Are we guilty here of “Politics as Usual”

There’s a general theme running through the Republican ranks that we will vote for whomever the nominee is because it will be better than Obama.

How many of you have waffled between one candidate and another over the last months as the playing field slowly thins?  Are we victims of political elite maneuvering to maintain status quo by supporting a candidate that both parties are  happy with because it means “politics as usual”?

That is my fear.  As a constitutional conservative, I can’t be satisfied with politics as usual.  And most here would agree with that.  The left leaning right, combined with the left will continue to inch us closer to financial ruin with little attention paid to the obvious signs of what’s in store for us if we do not change the fiscal course we are on.  It’s clear that all politics on the hill right now is focussed on maintaining status quo.

Constitutional conservatism is the answer to both the left and the right’s cries for justice.  Reestablishing faith in our Constitution will protect both the rights of individuals and the sentimentalities of Americans wanting to help the less fortunate.  It will lift our international economic status so far above all other’s that there can be no doubt of what a free nation, underpinned with a unique blueprint for governance can do to ignite the irresistible attraction to personal excellence.  Let us flush out whom that candidate is.

Troops In Africa… No Really

Is it just me or does anyone else around here believe that sending U.S. troops to Africa is insane?  While debate about the move hasn’t hit mainstream, it struck me that there should be an outcry against this decision so loud as to silence the protests on Wall Street and bring the Super Committee out of it’s back-room trading.

I was one of the military troops committed to train, kill and right the wrongs committed in other countries that are perceived to be a threat to American’s national security and interest.  I’d do it again if I believed it was necessary. Originally, I thought it was.  But, those experiences sparked a journey to rediscover the Constitution and founding principles of this great country.  I believe now that the more we ignore the Constitution in the name of what is “right”, the less we are free as a people and the poorer will become in every way.

Just like the Warren Buffets of the world, as an American, you are fee to give more in taxes.  No one is keeping you from it.  And, as an American you are free to go to another country and join the fight you believe is the good fight for freedom and democracy.  Nothing is stopping you.  Why doesn’t Warren Buffet pay more in taxes and why don’t more people volunteer to fight the despots of the world? I know in WB’s case it’s because he isn’t stupid.  I hope in the case of the average American it’s because there are not that many stupid people in this country.  Though there isn’t much evidence to support the latter from where I’m sitting.  One should always think twice before they spend money or put themselves in harms way FOR ANY REASON.  So should a government.  One could make the argument that our government does, but are there really that many here that believe it?

I am not advocating ignoring the evils of the world.  But knowing our limitations and making sound, sane judgements about what we can and should be doing is essential in insuring that a truly free people remains so.  African?  Africa?  Really?

We need a debate on this that highlights the relationship between our Constitution, our government’s domestic and foreign policy and how those policies continue to erode the standard living in all corners of our society.

“Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.” – George Washington -

Perry and Climate Change

It’s unfortunate that Perry wasn’t credible about his opinions on Global Warming.. ah.. excuse me Climate Change…

It’s such an important issue directly connected with the discussion on jobs and economic prosperity that a candidate who is going make a statement that they believe man made global warming is not a scientific fact, needs to bring out the guns and state why he believes such “nonsense”.

We are not credible when we talk about how we “feel” about something and certainly the public can spot a fraudulent position regardless of how one “feels” about it personally.

If any of Perry’s staff reads RedState, please get some books on the subject and provide some credible scientists names that have stated similar positions supporting the unscientific but political position liberals take on the subject of climate change.  Make it a scientific discussion, not an emotional one, so that opinions can be backed by fact, not feelings.

A place to start would be to suggest for those “non-technical” voters who’d rather read an entertaining education into the world of scientific high finance and political intrigue, as it relates to climate change, State of Fear would be a good read.

For those looking into a more sober and scientific explanation of opinion, try reading from the following list of scientists that have written papers on their opinions regarding climate change:

Garth Paltridge, Visiting Fellow ANU and retired Chief Research Scientist, CSIRO Division of Atmospheric Research and retired Director of the Institute of the Antarctic Cooperative Research Centre.

Antonino Zichichi, emeritus professor of nuclear physics at the University of Bologna and president of the World Federation of Scientists.

Khabibullo Abdusamatov, mathematician and astronomer at Pulkovo Observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

And…

George V. Chilingar, Professor of Civil and Petroleum Engineering at the University of Southern California:

Now certainly there are many more scientist (look up the word for scientist if you need to understand clearly what that means) that disagree with mainstream view.  And, one can look to discredit these esteemed gentlemen from a political point of view, but hardly scientific.  And, if one were to look at the subject from a “common sense” point of view, they could agree with Perry’s statement that the science regarding climate change is not complete, nor settled by a long shot, and certainly not complete enough to set the EPA free to mandate restrictions on human activity that is in line with a very left, liberal and tyrannical leaning mindset to wrench control of our lives and teach us poor dumb folk how to live in a world that they control.

