The powers that be in King, N.C. decided that because of the snow storm that hit them over the weekend, the constitutional rights of its citizens should be suspended. According to a local news story, a state of emergency was declared in King, N.C. on Friday due to the impending snow. Among the restrictions for the citizens subjects were a ban on the selling of alcohol, a curfew, and the purchase of firearms and ammo.
Other restrictions included a ban on the sale or purchase of any type of firearm, ammunition, explosive or any possession of such items off a person’s own premises.
At least they took the Superbowl into account:
Effective Sunday afternoon, alcohol restrictions and a curfew were lifted. All other remaining restrictions would continue until Monday, said Paula May, King police chief.

This is a test........
Kenny Solomon (Diary) Monday, February 8th at 2:51PM EST (link)This is a test of the administration’s Civilian Defense Force emergency alerting system.
It is only a test.
If this had been an actual emergency, open season would have been declared on typical bitter God-clinging gun owners.
Wasn't this settled after Katrina?
IronDioPriest (Diary) Monday, February 8th at 5:01PM EST (link)I thought that the NRA won a lawsuit against the local authorities in Louisiana for infringing on 2nd Amendment rights after Katrina. They went around confiscating weapons, and the court ruling determined that natural disasters or civil unrest was not a justification for the blanket-infringement of 2nd Amendment rights against people who have committed no crime.
Someone who knows more lend commentary, or correct me if I’m wrong.

North Carolina is weak on 2A rights
Doc Holliday (Diary) Monday, February 8th at 10:43PM EST (link)To its North Virginia is much stronger, to its South and West the states are at least better, but they could do more to promote freedom.

NC has been slipping to a deeper blue for a while now...
nessa (Diary) Tuesday, February 9th at 12:02AM EST (link)The combination of growing technical fields in the cities has brought in progressives from the already dying blue states, and the crash and burn of the textile industry has grown and strengthened the entitlement class across the state.
We’re doing everything we can, like this guy. It’s like salmon swimming upstream, we’ll get there, its just a long hard trip.

Well Nessa, it did not help when
Doc Holliday (Diary) Tuesday, February 9th at 12:18AM EST (link)Andy and Opie endorsed Obama. It may not be a mentioned in good company, but illegal immigration is helping with the blueness of NC.
I have a fondness for the state, I support anyone and everyone who tries to put it back on the right track.
Molon Labe!
Thanks Doc, you're right about immigration...
nessa (Diary) Tuesday, February 9th at 1:25AM EST (link)…but I tie that in with the laid off union workers from the textile plants. Many of them, generation after generation, dropped out of HS to take an overpaying and over compensated union job at the mill and now find themselves incapable of competing with the illegals, for any wage. The union influence is dragging the rest of the state down now as the formerly union but always entitlement class (the two go hand in hand) demands more re-distribution from the honest hard working people of the state. Hardly a unique issue, look at the deep blue states… Detroit is worse off than New Orleans, what hurricane hit it? Democrat politicians and their unholy alliance with the “Big Labor”, to couch it in their terms.
