On the video, you can see one of those parishioners, 71 year old Jack Wilson, who was part of the volunteer security at the church, shoot the gunman about three seconds after he starts shooting.

Warning very disturbing and graphic

Wilson owns On Target Firearms, which appears to be a gun range/training facility. He trained some of the other parishioners as well. Wilson has a law enforcement background, he served as a Hood County Reserve Deputy Sheriff and some reports suggest he was also an FBI agent at some point. Wilson is also running to be a Hood County Commissioner. Ironically, his slogan which he had prior to the shooting was “your vote is on target.” He’s also a big Trump supporter. He’s been married for 51 years has raised his family in Granbury/Hood County for the last 42 years, has three daughters, 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Wilson posted about the shooting on his Facebook campaign page.

I just want to thank all who have sent their prayers and comments on the events of today. The events at West Freeway Church of Christ put me in a position that I would hope no one would have to be in, but evil exists and I had to take out an active shooter in church.

I’m thankful to GOD that I have been blessed with the ability and desire to serve him in the role of head of security at the church. I am very sad in the loss of two dear friends and brothers in CHRIST, but evil does exist in this world and I and other members are not going to allow evil to succeed. Please pray for all the members and their families in this time. Thank you for your prayers and understanding.

Authorities said Wilson’s actions and that of the other parishioner helped to save the lives of the over two hundred people in the church.

The two parishioners killed in the shooting were Anton “Tony” Wallace and Rich White.

Wallace, 64, was a deacon of the church and a nurse. Wallace’s daughter, Tiffany, is the woman you see running back to her father to help him. She said that she was able to hold him and tell him that she loved him. White was part of the security force for the church, you can see that he appears to be drawing a weapon when he is shot on the video. But that movement, distracting the shooter, gave Wilson the time to be able to draw and fire.
