Note: Please see an update at the end of this article for information on how to be a part of the solution to the agenda described herein.
Tonight, I read the passage below to my ten-year-old daughter and asked her what the speaker, whom I did not name, is referring to. Her answer follows.
“It is the grimmest of ironies that one of the most savage, barbaric acts of evil in history began in one of the most modernized societies of its time, where so many markers of human progress became tools of human depravity: science that can heal, used to kill; education that can enlighten, used to rationalize away basic moral impulses; the bureaucracy that sustains modern life, used as the machinery of mass death, a ruthless, chillingly efficient system where many were responsible for the killing, but few got actual blood on their hands.”
My daughter seemed to know immediately what the quote above is in reference to, as did her two older brothers when I asked them. “Abortion,” she said.
I told her it’s not about abortion. It is a quote from President Barack Obama on Holocaust Remembrance Day.
My ten-year-old sees the obvious parallel. Why can’t he?
There is not only a parallel but a connection. These two things — the Holocaust of the Jews and abortion — have a point of convergence. Allow me to explain.
Few people realize that before Hitler became famous for promoting eugenics, it was a popular idea around the world, even here in America, to study eugenics primarily to bring about “racial purity”. It was only after the Holocaust was revealed as the horrific evil it was that eugenics became taboo in America. After the Holocaust, eugenicists as individuals either abandoned their views or advanced their ideas under the radar depending on how passionate they were about it. This is where the birth control movement really gained ground in its popularity as strictly a “human rights” issue as opposed to what it had been before — a tool for “racial purification”. Today, a woman by the name of Margaret Higgins Sanger is credited with the title of “Father” of the birth control movement and with advancing the cause of artificial birth control as an issue of human rights.

Margaret Sanger (photo, left) began as a nurse who, in 1912, started writing articles for a Socialist periodical entitled The Call. Her column, What Every Girl Should Know, was perhaps the first ever to call for a “right to birth control”. Since every Christian Church in the world at that time condemned the use of artificial birth control (the Catholic Church is the only one left that still forbids its use), Sanger had her work cut out for her. She fought the entire Christian Church on it, both Protestant and Catholic, but particularly the Catholic Church since she had grown up in a Catholic family and, like so many fallen away Catholics, resented the Catholic Church’s teachings and the zeal of her Catholic parents. Sanger’s mother had died of tuberculosis, but Sanger blamed her death on the fact that her mother had borne many children. Instead of seeking to address the problem of tuberculosis, Sanger set out to find a “cure” for birth. Her racist views melded with her disdain for child-rearing and resulted in the hideous agenda she is now famous for.
Prior to 1921, immigrants from around the world were pouring into America by the hundreds of thousands every year. Beginning in that year, though, the government began to limit immigration. By 1925, there were strict quotas on the number of immigrants allowed to enter the United States and the quota varied by country. Racism was rampant in America at the time and Sanger was quite vocal about her disdain for minorities whom she called “human weeds”. Sanger even proposed that rewards be given to those who would allow themselves to be sterilized for racial “purification”.
While a “right to birth control” was a novel and somewhat unheard of idea when Sanger began writing about it, eugenics was not. Many advocated it, albeit in various forms. It is helpful, then, to understand exactly what eugenics is. The term “eugenics” is attributed to Francis Galton, a cousin of Charles Darwin, who defined it in 1883 as:
“[T]he science of improvement of the human race germ plasm through better breeding.”
“Better breeding”, of course, can mean many different things to many different people. Sanger used the immigration issue to advance her agenda.
Certainly, Sanger was very much in support of the immigration quotas enacted by the federal government. In “A Plan for Peace”, 1932, Margaret Sanger wrote the following as a goal:
“[T]o keep the doors of immigration closed to the entrance
of certain aliens whose condition is known to be detrimental to the stamina of the race, such as feebleminded, idiots, morons, insane, syphilitic, epileptic, criminal, professional prostitutes, and others [!!!] in this class barred by immigration laws of 1924.”
One of the most interesting facts about Margaret Sanger, a fact that most people do not realize, is that Margaret Higgins Sanger is the founder of Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion provider in the world, which has clinics that are generally located in minority neighborhoods.
Margaret Sanger represents one clear and undeniable connection between the eugenics and racism which spanned the globe during the Twenties and gave rise to the Holocaust in Europe as well as the Holocaust we now have in America, primarily among minorities and the poor. Wouldn’t Margaret be proud of what Planned Parenthood has been able to accomplish in her name?
Yes, they still do it in her name……….and proudly so. Just this month, Planned Parenthood honored Secretary of State Hillary Clinton with the Margaret Sanger Award. In her remarks at the ceremony, Clinton said:
“Now, I have to tell you that it was a great privilege when I was told that I would receive this award. I admire Margaret Sanger enormously, her courage, her tenacity, her vision … And when I think about what she did all those years ago in Brooklyn, taking on archetypes, taking on attitudes and accusations flowing from all directions, I am really in awe of her.”
Yes, there are some courageous folks out there who are angry with her about this, thanks be to God, including Representative Chris Smith who addressed it in a committee hearing later. How ironic that the first African-America president is also a darling of Planned Parenthood. In fact, he pledged to them that his first act as President would be to sign the Freedom of Choice Act into law, a measure that would wipe away all restrictions on abortion and require the taxpayer to fund them. Instead, the movement opted to bring about FOCA incrementally. Obama’s removal of conscience protection for health care workers is a major part of this incremental, yet draconian, change in policy of our government. His disdain for the Catholic Church may not be as overt as Margaret Sanger’s but it is far more dangerous as he is now “leader of the free world” and considers the Church to be no more than a gnat that he can slap at.
Why would an African-American president support Planned Parenthood? Ignorance, I suppose. Who knows? Still, the facts are the facts. The explanations will have to come from the man himself.
I was both proud and unsurprised that my daughter recognizes that Obama was describing abortion in America whether he realizes it or not. A person’s a person, no matter how despised; and people, the most innocent people of all, are still killed in the name of eugenics and racial purity — you can make a donation to Planned Parenthood and earmark it to be used for an African-American abortion – and it is still done in the name of health care. Yes, it’s all true…….but thank the Lord we know the truth and have been graced with the ability to speak out against it. We will never forget the Holocaust of the Jews, and we will never abandon those who are being sacrificed on the altars of Margaret Sanger’s death houses.

