File this one under “Not At All Surprising.”

At the New York Police Department, officers are retiring at an incredible rate.

It’s not a shock, given the worsening blood between the police and Democratic Mayor Bill de Blasio.

As reported by The Hill, in the last week 179 cops have filed for retirement. That’s 411 percent more than 2019’s unremarkable 35.

The bowing out comes, of course, after violent riots — during which law enforcement was ordered to stand down — as well as the disbanding of the city’s plainclothes anti-crime unit.

The Daily Caller relays that, following that dissolution, Big Apple shootings shot up by more than 358 percent.

Apparently, when you lessen resistance to crime you get more of it.

The Department probably isn’t feeling much support from the $1.5 billion budget slash either.

As noted by RedState’s Mike Miller, even AOC was upset by the proposal:

NYPD Sgt. Mary Frances O’Donnell — a spokesperson for the Department’s deputy commissioner — told CNN the uptick in retirement’s disconcerting:

“While the decision to retire is a personal one and can be attributed to a range of factors, it is a troubling trend that we are closely monitoring.”

Captains Endowment Association President Chris Monahan punctuated badged men and women’s loss of faith in New York’s leadership:

“Of course, cops are retiring at a higher rate. We’ve been abandoned by the NYPD and elected officials.”

Perhaps Mayor Bill just hasn’t gotten around to addressing some of law enforcement’s woes — he’s been busy painting “Black Lives Matter” in front of Trump Tower:

I’m no prophet, but I’d say stay tuned for a whole lot of continuing retirement. And just as much — or way more — crime.
