A Mentally Deficient Joe Biden Completely Botches Georgia Election Law

Joe Biden isn’t with it, and that includes his breakdowns of major pieces of legislation. One such new law involved a series of election reforms in the State of Georgia. You’ll probably recall the absolute chaos that was the vote-counting in that state during the last election, with most of that chaos happening in heavily blue areas around Atlanta.

Regardless, because Democrats need to make political hay out of everything, they’ve decided to relentlessly lie about the law.

Here are Biden’s comments, and then we’ll get to the debunking.

Let’s start with the premise that this is true just for the sake of argument. Again, it’s not, and we’ll get to that, but let’s pretend.

There are many, many laws surrounding the protection of polling places from undue influence, and while they may seem overly-protective at times, that’s the entire point. These are usually referred to as electioneering laws. For example, a person can’t wear a politically messaged hat within a certain distance of a polling place. You also can’t go around handing people voting tracts in line. In reality, how many would change their votes over those things? Probably very few, but we have those laws to protect the integrity of our election process. Even the possibility of impropriety is supposed to be guarded against.

In other words, if the law did flatly state that people can’t go up and hand random strangers food and water, I’d be perfectly fine with that. That kind of thing is ripe for abuse, and I can think of a dozen ways it could be done to influence the votes of those in line.

Regardless, what Biden said here is nonsense, and it’s what we’ve come to expect from a man with such mental deficiencies. Does anyone really think he studied Georgia’s law? Of course not. Some handler gave him a talking point and he’s delivering it badly.

I’d reference Dan McLaughlin over at National Review Biden’s misleading rant.

Now, first of all, notice what is not prohibited here. Voters can still bring bottled water or other food or beverages with them to stand on line to vote, as people often do when waiting at Disney World or to buy concert tickets or in other public places where people stand on long lines. Voters can still also, if they like, order food; the bill doesn’t stop the Domino’s Pizza man or the local hot dog cart or taco truck from doing business. And if you feel impelled to donate food and drink to voters, you can still do that, too; you just have to give it to the poll workers so they can put it out for general use. The president’s claim that “You can’t provide water for people about to vote” is just false. What you cannot do under the new Georgia law is deploy people in National Rifle Association t-shirts and MAGA hats to hand out free Koch-brothers-financed, Federalist Society–branded pizza to voters.

As noted, not only can you still bring your own food and water, but if you are feeling really generous, you can donate water to those in line still. It just has to be given to the poll workers so that they can distribute it or set it out for self-service. Anyone that was about to keel over from thirst could simply grab a bottle of water in that scenario.

Of course, that’s not really the issue here. There is no epidemic of people dehydrating in voting lines because electioneering laws won’t allow strangers to plug their candidate and hand out water bottles. That’s absolutely what would happen, and we’ve seen that happen with a variety of other things, including giving out gift cards. That’s why Georgia sought to limit who could give out water to those in line. There is no grand conspiracy here past that. It’s simply a check on the integrity of the system.

I’d say that Biden knows that and is just lying, but he probably doesn’t actually know that.