lesreaper (Diary) Tuesday, April 28th at 10:45AM EST (link)is alive and well in many other areas. As a member of of MENSA, I can tell you one of the significant groups you can join is an organization dedicated to Eugenics policies in Democratic systems. Eugenics really did get a a bad name with the Nazis, but there are some important issues it raises outside the infanticide. Still, it’s always good that people know the real facts first.

My only problem with Eugenics
jackbenimble (Diary) Thursday, April 30th at 2:55PM EST (link)I come from a ranching background and I understand the positive and beneficial results that can come from a well managed selective breeding program. I can take a stroll down any city street or through the aisle of Walmart and pick out plenty of people whose genes probably are not going to do any favors for the gene pool. In theory, I kind of like the idea of eugenics.
My only problem with Eugenics is that they won’t put ME in charge of deciding who gets to reproduce and who doesn’t and I don’t trust ANYBODY else with that immense power and all its potential for abuse.
It is the potential for abuse that makes the whole thing a non-starter for me. There never has and never will be a human devised method of checks and balances that I would deem adequate protection against these abuses. Better to stay away from it all together.

kyle8 (Diary) Thursday, April 30th at 3:07PM EST (link)Is that it is total crap. There are no pure strains of Humans like there are of dogs and cattle. Furthermore, physical properties, which I grant might be selected for, are not the same as mental properties which was the entire thrust of the eugenics movement.

jackbenimble (Diary) Thursday, April 30th at 3:23PM EST (link)I’m a complete mongrel myself. I don’t believe it things like master races and I don’t think that race even means much of anything scientifically relevant. But I do believe that a couple of smart parents are much more likely to have smart children then a couple of stupid parents are. And its obvious to me that by the time people reach breeding age that we know enough about them to identify the smart ones and the dumb ones.
But I don’t agree with eugenics because I don’t trust anybody not to abuse that power so regardless of our reasons, I guess we have both reached the same conclusion.

