If you ask your average Never Trumper, or Democrat for that matter, why they can’t stand Trump, you’ll get a myriad of answers. Most commonly, they’ll make some faux moral argument that the President is uniquely “unfit” and has a uniquely immoral past. Therefore, he must be removed. We also see more shallow assertions about decorum and such which ignore that it is not inherently more moral to simply lie to Americans about what Washington D.C. is really like.

But I’d posit that the most common answers to the question of “why they hate Trump” are not the most important or impactful ones. That these people would lie about what’s really bothering them isn’t surprising.

Take Trump’s recent triumph in garnering a deal between the UAE and Israel, which also lead to an avalanche of other normalization moves by Arab countries towards the Jewish state. The President has been nominated for a Nobel Prize for the success.

President Trump has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for helping broker a peace deal between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, according to a report.

Christian Tybring-Gjedde, a member of the Norwegian Parliament and chairman of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, submitted the nomination, Fox News reported.

“For his merit, I think he has done more trying to create peace between nations than most other Peace Prize nominees,” Tybring-Gjedde told Fox News.

The deal that led to that nomination was by far the most significant move toward peace in the Middle East in decades. And that’s precisely why it drove the foreign policy establishment, dominated by the left and Never Trump types, so insane. For years we’ve been assured by their “expertise” that such a quasi-alliance between Israel and the Arabs was not only impossible, but not preferable because it would only inflame tensions with the Palestinians. They were wrong. Again.

Unfortunately for the country, they’ve been wrong many times before. They were wrong about China. They were wrong about Iraq. They were wrong about how to fight in Afghanistan. They were wrong about Libya. They were wrong about the Arab Spring. They were wrong about Iran. They were wrong about Russia. They were wrong about Syria. I could keep going for a few more hundred words just listing major foreign policy failures by those who are held up as our intellectual betters.

Good call there, Bill. Of course, former President Clinton was nowhere near alone in that pronouncement. That’s been the status quo line from the foreign policy establishment for decades now. Look closely enough and you’ll still see them muttering about free trade and China becoming more liberal, even as the communist nation clamps down on its citizens, expands its world influence, and commits genocide.

A more recent example of such idiocy would be the situation in Syria. The “experts” on both sides of the aisle and in the bureaucracies insisted that Assad had to go even though he was by far the most liberal option to remain in power. They insisted that if Trump drew down troop levels, the Kurds would be slaughtered wholesale. In the end, they were wrong about all of it.

In short, our experts have always been idiots and continue to be so. That’s why they hate Trump. This brash, billionaire TV host came in and was able to accomplish things they said couldn’t happen. He was able to dissect the issue with China and move on it while they were still whining about how it would affect the price of flat screens. When everyone at State wanted to keep isolating and pressuring Israel, Trump did the opposite and it worked.

Now, he’s up for a Nobel Prize (which he won’t win because the process is completely political) and it drives them nuts.
