From today’s Concord Monitor.
This is good. This is good indeed. New Hampshire Senate candidate Kelly Ayotte was endorsed by Sarah Palin last night.
“It’s my honor to endorse a Granite State ‘mama grizzly’ who has broken barriers, fought off and locked up criminals, and battled all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court to protect the rights of New Hampshire parents – and won!”
While I’m not sure how many people actually rely on endorsements to make up their minds on candidates, this should help shore up any wavering conservatives. You can count me in as one of those wavering conservatives. I like Ovide Lamontange. However, he stands no chance in the primary and having the conservative vote split would usher in one of the RINO’s like Binnie or Bender. Neither one is acceptable. We in NH saw the results of splitting the conservative vote in 2002 when we had a field of good conservative candidates and ended up with Jeb Bradley as our representative.
The statement from Paul “Canada” Hodes campaign is delightful:
“So do we hope Sarah Palin comes to campaign for Kelly Ayotte? You betcha.”
We really hope she comes here as well. Judging from Sarah’s record in endorsements, we’ll take it. I’m more interested in seeing if BHO comes to NH to campaign for Paul Hodes.

irishrebel2000 Tuesday, July 20th at 6:27PM EST (link)It is amazing to me the majority of people who support Ayotte and oppose Ovide Lamontagne do so because they have been told by the political elite he cannot win. This is more frightening when you realize that in the same breadth they say LaMontagne is the better candidate.
The fact of the matter is he is the only candidate in the Senate race who has actually won a state wide race and defeated a sitting Congressman.
The fact that he lost an election to Jeanne Shaheen in 1996 says alot more about 1996 then about Ovide … If losing to Shaheen is the worst you can say about Ovide, then it applies to any Republican who has ever ran a campaign against Shaheen, a list that includes John Sununu, Jr., hardly a lightweight… If that is really your test, no Republican could ever run …
The fact of the matter is that any of the Republican candidates in this race are favored to beat Hodes in the general election
So, if you really want a real proven conservative to represent New Hampshire and not someone who is beholden to the Washington elite who want to buy your vote, then why not vote for LaMontagne ??
FEAR FROM POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC RETRIBUTION
One of the major reasons our country and the Republican party is in such an awful state is because voters have bought (pun intended ) the idea that we need to back the candidate the Washington elite and money men tell us to vote for in our primary.
The end result is we end up with Republicans who talk like Republicans but vote like Washingtonians, the inside elite who trade favors on both sides of the aisle and get rich and fat off of our blood, sweat and tears.
The Washington elite , on both sides of the aisle, are concentrating power more and more power at the highest reaches of government so they are literally deciding which private businesses stay in business and which ones they destroy by either over taxation or over regulation or political earmarks or special favor legislation.
I can understand why government workers or private businesses with federal grants and contracts are fearful that if they really voted for people like Ovide LaMontagne, the political retribution may cost them their jobs and their livelihood. Just ask the car dealers who did not have any political connections or professional federal prosecutors who were replaced by political appointees or the local banks and credit unions who have to pay for mistakes made on Wall Street and in Washington.
But I think it is time we all acted like real Americans and actually opposed this new form of tyranny with all our might and remind these people that we still control our country and our political system and we are not going to cave into political cronies who threaten us. I would rather let the free market with an humane social net decide my economic fate then some government bureaucrat who earns his pay and retirement by taking money out of my pocket and performing the newest form of “social engineering” . This is even more important when it gets to the point when politicians have so much power that people literally fear for their economic existence if they do not vote the way the political establishment tell them to vote.
It reminds me of my college years when I belonged to a labor union and people would always grumble about the union boss. The guy drove around in a Cadillac and had a beautiful house and took vacations to exotic places, all things the other union members did not have. It was obvious the guy was taking bribes. Being the stupid college kid, I said why don’t you get together and pick a guy to run against him and then you will take back control of your union. The answer was anyone who ran against him ended up not being hired on any projects. Thankfully, they eventually got a guy with the intestinal fortitude to run against the union boss and actually defeated him.
I tell you if you actually meet Ovide LaMontagne and talk to him, he will remind you of the kind of guy who will risk his fame, fortune and honor to beat political tyrants, whether they be union bosses or political elites.
Rather than cave into this pressure, we need to resist it with all our might. We need to tell the average guy in the street that there are still good people that run for our highest offices and we need to back them just like those union members stood up to the
Voters still have the chance to tell the Washington elite they are no longer going to control our government and we are still in charge of our state and national government.
The fundamental decision is who is the best candidate to represent New Hampshire in the United States Senate. It isn’t who has the most money or what jobs or political favors or threats the political elite throw at you….
After reading all the posts, I think it is clear if you are an informed, intelligent and heart felt conservative, LaMontagne is the clear choice.