Ignorant is not equal to stupid
jackbenimble (Diary) Thursday, April 30th at 7:04PM EST (link)There is a difference between ignorance and stupidity. Ignorance refers to lack of education whereas stupidity refers to lack of mental ability. Perhaps the parents of your genius level friends were ignorant but intelligent. I have known lots of people like that over the years.
No doubt that our economy needs all types of people. But what we could use a lot less of is people that are so stupid that they are unemployable and basically are a burden on society.
Go into a Walmart on the day the government hands out foodstamp cards and watch the people struggle with them. You can recognize these people easily because usually the only thing in their cart is about 30 frozen pizzas. The foodstamp cards work like debit cards with a PIN number and most of the people who have one are barely capable of swiping them and typing in the PIN which means they are not fit for anything. After standing in line behind them for about 10 minutes watching you will be so frustrated that you will be ready to whip out your trusty pocket knife and perform an on the spot castration which I suppose would be Eugenics at the grassroots level.

mom2oneson (Diary) Tuesday, April 28th at 11:53AM EST (link)In nursing school she is praised as some kind of leader in women’s and public health, it’s so sick. So many healthcare workers see abortion the same way as some kind of needed service. Instead of helping the woman’s circumstances that may make life hard for her, they pressure her to get an abortion and send her back to the same circumstances. It’s like some twisted way of doing something so nobody has to be bothered with the young woman and her problems.
Thank you for this diary!!!!:)
You are absolutely right.
Lisa Graas (Diary) Tuesday, April 28th at 12:03PM EST (link)Thanks for your comment. In my post “Sarah Palin’s Choice” I noted that we must love them both. No woman I know of has ever gotten pregnant intentionally so she could have an abortion. There is always some other reason women have abortion because no one really desires it as an inherent “good”. It’s an ugly, hideous thing and we all know it. We must learn to love them both. I know of not one liberal writer who has written an article praising Sarah Palin for carrying Trig to term. I’m open to being corrected on that. People nowadays are like Sanger in wanting to rid the world of “human weeds”, as she put it. We are in trouble with this thinking.
Former Super Model Kathy Ireland Recently Attacked Abortion
Swamp_Yankee (Diary) Tuesday, April 28th at 12:02PM EST (link)This diary reminded of something I read yesterday from a former Sports Illustrated super model:
“My entire life I was pro-choice — who was I to tell another woman what she could or couldn’t do with her body? But when I was 18, I became a Christian and I dove into the medical books, I dove into science…”What I read was astounding and I learned that at the moment of conception a new life comes into being… The complete genetic blueprint is there, the DNA is determined, the blood type is determined, the sex is determined, the unique set of fingerprints that nobody has had or ever will have is already there…
“I called Planned Parenthood and begged them to give me their best argument and all they could come up with that it is really just a clump of cells and if you get it early enough it doesn’t even look like a baby… Well, we’re all clumps of cells and the unborn does not look like a baby the same way the baby does not look like a teenager, a teenager does not look like a senior citizen. That unborn baby looks exactly the way human beings are supposed to look at that stage of development. It doesn’t suddenly become a human being at a certain point in time… I’ve also asked leading scientists across our country to please show me some shred of evidence that the unborn is not a human being. I didn’t want to be pro-life, but this is not a woman’s rights issue but a human rights issue.”
Nice to see someone from Hollywood not fearful of any backlash from the liberal elites.

Sanger's strategy
Menlo (Diary) Tuesday, April 28th at 4:10PM EST (link)Getting the support of blacks was part of Sanger’s strategy. Knowing they were religious people, she would seek “a few black ministers” to spread her propaganda. She knew it would only take a few influential black people to get to the many. It’s not hard to see that strategy playing out today.
However, mention of Sanger also deserves mention of her British counterpart in the UK, Marie Stopes. It’s difficult to argue which one was worse. Stopes may actually trump Sanger on this one, especially when you look at their legacies, influence, and scope today. She is a whole diary topic herself.

