Hey Nancy! How are your “stimulus funds” working for your Bay Area Folk?

Hey y’all in the SF Bay Area! How was traffic this morning? Bet that the traffic this afternoon will be a bear too.

$787 BILLION in Stimulus Funds. Infrastructure touted as a “large part” – all those “Shovel Ready” projects and such.

Now the Bay Bridge is closed indefinitely. Awesome.

But all is not lost. You can spend all these hours stuck in gridlock with a smile – knowing the Salt Marsh Harvest Mouse is being tended to.

Again, Congratulations, y’all. You elected her. Not me.

Gratuitous insulting is not becoming of RedState

civil truth (Diary) Wednesday, October 28th at 6:07PM EST (link)

This most recent Bay Bridge debacle has nothing to do with stimulus money.

Rather, they found a problem with a supporting bolt on the old structure during the Labor Day weekend closure (as part of adding a new portion) and rushed a repair so as to only keep the bridge closed one more day. This repair failed under high winds (which are not uncommon) and by the grace of God the 5,000 pounds of metal falling 100 feet onto rush hour traffic didn’t seriously injure or kill someone.

I’m sure there will be investigations as to what went wrong, and inconvenience until they reopen the bridge. Again, though, this has nothing to do with Porkulus – rather this whole project has been an example of state bungling and political malfeasance, but that’s another story.

And also, reread the site policies about diaries. This doesn’t fit them.
So rather than spew out your malevolent snark, how about some thankfulness that lives were spared.

But it is fair to compare

Remember how the Minnesota bridge collapse was Bush’s fault because if he hadn’t invaded Iraq the bridge could have been fixed or repaired? Well why not turn the tables and say that any stupid leftie blind one-winged cave bat protecting type boondoggle backed by lefties like Nancy Pelosi and Gavin Newsom and Jerry Brown and Barbara Lee etc. took money away that could have been used to fix the bridge?

But the author mocked Bay Area residents for the event

…that is not analogous. I understand how you might argue that blaming Nancy is payback for the way Bush was treated (though I think this kind of illogic just demeans us).

But mocking Bay Area residents goes beyond the bounds – especially since most do not live in Nancy’s congressional district. That was just plain hostility to people living in the Bay Area for no particular reason. My objection still stands.

And as the title states, it is directed at Nancy and the Mouse.

No disrespect meant to the Bay Area folk (who didn’t vote for her), and I actually have a bit of empathy (is that the word?) for your predicament/plight. I love the city (beautiful), the history, and the Geology of the area. But like some [most] other cities, you have an infestation of some TRULY odd and depraved individuals who have eaten their way to the “top.”

I have several friends that live in the area and are fighting this mess (they have plain given up on driving and have resorted to using BART), however one of them is still enjoying Nancy’s Kool-aid. It has been said here before, by many more (smarter) people than me…You cannot argue with the Liberal Left using FACTS; they care only of emotion.

Civil, I understand and respect your objection, however, I am mocking only those who elected (and continue to elect) the “Nancy Pelosi’s” of the world. Labor Day would have been the perfect time to re-allocate that “little bit of Porkulous” from the mouse to the BBridge.

I betcha that that mouse will still get it’s $30M, CALTRANS will be forced to foot the bill, the Bay Bridge will be fixed (eventually), and it will all stem from the Age of Bush – “Just another GLARING example of the neglected infrastructure that the BUSH Administration left us with.” The DNC Playbook – Ver6.8c, Chapter 5, Page 65, Paragraph 3, Fourth sentence.

I'd missed the part about the salt marsh harvest mouse

civil truth (Diary) Thursday, October 29th at 2:03AM EST (link)

That gives a different perspective to you diary – that of askew priorities and consequences thereof, which fits in with your explanation above.

So I unruffle my feathers. :)

Of course since Caltrans doesn’t own money trees, they’ll just past the new cost along to taxpayers, throwing another anchor to drowning citizens.

…in particular, assuaging guilt by dumping it on everyone else – like what you do in Hearts once you’ve been painted.

I haven't played Hearts in so long...

your analogy flew right past me at first! LOL

When I heard that the BBridge was closed indefinitely yesterday, the only thing that I could think of was, “Well, isn’t that just PERFECT! A mouse gets $32M, but a 70+ yr old bridge cannot be properly repaired with INFRASTRUCTURE STIMULUS FUNDS that my 2 yr old daughter will be paying for well into middle-age.”

Yep, Priorities Askew, you’re darned-tootin’…

Fair enough - I was just trying to bring a little relevance
