Sound the Goofy alarm.

Can someone pull the lever?

Here we go:

On Sunday’s Meet the Press, Minnesota Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib said Democrats must go forward with impeachment.

Why? I’m sure they’ll figure that out later.

Host Chuck Todd asked Rashida why she couldn’t get her fellow Partyers on board to give Trump the heave-ho:

“[W]hy do you think you can’t convince a majority of House Democrats that it’s time to impeach?”

She had this to say:

“I think it is moving toward that. It’s going to demand it. It already is.”

The congresswoman also claimed the whole thing isn’t about tryin’ to rectify the horror of the 2016 election. It’s just all about the Constitution and stuff:

“This is not about the 2020 election. It’s about doing what’s right now for our country. This is going to be a precedent that we set when we don’t hold this president accountable to the rule of the law and to the United States Constitution.”

Here’s a bit of the ol’ Dumb:

“[Trump’s] a president that subverts the United States Constitution every single day.”

Why must so many substance-free accusations be flung from the D side of the aisle? It’s as I said here: Democrats seem to believe they should just say whatever sounds powerful whether it makes any sense at all.

It’s the worst politics has to offer.

Along the same lines: Last week, Jeff Daniels — who I very much like — asserted Trump’s re-election would guarantee “the end of democracy” (here). How??

Oh, well. Moving on toward impeachment regardless, Rashida certainly has some radicals on her side.

Al Green’s been singin’ the impeachment song for over a year (here and here).

And back in September, Maxine Waters shouted nuttily — and I quote:

“As you know, there’s a difference in how some of our leadership talk about how we should handle all of this. They say, ‘Maxine, please don’t say “impeachment” anymore.’ And when they say that, I say, ‘Impeachment. Impeachment. Impeachment. Impeachment. Impeachment. Impeachment. Impeachment.’”

Watch her take Crazy to the max(ine) here.

Personally, I don’t believe Democrats are doing themselves any favors. In my opinion, they’d fare better via constructive moves that might win over America. But they appear hopelessly stuck in the mire of regret over their last failed White House bid. And the more they focus on the fact that Trump’s #NotTheirPresident, the more likely he’s going to be again.

And is Rashida Tlaib really just level-headedly concerned about what the Commander-in-Chief”s doing right now? Let’s not forget the first-time congresswoman’s stunning cheer, just after being sworn in in August:

“We’re going to impeach that motherf***er!”

I’m leaning toward No.