Hey, Chuckie
JustLeaveMeAlone (Diary) Thursday, April 30th at 1:25AM EST (link)As a woman, I do have some understanding of this. There are many women who feel “invaded” once pregnant, and they resent that they, alone, bear the physical responsibility of conception. It’s not too hard to see their POV.
And while we can debate that all day long, my solution is that rather than fighting about why the sky is blue, young girls NEED to be taught to RESPECT THEMSELVES and TAKE RESPONSIBILITY for their lives, their bodies, and their choices.
No, this isn’t a rant about “save yourself for marriage”. This is about the cold, hard facts that females have to take responsibility for their bodies and their lives. Personal responsibility. And that they have the right to say NO.
I understand the 16-year-old, mad in love and in the throes of hormones, being talked into “going too far” in the heat of passion. I understand a woman’s violation and helplessness in the face of unsought, unwanted, and unforeseen physical and sexual violence.
But the fact is that, as a woman, I have physical vulnerabilities. And should unprotected sex occur that results in conception, it will be ~my~ problem.
This is what girls need to hear. No, it isn’t fair. But it’s reality — get over it, deal with it, move on.
If you don’t want or can’t have kids, use birth control. Say no. Fight back. And if you are raped, go to a hospital at once.
Abortion isn’t birth control, and two wrongs won’t make a right. Being prepared — physically, emotionally, spiritually — is the best course.

mom2oneson (Diary) Thursday, April 30th at 1:41AM EST (link)She did it and she should deal with it is a bad argument against abortion.
It’s not nice to talk about but many women are dependent on a man for economic survival and they don’t have a lot of choice if they should have relations or not.
Chuckie remember too the idea that pregnancy and acutally the slightest personal sacrifice for anything is seen as some kind of burden in this culture. We definately are not in a culture that encourages people to walk the second mile. Sleep in the bed you made is a bad argument. I think let’s go pick out some cute maternity clothes and let me see your ultrasound pics is a better one.
I agree, mom and JLMA.
Rod_Patrick (Diary) Thursday, April 30th at 5:14AM EST (link)We can’t just say: “it’s your fault and deal with it”. Whenever we do that, the Democrats and liberals are all smiling. They once again have a Potential Recruit from the women voters. This is the reason the Democrats have been so effective in painting us hypocrite and uncaring party.
This is the Republican Party’s weakest side. We need to offer alternatives both “ex-ante” and “post-facto”. We need to offer programs.
We need to establish our own Planned Parenthood in a conservative way. We need to have an activist program of our own that reflects our moral and social values, but at the same time, reflects TRUE CARE FOR THE WOMEN:
1. care for the young girls
2. assistance for pregnant young girls and women contemplating abortion,
3. assistance for young girls and women who went to abortion,
4. support for girls and women who were victims of violence and rape
5. assistance for single mothers.
Abstinence and pro-life principles may be included in the overall program. that covers both health care assistance and other kinds of human development for the women.
There may be some existing small conservative women groups out there. But we have never truly supported them to launch a bigger and wider campaign to offer better support and care for the women than the Planned Parenthood.
I believe that this is one of changes within the Republican Party that we can make to advance our cause.
It’s long been overdue for us.
I agree, but......
Lisa Graas (Diary) Thursday, April 30th at 3:18PM EST (link)….it’s a battle. The message “love them both” doesn’t go over well with either party. When Republicans regained control of Congress after Clinton was elected, they tried to push through a cap on children in the public assistance program. Right to Life fought hard against that.
Democrats want abortion. Republicans do, too, when it comes to supporting unwed mothers. Neither party is going to come on board with the “Love them both” message. That’s what is so sad.
I appreciate your commitment and think we need to brainstorm more on this. But the bottom line for me is the Constitution………..and it protects the babies from abortion. This is the 21st century and we all know when a person becomes a person. Technology has answered that question. An egg is not a person. A sperm is not a person. But we know that when fertilization occurs all the DNA is there even for the fingerprints and the Constitution protects that person. Sadly, I think we have gone so far beyond that basic standard, there may be no getting the country to move away from it, but if we believe what we profess to believe, we have to try.
We reversed the Dred Scott decision which classified slaves as non-persons and look how far we have come. We can do it, but it may take many many years.

mom2oneson (Diary) Thursday, April 30th at 3:48PM EST (link)Do you mean like for AFDC or TANF? That is on the only program I know that stops the increase of an allotment at a certain number of children. With food stamps they get a higher amount for each child and medicaid coverage is given to each child.
If so I don’t see how limiting an increase in TANF means republicans are against loving them both?

