Ted Cruz let it loose on the Senate floor today. This came in response to Democrats playing politics and trying to turn an emergency relief bill into a vehicle for the Green New Deal. Be sure to read my coverage of that here and here.

Here’s Cruz hitting Democrats for their reckless, partisan actions:

The answer to Cruz’s question is absolutely nothing. The airlines can’t just go down to the local car dealership and pick up more “economical” planes to please AOC and her cohorts. That’s just not how it works. Boeing has fallen on hard times after the 737 Max disaster. They are in no position to develop, manufacture, and deliver planes to meet Democrat demands anytime in the next several years. Regardless, the airlines want to save money, which means they are always looking to reduce fuel burns. They don’t need some ridiculously arbitrary Washington dictate to get them to do the best they can. Such would almost certainly bankrupt the airlines in the current environment.

Democrats are playing with fire here, threatening to further destroy the economy while bloating government spending to untold levels. While there’s never a good time for that, this is certainly the worst possible moment in modern history to push the nonsense they are pushing. People are dying, losing their jobs, feeling isolated, and struggling. They need hope and help, not payoffs to unions and the environmental lobby.
