in the country I love, a cruel, despicable, famous monster can torture and kill innocent animals for fun and profit, serve a little time, and go back to his favorite hobby and make millions while feigning humility and repentance, all to the applause of his fans. The City of Brotherly Love is embracing someone who displayed anything but love because they want to win the Super Bowl. Granted, there are plenty of people who were and forever will be turned off to Michael Vic because of the atrocities he committed, but there are also plenty who feel that he did his time, so let’s just move on. After all, he’s a football star! He’s a hero!

Wait a minute…maybe it’s not such a great idea to hail this guy as a hero, football or otherwise. When I was watching the press conference where the announcement was made that he’d be playing for Philadelphia, his humility didn’t ring true to me. In my opinion, if he was truly repentant and really wanted to make a positive difference with his second chance, his goal wouldn’t necessarily be to reach stardom again. A more appropriate goal might be to open and run a not-for-profit rescue and no-kill animal shelter. All he really wants is to pick up where he left off before he got caught. Hmmm…take away the blood and gore and it sounds a little like Martha Stewart. And, yes, I realize and acknowledge that many murderers of human beings are let off far too easily in our “justice” system, but that doesn’t excuse this. Where is the real penalty? Sure he lost 18 months, but so what? I’m sure he was a star in the joint too.

And, what’s going on in America when honest to goodness crooks and thugs are in charge of just about everything? We’ve got Chicago hoods running the whole show, and just like they’ve destroyed Illinois, they are intent upon crushing our country and her spirit. I spoke with my mother today. She lives in Illinois and it’s State Fair time. On the news last night the local station made a huge deal about the fact that Blago actually paid $5.00, right out of his own pocket, to get in the gate. Wow! What a great guy! I ask you: why is this news? How about covering the story about all of the people in an around Springfield who are out of work and can’t afford $5.00 to go to the fair? Shhhhh!

Speaking of shhhhh! Have you heard the latest on talk radio? There is a push from the Left to penalize privately owned conservative and/or religious radio stations to the tune of their entire annual operating budget! There is no way these stations could survive. I guess that’s one way to shut them up.

And, I never thought I’d say this, but poor Hillary. Yeah, I know, just hear me out. Hillary Clinton, Secretary of State, “School girl,” wife of Bill Clinton the sleaze, who stole her thunder by being the rescuing hero of Al Gore’s employees, has been so used that my heart sort of goes out to her. (Stop yelling at me! ) She took the dangling carrot of power and fame when it was offered only to find that all of the power had been re-distributed to others in the administration. When was the last time you saw The One and Hill together? Ummmm. It seems that there is no relationship there at all. Lets face it, Obama chose her to get her out of the way. Now, she is no threat at all. Unless………

I keep telling myself that there must be at least one brave, disillusioned, liberal soul out there who is ticked off about being deceived by the Messiah. There must be someone who has had their eyes opened with the news that’s trickling through the msm. Remember Watergate? Maybe Hillary herself will be the one who gets ticked off enough to expose the truth. She was pretty ticked off at the student who mistakenly asked her about what Bill might think. Whew! I bet that lady can be down right scary when the camera is off. She’s definitely got “chutzpah,” as my mom said, you’ve got to give her that much. Do I agree with her politically? No. Do I think she’s a wonderful, selfless person? No. But I can feel badly for her anyway. I’m sure she was positively giddy with the prospect of having all that Secretary of State power and prestige. This has to be tough for her; the bigger the ego…

The new school year is starting up and yesterday I attended a teacher training when a colleague made a comment about how Obama is a socialist. Of course he wasn’t being serious, he was mocking. I did jump in and agree that Obama is a socialist, fascist, and just about every other “ist” out there. He snapped back, “Oh, you must be one of those Rush Limbaugh lovers.” I said that I was and he just shook his head in disgust. I’m sure it will be around the whole school in no time. Oh well, I can live with that.

It’s sometimes difficult to recognize my country these days. It’s embarrassing watching the Organizer in Chief running around the country desperately promoting his programs. It’s unbelievable to me that a monster can be a millionaire hero. It’s crazy that the Secretary of State of the United States of America is viewed as an ineffectual schoolgirl.

I am encouraged, though, by our grassroots movement. We aren’t alone and our voices are being heard, but whether we will be listened to remains to be seen. Like I’ve said before, it’s going to be a long, exhausting 3 ½ years. Let’s commit to pray for each other and the country we love.