I don't think it's fair
mom2oneson (Diary) Thursday, April 30th at 4:16PM EST (link)to say republicans want abortion becuase they wanted more limits on welfare. I don’t thing there should be anything like that at all, where people get cash from the government and I’m pro-life. This is exactly what liberals do they say if you aren’t for these government programs you are against assisting the poor and vulnerable.
family caps
Lisa Graas (Diary) Thursday, April 30th at 5:02PM EST (link)You have the right to disagree but I object to being called a liberal simply because I oppose family caps.

mom2oneson (Diary) Thursday, April 30th at 6:02PM EST (link)I didn’t call you a liberal. I said this is exactly what liberals say becuase you are using the same type of argument/reasoning liberals use. I said nothing about you opposing family caps.
Becuase republicans are for family caps does not mean they are against “love them both” and it does not mean republicans are for abortion. You are equating a gov program/intervention with love them both and being pro-life. You did this to the extreme saying since republicans wanted limits on the program they are for abortion.

Lisa Graas (Diary) Thursday, April 30th at 6:24PM EST (link)Perhaps I wasn’t clear. I had no intention, to be honest, of making this about parties. The point of the article was to reach those who arent’ aware of the roots and current practices of Planned Parenthood. I am a proud Republican and can’t imagine abandoning the party as long as the pro-life plank remains in the platform. There is room for disagreement and debate. I was simply making the point that the child cap would have increased abortion. It was the position of National Right to Life, as well. We fought hard against it while many Republicans fought hard for it. I don’t question their pro-life hearts, just the strategy.
Then that's another problem.
Menlo (Diary) Thursday, April 30th at 7:55PM EST (link)If the Constitution protects the unborn, then it simply requires law enforcement (the President and governors) to enforce it no matter what a court says. What’s more, there has been not a single member of the judiciary at any level who has acknowledged the rights of the unborn, even among those who would have overturned Roe and subsequent cases.
I’ve argued before that pro-life officials lost credibility not in 1973 when they complied with an illegal court ruling that no one with half a brain could declare legitimate law.
The problem is that when there is no clear right acknowledged, there is no realistic merit to the pro-life claim. It becomes as trivial as anti-smoking laws. When a right is acknowledged, then there is no way its implementation can take a reduced priority and/or be subject to majority support.
“The ultimate touchstone of constitutionality is the Constitution itself and not what we have said about it.” -Felix Frankfurter
Lisa, I'm 100% with you
JustLeaveMeAlone (Diary) Thursday, April 30th at 11:31PM EST (link)My only concern is that we are not cold towards girls and women who are pregnant or being forced or coerced into physical acts they do not choose.
If you knew me, you’d know that I have a serious “dead baby” issue. I’ve often said, and I mean, that under NO circumstances would I ever consider an abortion. None. Not even if it meant my own life.
In my own experience and my own family, I’ve seen tough choices made — always in favor of life. Just last year this time, my sister was sweating out the birth of a baby that might have had genetic abnormalities; because of her fragile pregnancy, she wouldn’t even allow an amniocentisis to confirm the issue for fear of triggering a miscarriage.
Doctors outright pressured her to terminate. She said no. I sat up with her many nights as we waited and hoped and prayed. Then she gave birth at 22 weeks, with early signs of encouragement (no genetic problems). I had my new nephew on webcam 24/7 in his NICU, watching every breath, every miraculous movement from something so tiny.
My nephew only lived one month, but his fighting spirit touched my life forever. He was a blessing; and despite the pain, no one in my family would have avoided the experience for anything.
That is but one story — there are more. Like the time I worked in a hospital as a college student studying medical technology; one of my “jobs” was to weigh dead fetuses for the pathologist. Another was to draw blood pre-abortion to test for Rh. My perspective about “a woman’s right to choose” changed forever after the things I saw.
So that’s where I’m coming from; that, and my religious beliefs.
The big “however” for me is when I hear a guy say that they don’t understand a woman’s desire to control her own body. Because putting it that way also conjures up women being pressured into or forced into sex by a partner who thinks it is his “right”. And that raises my hackles.
Also, as mom2oneson pointed out, many women are financially dependent and therefore vulnerable to coercion about sex, pregnancy, heck — even getting their breasts enlarged or getting a tattoo, all because they are told to do so. I have a problem with that also.
So again, I think we need to teach young girls that they need to be responsible for themselves, to count on themselves, and not to depend on anyone else. And that they can say NO.

