Cuomo Claims That 'We Didn't Have Hurricanes' Before Climate Change

The climate change gang is much like a cult, demanding complete allegiance to belief, regardless of fact, history or common sense.

Democratic New York Governor Andrew Cuomo showed exactly that during an interview with MSNBC anchor Ali Velshi. He was asked to give an update on the serious flooding that had been happening in upstate New York. He used it as an opportunity to push climate change paranoia.

He claimed that such storms didn’t take place before climate change, according to the Daily Caller.

“Ali, anyone who questions extreme weather and climate change is just delusional at this point,” he said. “We have seen in the State of New York and we have seen — it is something we never had before. We didn’t have hurricanes or super storms or tornadoes.”

Wait, what? Is he kidding?

First, climate has been “changing” forever and storms have existed for as long as the planet has been in operation.

But if he’s talking about the effect of man-made carbon emissions and such things, that’s just patently silly too. Obviously there have been severe storms going back to the dawn of the planet just because that’s what we’ve seen in the time we’ve been on it and had records.

Tyler O’Neil at PJ Media went one better and pulled the records on severe storms going back hundreds of years, before man began pumping any auto emissions or modern businesses spewed pollution into the air.

An analysis of sedimentary evidence from New Jersey showed that a major hurricane struck the New York/New Jersey area between 1278 and 1438, long before the internal combustion engine. Another hurricane tracked parallel to the East Coast with impacts on New England and New York in August 1635. On September 8, 1667, a “severe storm” was reported in Manhattan. The Great Storm of 1693 caused severe damage on Land Island in October 1693. In September 1785, ships crashed into Governors Island as a result of powerful waves reportedly generated by a tropical cyclone. In August 1788, a hurricane struck New York City or Long Island, causing severe flooding and leaving the west side of the Battery “in ruins.”

He also reminded Cuomo he could just have done a google search of the hurricanes in New York.

But facts haven’t stopped Democrats from spreading such nonsense. The current theme is that we only have about 10 years left before we’re doomed. But that’s not even new, really. They’ve been saying that for decades, since they predicted in the 1970s that there was going to be an ice age that would destroy everything. But they’re still pushing it in order to take control over the economy now.
