The Mob Is Already Targeting Mitch McConnell, and He Doesn't Care

As I wrote earlier this morning, the passing of Ruth Bader Ginsburg is a massive political firebomb going off (see A Republican Party That Won’t Fill Ginsburg’s Seat Will Die, and It Will Have Deserved Its Death). Tensions are high as the GOP now has to decide whether it’s going to fulfill the duty it was elected to fulfill. In political terms, there is no choice to be made here except nominating a replacement and voting on that nomination before the election. Whether some Republicans are smart enough to realize that is an open question.

Meanwhile, the left are already threatening riots, violence, and are specifically targeting Mitch McConnell, who will be at the forefront of the coming process.

This trended on Twitter while their “safety team” did absolutely nothing.

That slogan apparently applied to a fundraiser for Act Blue that has now raised over $5M. I suppose that money is going to be set on fire attempting to support Amy McGrath in Kentucky. Regardless, it wasn’t just violent language that made an appearance following Ginsburg’s death.

The mob did actually show up. Unfortunately for them, McConnell was not home and police were everywhere. You’ll note the doxxing of his house’s location. That’s supposed to be something Twitter frowns upon and bans accounts over, yet the tweets are still up as of this morning. The rules simply don’t apply to the left on social media.

For his part, McConnell doesn’t seem to care. He’s been there and done all of this when it comes to people threatening him and his property. He put out a statement last night saying that there will be a vote, period.

This was reported by RedState last night.

That’s the right move and those Senators serving under his leadership should take heed. Republican voters put these people in office for this moment. They can either step up to the plate and swing the bat or pay the price. I believe McConnell understands that and will move forward in swift fashion. The Senate is going to be a circus and he’s more than capable of playing ring-master.

As to the left’s threats to burn it all down, they were going to do that anyway. None of that can be taken into account as a factor in what happens next. Giving in to anarchy is the surest way to get more anarchy. The coming demonstrations at the Capitol should be roundly ignored. The Constitution delineates the power to replace Ginsburg, and the GOP holds both levers of power needed to do so. It’s time to act.