Lisa Graas (Diary) Thursday, April 30th at 5:14PM EST (link)Your post shows a lack of awareness about the existence of adoption programs and the failure rate of contraception, not to mention the fact that it denies personhood to unborn children.
Adoption
kyle8 (Diary) Thursday, April 30th at 5:38PM EST (link)My wife and I are moving into the fifth year of a nightmare in which we want to become adoptive parents. The hoops you have to jump through are unbelievable.
And there are no children in the USA to adopt despite of what you have heard. (lots of older teenagers, but no children). This is one of the results of abortion.

ktward Thursday, April 30th at 7:59PM EST (link)And precisely why abstinence-only sex education is, as research has proven and the Palin family have become iconic represention of, completely ineffective and counter-productive to those ends.
Are you ready to support comprehensive sex education so we can PREVENT unwanted pregnancies which will reduce the number of abortions due to unwanted pregnancy?
Look at Africa
Lisa Graas (Diary) Thursday, April 30th at 9:48PM EST (link)This is actually one thing I disagree with Palin on because of what we are now seeing in Africa with areas of condom distribution experiencing more HIV-infection and Catholic areas where abstinence-only is taught is seeing a reduction in HIV-infection.
Read Fatal Misconception by Matthew Connelly
McKinley (Diary) Thursday, April 30th at 2:01AM EST (link)Or skim it actually. Its somewhat long and I doubt anyone who didn’t have to read it for grad school made it through the denser chapters on how NGOs get funding, but anyone interested in the relationship between eugenics and birth control should be familiar with it.
Although he is no friend of the pro-life position, at least as advocated by the Catholic Church, Connelly is a top notch and innovative historian who provides additional support for the arguments you made here on the relationship between eugenics and family planning, specifically how a desire to stop poor people from breeding blended somewhat uncomfortably with Sanger’s equally radical agenda.
We will soon see fetuses diagnosed with autism or downs syndrome aborted. I imagine my lifetime will see designer babies become a norm as parents seek to stack the deck for beautiful and intelligent children. The eugenicist movement never went away, its proponents just abandoned the racist undertones of it in the wake of the Holocaust. The logic where a human life only deserves protection from death if it is wanted by others remains.
Given our own ghastly abortion laws, we sometimes overlook the impact of “family planning” agents across the globe. At least 8 million Indians were forcibly sterilized in 1977 and countless millions of pregnencies and babies in China were terminated in the early 1980s under the one child law. From a mixture of racism and Malthusian logic, our own government in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s feared overpopulation of the Third World would cost us the Cold War and destroy the earth. Accordingly, it literally threw billions of dollars at US AID with no oversight on how it was spent and under such circumstances the bluntest schemes promising the quickest fix won out.
"We will soon see..."???
Elizabeth (Diary) Thursday, April 30th at 3:25PM EST (link)Today, 90% of Down Syndrome children are already being aborted due to pre-natal diagnoses.
Also, if you think we only need to worry about “family planning” around the world, you should know that forced sterilizations have already happened right here in America. From the Feb. 16, 2003, Los Angeles Times:
Forgiving me sounding upset about this, but I have a daughter with Down Syndrome and I am very worried about her future, given the direction this country is going.

mom2oneson (Diary) Thursday, April 30th at 4:33PM EST (link)http://www.chask.org/
Is a good organization that tries to reach out at the time of an adverse diagnosis, like when the women has met with the perinatologist. I like them too because their first thing is to help the mother parent vs pushing for adoption like some other places do.
Elizabeth is right many are aborted right now. There are plenty of online forums that discuss these second and third trimester abortions/deliveries..
There is a HUGE need for support here. Even with nice pro-life Christian people there is no support for moms with an adverse diagnosis. I don’t know if people just don’t know what to say or what? People don’t give the usual type of encouragement and celebration when a woman mentions a problem. It’s hard to navigate through the healthcare delivery system, it’s even harder if a girl is young and this is her first time having to do so and at the same time she is being pressured to end the pregnancy early.
Thanks for commenting

Margaret Sanger is one of the most hideous people to ever live...

Death, hate, and destruction is all that are her legacy.

