Bill Clinton knows a thing or two about getting impeached.

The circus surrounding a certain stained dress in the late 90’s had to’ve been a completely humiliating episode for the nation’s 42nd president (condolences to Monica Lewinsky).

And now, #45’s facing the prospect of living with the “I” word — though for very, very dissimilar reasons.

And that reason, it seems to me, is that congressional Democrats have been trying to undo the 2016 election since Day 1.

Impeachment was, in my view, an inevitability as of the official November count indicating Hillary had lost. We were gonna end up here, whether it was Russian collusion (which is not illegal), a phone call to Ukraine, or mismatched socks.

And speaking of a mismatch, here’s Bill giving advice to the President, as reported by The Hill…

During a phone interview with CNN, former President Clinton explained he thinks Trump should do the very thing many Democrats in Washington have refused to do: Look ahead, and focus on getting positive work done.

I give you William Jefferson “It Depends Upon What the Meaning of the Word ‘Is’ Is” Clinton:

“My message would be, ‘Look — you got hired to do a job. You don’t get the days back you blow off. Every day is an opportunity to make something good happen.'”

Can someone get that message to Nancy Pelosi?

Bill also believes Donald should let his people handle the situation:

“And I would say, ‘I’ve got lawyers and staff people handling this impeachment inquiry, and they should just have at it. Meanwhile, I’m going to work for the American people.’ That’s what I would do.”

That last bit — again, terrific words to be poured into the ears of those on Bill’s side of the aisle.

They weren’t hired just to take down Trump (or maybe they were?).

Plus: Election, anyone? Might wanna do something about that.

As for Trump getting stuff done, he and Bill take a contrasting approach.

From The Hill:

While Clinton managed to approve legislation and work through an agenda throughout his impeachment process, Trump has said multiple times he will not work with Congress while the Democratic-controlled lower chamber investigates him. That posture has thrown into jeopardy the president’s efforts to pass a trade deal and approve legislation to lower drug pricing, among other items.

But I ask: Are things very much unlike they were two months ago? Or two years?

There’s been protest from the outset — on the part of the Dems. They’ve appeared determined not to work with Trump on anything.

It’s come across as a commitment to the outcome of Donald J. Trump taking office, then saying to Congress, “How about this?” And the left-wing powers that be responding with Nope. Rinse and repeat for 4 years. Then the declaration: Let’s replace Mr. Do Nothing!

Some have said — perhaps not incorrectly — the real chance for getting down to business was before the midterms.

But now here we are. And we may be stuck in this rut ’til next November.

Of course, Democrats look to have no intention of winning the election.

So there’s that.

Likely facing a woman at the ballot box, Trump is set to beat the pants off her.

Actually, maybe he and Bill aren’t that different after all.

It is at least one thing they have in common. Isn’t it, Bill?
