

“I’m only 31 and I’ve seen enough,” Bennett continued. “It’s not what a lot of people think it is for us. We want the same exact rights as others. We want to be treated just like everyone else.”

Bennet describes a life where she and her fellow community members are turned down for jobs due to their race despite being overly qualified and reasserts that they just want the same opportunities. What’s more, they want their neighborhoods to stop getting taken over by the middle class and affluent people in an act called “gentrification.

“Gentrification has to stop as well. We can’t get that if someone with that voice can’t put that into effect. That’s all we’re asking. We want the same treatment. We’re not asking, oh, put us above anybody. We’re not saying we matter more than anybody. But for so many decades, we’ve been shown we don’t matter. And right now, we just want someone who’s actually going to show and put that action in.”

Bennet has every right to ask what she’s asking for and many of us would agree with her with the exception of a few points. The main point, however, is that she’s talking to a man who has no capability to fulfill her promise, and if we’re being honest, has no will to.

The Democrat party has been in power in many of these cities where the black community sufferers for ages. As has been pointed out many times, the highest crime rates in black communities happen in cities run by Democrats.

Democrats haven’t helped the black community achieve anything in decades except high homicide rates, increased prison times, and unrelenting poverty. Joe Biden’s VP, Kamala Harris, is responsible for throwing minorities in prison for far longer than they should have been in and used them as slave labor for the state of California.

Biden himself helped author the 1994 crime law that incentivized local police departments to lock up as many black citizens as they could, resulting in the mass incarceration that the Clinton administration is now infamous for.

Meanwhile, Trump has gone out of his way to help the Black community as the New York Post notes in an article describing all the things that Trump has done to improve the lives of Black Americans:

His recent police-reform executive order, the First Step Act, released thousands of people from jail (90 percent of whom were black). He has promoted “opportunity zones” that incentivized private investment into marginalized communities, and also increased federal funding to historically black colleges and universities by 17 percent — a total exceeding $100 million, more than any president in history. Meanwhile, the Obama administration infamously removed a two-year Bush-administration program that annually funded $85 million directly to these prized institutions.

Trump is giving Bennet what she wants already by putting Black people in a place of opportunity, and on top of that was already giving Bennet her wish of more employment by lowering black unemployment from 7.5 percent at the beginning of his term down to 5.4 percent. The coronavirus and subsequent lockdowns have hurt these numbers, but once again, the only thing stopping black unemployment from going down again is the blue states enforcing unnecessary lockdowns while they enjoy luxuries for themselves.

Bennet also says she wants to stop gentrification.

For those unfamiliar, gentrification is the act of middle-class and affluent people renovating and rebuilding lower class areas and moving in. The result is that the prices in the area skyrocket, pushing lower class people out of their neighborhoods. I can wholly understand why the poor would hate this. No one wants to be uprooted from their home.

Again, however, the guy to talk to about this isn’t Joe Biden. He would certainly push for city policies to make gentrification much more difficult, but there’s another perspective to look at here.

Under Trump, you’ll definitely have more opportunities, more employment, and fewer taxes. Under Trump, you’ll be far more likely to be able to live in middle-class neighborhoods and become affluent yourselves. Why stay poor? Why not get your own grip on the rungs of the ladder of success and climb it?

I realize this is easier said than done, but it definitely won’t get done under Biden. Democrats aren’t going to make opportunities happen. They’ve proven that repeatedly.

If Bennet wants a better life, as she should, then these questions and pleas should be taken to Trump. At least Trump will listen and act, and as Bennet said, actions are what count.