Hillary received Margaret Sanger award
Lisa Graas (Diary) Thursday, April 30th at 6:13PM EST (link)But she is the centerpiece. The annual award given by Planned Parenthood is the Margaret Sanger Award……and Hillary said she is in awe of Margaret Sanger even as Chris Smith quoted to her that Sanger said, “The most merciful thing a family can do for one of its children is to kill it.” They don’t dispute these things, and Clinton specifically didn’t dispute it, but they perpetuate it.
Wait a sec.
ktward Thursday, April 30th at 5:09PM EST (link)We’re supposed to draw some kind of legitimate correlation in that YOUR children equated Obama’s Holocaust comments to abortion?
YOUR children?
Btw, my own kids believed in Santa Claus because I fed it to them.
on children...
Lisa Graas (Diary) Thursday, April 30th at 5:33PM EST (link)I have only told my children what abortion is. I’ve never met a pro-choice child. Children don’t take too kindly to the “anti-child” mindset of it all as adults do. And anyone who tries to convince a child that abortion is okay will be met with a lot of confusion and disgust.
This reminds me
Justin_Case (Diary) Thursday, April 30th at 6:00PM EST (link)of my sister-in-law’s explanation given to her young son when he asked about the hundreds of small white crosses on the lawn of a local church. ( They may have been used to commemorate Pro-Life Month or something similar).
She gave him a very simple explanation without nuance.
'Anti-child' mindset is a myth.
ktward Thursday, April 30th at 8:23PM EST (link)Being pro-choice is not tantamount to pro-abortion or anti-child.
- It means that no legislator or government has the right to dictate the personal choices I or my daughter make as women. Period.
- It means that comprehensive sex-ed should be taught so as to PREVENT unwanted pregnancies, hence, reducing the need for abortion.
I don’t know what age you consider appropriate to discuss the controversial topic of abortion, but it stands to reason that if they’re old enough, in your mind, to discuss abortion, they’re old enough to discuss sex and pregnancy prevention.
Hold On a Minute
navybrat (Diary) Friday, May 1st at 1:00PM EST (link)Ktward, you said, “- It means that no legislator or government has the right to dictate the personal choices I or my daughter make as women. Period.”
Well, then I hope that you would also take that a step further & conclude that the government running your health care amounts to the very same thing. I DO agree with you that sex ed should be mentioned, IN ADDITION to abortion, when bringing up the topic with kids. Kids are going to do DUMB stuff. I know. I sure did my share. It’s up to parents, not a school to teach them these things, though.
Unbelievable
Lisa Graas (Diary) Thursday, April 30th at 6:16PM EST (link)I am shocked that you would compare an explanation of what an abortion is to a belief in Santa Claus.
I submit that any child who is told what abortion is, without any false information whatsoever, will find it to be hideous.
No woman intentionally gets pregnant to have an abortion BECAUSE it is a hideous, awful thing. Yet adults accept it because they have higher priorities than the children being killed.
Spare me the melodrama.
ktward Thursday, April 30th at 8:14PM EST (link)My children did not learn about the controversial nature of abortion until they were in jr. high school. Why? Because there was no need, they learned instead comprehensive sex education and prevention of unwanted pregnancy. But I’m sure had I fed them incendiary rhetoric from a young age they’d be equally as disturbed as this diarist’s children. What kind of child thinks to link a Presidential address about Holocaust to abortion? There’s some twisted subtext there.
Then again, as I mentioned, I fed the magic of Santa Claus to my kids.
I personally could not have an abortion. And when I see the anti-choice movement taking substantive steps to reduce the number of unwanted pregnancies, which will reduce the number of abortions, I’ll be right with you.
Little story: my daughter, at 18 and a virgin, had sex with her long-term boyfriend whom she loved. They both had the benefit of comprehensive sex education, used a condom, and recognized that the condom had broken. She went to get Plan B, which does not ‘abort’ but prevents conception.
She’s now in college, no baby in tow.
Bristol? The child who was raised on abstinence-only sex-ed? Hmm.
Questions, anyone?

