Comedy Central host Roy Wood Jr. had a group of black voters sit down and talk about what they thought of the upcoming presidential race.

Five of the six voters had voted for Barack Obama in 2012, the one who did not had been too young to vote.

So Wood asked the panel, “Which candidate do you think best understands the needs of the black voter?”

While he got a mix of answers including Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), when he got to Chris, Chris shocked the panel, because he said Donald Trump.

That caused laughter and the lady in front of him, said “Huh?”

Wood asked the man to explain. Chris was ready and willing to do so.

From Townhall:

“Some of the stuff I’ve heard he’s already doing, like prison reform,” he replied. “He’s been hanging around black people as long as I can remember. They loved him until he ran for president as a Republican. Trump was the man.”

Democrats have tried to memory hole that, but Chris is pretty much on target with that.

But Wood mocked him and asked the others to “Raise your hand if you remember when Trump was the man.” Chris shot back, “Roy knows what I’m talking about.”

From Daily Wire:

Later in the segment, Wood Jr. asked how many of the voters thought Trump would win reelection. Four said he would, prompting Wood Jr. to ask, “Do you honestly think any of these Democratic candidates can beat Trump?” After one voter speculated that the Democrats need to unify behind one candidate, Wood Jr. continued, “So, we all need to agree on who that one candidate is and then all the other candidates support them. Tell me who’s that candidate.” Several names were offered, displaying the fractured nature of the Democratic voting bloc.

That was when Chris finished Roy off, “Trump 2020, baby!”

Wood Jr. walked off the set, then returned to lead the voters in a prayer for Chris:

Father God, we call on you right now to pray for Chris — Chris, close your eyes, we’re praying for you — We ask you, Father God, to help Christopher; Lord, we respect Chris as a voter, Lord, but we just hope that his check-engine light comes on in November on Election Day to make sure that his truck does not start. These and many other blessings we ask in your name, Jesus’ name.

He did concede however that Chris showed that the black vote was not all Democratic or one predictable block.

From Townhall:

“And there’s a lesson for Democrats,” he said. “You can’t win the black vote by pandering because black people are as complex as any other voter base. If you want our trust, make promises you can keep, walk it like you talk it, and above all, keep the faith.”

As we reported, Chris may be one sign of a growing trend because Trump has reached an unprecedented 34 percent black voter approval level according to two different polls.

That spells big trouble for Democrats come the election.
