The woman who accused President Joe Biden of sexual assault, Tara Reade, will testify before Congress about her allegations after receiving an invitation from Reps. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA).

Reade, 59, claims that she was sexually assaulted by Biden when she worked as a staff assistant in his Senate office in 1993, allegations that he denies. She is the eighth woman to accuse Biden of sexual misconduct.

“At the invitation of [Marjorie Taylor Greene] and I, and with the blessing of Chairman Comer, Tara Reade will be returning to Congress to give a transcribed interview regarding her allegations that Joe Biden sexually assaulted her,” Gaetz wrote on Twitter.

The invitation was in response to a recent tweet by Reade, who was reacting to reports of the impending arrest of former President Donald Trump by pointing out that the political and media elites took little to no interest in her case compared with the aggressive coverage of Trump’s dealings with porn actress Stormy Daniels.

“So I am not a former porn star nor did I receive ‘hush money’ I was a Senate staffer for Joe Biden when he sexually assaulted me in 1993. To date no investigation, only media attacks and trolls aimed at me,” Reade wrote. “I ask again to [Marjorie Taylor Greene] and [Matt Gaetz], When will Joe Biden be investigated? Thanks.”

Explaining his decision to invite Reade, Gaetz pointed out that her claims have additional credibility as her mother called into a radio show to complain about sexual harassment on Capitol Hill soon after the alleged incident took place.

“No person’s allegation should ever be taken at face value, there has to be review, there has to be corroboration,” said Gaetz. “I took particular note in this matter that Tara Reade’s mom had actually called into Larry King Live to talk about her daughter’s experience as a staffer being sexually assaulted by a powerful man. There seemed to be some real-time acknowledgment that a bad thing had happened here.”

Reade’s mother told King at the time:

I’m wondering what a staffer would do besides go to the press in Washington? My daughter has just left there, after working for a prominent senator, and could not get through with her problems at all, and the only thing she could have done was go to the press, and she chose not to do it out of respect for him.

However, some doubt has already been cast on Gaetz’s invitation after Politico’s Congressional Reporter Jordain Carney reported that when asked about Tara Reade and the invitation, Comer said “I don’t even know who that is.”

“Oversight spox also distancing noting Comer is ‘focused on the Biden family’s business schemes and bank records,'” Carney wrote.

Reade, meanwhile, maintains her allegations and thanked the Congressman and Congresswoman for allowing her to share her story.

“I look forward to answering ALL the questions,” she wrote on Twitter. “I see the Democrats have begun their smear campaign on me already to try to stop me from speaking. It will not work.”