A BABY DOES NOT EVOLVE FROM SOMETHING ELSE INTO A HUMAN IN 9 MONTHS…. for you dumb Liberals looking on based on your own Science!!!!!
Nowhere, is there any evidence EVER that one Species has actually given birth (without some human intervention for Cloning or other manipulation FOOLS, so don’t try to go there Idiots) of anything other than its own Species. ktward Thursday, April 30th at 10:11PM EST (link)Your response is so confusingly diffuse I’ll have to pass.
Oh, what the heck, I’ll bite: what does any of that have to do with, as I support, teaching comprehensive sex ed vs. abstinence-only sex ed.
Do you not wish to prevent unwanted pregnancies that might end in abortion?
ktward is another hit and run troll

Is it time for your meds? Shall I get you some water?
Let me get this straight
Jack_Savage (Diary) Thursday, April 30th at 8:50PM EST (link)So you would not personally have an abortion, but it’s OK with you for everyone else to have one? And you don’t think this is a holocaust?
Abstinence fails as a pregnancy preventer? You mean if I don’t have sex, I still have babies?
Are you so out of touch that you don’t realize the hundreds of national, state and local efforts to support mothers who actually make the other choice, and have their child?
And this is great:
“They both had the benefit of comprehensive sex education, used a condom, and recognized that the condom had broken.”
Hmmm…bet Mommy was wishing for a little abstinence then, huh?

One last thing ktward
Jack_Savage (Diary) Thursday, April 30th at 10:29PM EST (link)Before you call all your girlfriends and tell them about the whole truth to power / I got banned thing.
One thing you can do before you go to bed tonight is to call and apologize to your daughter for telling her that protected sex, or unprotected sex with contraception, is no big deal. You see, the loving boyfriend you both thought so highly of has no doubt also made his way through the cheerleading squad, the forensics team and the drama club, as well as the chicks he smokes with during lunch break. When the condom you three were depending on broke, chances are good that she contracted HPV and now has an excellent chance of dying of cervical cancer. Or maybe syphilis or gonorrhea will lurk in her body, undetected, until it renders her sterile.
Nice going, Mom. I am sure you are proud.
I tell you Jack you are GOOD my friend...excellent takedown!..

Details?
ktward Thursday, April 30th at 10:07PM EST (link)I’m sorry, what exactly were the details you learned from me that you didn’t also learn about Bristol Palin?
Was there a term that offended you? Condom?
Your feigned offense is absurd.
It's safe to say
Justin_Case (Diary) Thursday, April 30th at 10:13PM EST (link)that Sarah Palin is not volunteering details of her daughter’s sex life on an Internet blog among a group of strangers.
Has your daughter consented to this?
Of course her daughter hasn't
Jack_Savage (Diary) Thursday, April 30th at 10:16PM EST (link)Assuming she has one.
It's seems to me
Justin_Case (Diary) Thursday, April 30th at 10:48PM EST (link)that she has a daughter. Why else would she take issue with Lisa having a discussion about abortion with her ten year old in the first place?
Ktward can’t comprehend such a discussion because her prejudice against abstinence-only programs prevented her from having had such a conversation with her own daughter. Liberals do not deal in absolutes.
The outrage leftist women feel about the posted topic of this thread is also recognizable in their hatred for Sarah Palin. The smugness on display is really a defense mechanism because women like ktward understand (but dare not admit) that Sarah Palin did the correct thing in the eyes of God by supporting her daughter and giving birth to her son, Trig.
Liberation
Lisa Graas (Diary) Thursday, April 30th at 10:56PM EST (link)It’s strange to me that so many women think say that having children is oppression. My children are my joy. It’s not merely that they don’t deal in absolutes. It’s also the fact that they reject the most beautiful thing ever created — children.
Children have become the enemy — and particularly if they are minorities, disabled, poor or fatherless.
I am a woman, disabled and poor. Should I be killed, too?
I love life. I love who I am. I see value in my life. They are rejecting the weak, and for what reason? Because it is their “choice” to do so.

A Deceived Generation
avgamerican (Diary) Saturday, May 2nd at 1:22AM EST (link)This was an excellent hard hitting factual account of Planned Parenthood and its roots. I wrote a similar article for publication by my local newspaper. It was not printed because I couldn’t make it sort enough, but never the less Mrs. Grass good job. There is another point of cover up by the liberal establishment having to do with the ACLU. They were founded by Roger Baldwin in 1919. Roger Baldwin was a committed marxist and atheist. Is it any wonder why the ACLU files lawsuits to stamp out Christian influence. They believe in using the judiciary branch to suppress religious expression, especially Christianity which they are diametrically opposed to. Yet their roots are never examined with court or public scrutiny. We have an entire generation of watered down educated ignorant Americans which is what this cult of liberal elitist count on.