Of course these are just my opinions… and Perry, come on man… you’ve got to better than last night if you want my vote.

I’m still in the MB camp…

Hobbits Saves Middle Earth

I rather like the Hobbits.  They were creatures processed with an important quality unlike any other.  The strength to overcome a powerful evil for the good of all others.  It is not an insult to be compared to Hobbits.  And, shows the ignorance, arrogance and condescension of anyone using such an analogy.

Just a note for those feeling defensive…

And the Winner Is?

Who wins if the will of the American people is ignored?

Bankers?

Wall Street?

Unions?

Special Interests?

No one wins!

This is a significant time in history.  A time easily compared to the days of King George when the aristocracy snubbed a small group of people in a land far away.

We are fully aware that there are sacrifices to be made in the coming years.  Most of us that are aware of what’s at stake are willing to make them if it means protecting our freedoms and self determination.  Self determination?  The single most important attraction for individuals around the world that have flocked to our shores and built this nation.

Our leaders in congress and the house have the opportunity to return this nation to greatness.  All they have to do is take the first step.  CCB is it!!!!

More Innuendoes that Rick Perry’s In!

After reading an AP article by Chris Tomlinson that Rick Perry continues to imply he is going to join the race.  The article itself excited feelings of hope in me as it outlined Perry’s apparent core values.  In the last month or so, I’ve been holding out contributing to any candidate’s campaign though strongly tempted to help MB.  If Perry enters the race, he will get 100% of my support.  While the mainstream Republican party appears to be backing Romney, and if he winds up being “the” selected candidate I will have no choice but to support him.  However, Perry mirrors my values regarding just about everything from State rights to abortion.  Ironically, I was born in Texas but never returned to live after being discharged from the Marine Corp. in California.  Now that California has deteriorated into a classic nanny state and my business is on life support, if I can’t manage to keep the doors open, Texas has been eyed as a likely place to migrate.

As a litmus test of the RS members, let us know your thoughts on the subject now that the race is starting to shape up.  I know other diaries have broached the subject, so lets try to keep this focussed on the subject of core values and Perry’s likely run.

Saying goodbye to RedState isn’t an easy thing to do…

I realize it’s just too reliable a source of unfiltered conservative thought to disregard all together and thus, I’ve decided not to participate in any exchanges or provide my response to others comments or diaries.  Since I have “no point”, there is none in continued engagement.

I’m not going away mad, just disgusted…  The recent exchanges between myself and long time contributors here isn’t worth what little time I have to devote to engagement with this site.  It’s been at times fun and informative.  However, the occasional engagement with embarrassingly narrow minded people make it undesirable to continue in any capacity here.  I’m sure that is precisely what is wanted by those that have entrenched themselves in this community and established a certain notoriety which is obviously threatened by the notion of tolerance, meaningful exchange and useful dialogue.  It’s been a short but beneficial experience. I’ll apply the knowledge learned here to exploring other sites where Constitutional Conservative principles are not drowned out by misguided and narrow minded souls.

Good luck to you all and my best wishes for you missions and goals in the upcoming elections.

And before the vultures dive in and criticize my departure, keep in mind that I am a Republican, devoted to conservative principles and Constitutional governance. Not, a spamer… spamer… spamer… You know, just typing that irritates the hell out of me…

Truly my last two cents…

On the Issues and Extreme Couponing

The first diary I see when I logged on this morning was about extreme couponing (apparently banned as spam).  And I thought to myself “what a coincidence”.  I had dinner with family friends last night who had recently started extreme couponing.  They proudly displayed their stuffed pantry purchased for $4.18.  I was shocked to find that it was a growing trend and took notes.

If we are going to open the conservative “tent” to accommodate the fledgling conservative awakened.  Some people here need to come off their high horse.  Even if the diary warranted being deleted, it did have a significance to our cause and didn’t deserve the negative comments from those mounted on their stately steeds overlooking the posts made on this site (I apologize in advance for that condescending phrase, I really do respect this site and most who post here).

There is a connection between extreme coupling, current economic times, the changing geopolitical face of the world as well as our collective futures and fortunes.  Anyone here that doesn’t see that connection and its importance to the coming elections is truly disconnected from mainstream America.  Perhaps rightfully so considering that it seems mainstream American’s tendency to be “A-Political” plays into the progressive hand.

In that respect, perhaps a discussion on the subject can commence.

My two cents…

History Repeats

Recently I read an article by Victor Hanson Davis (a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution) on the National Review On-line Website entitled “The World Turned Upside Down, Again”. A well written and relevant piece correlating today’s international affairs to history. I highly recommend its reading to anyone interested in a capsulated history lesson communicated with wit and humor.

The article holds particular relevance to me as I am convinced that today’s economic woes are the modern day version of the Great Depression and the events that unfolded shortly after 1929 mark a strikingly similar resemblance to events developing today. Not the least of which is the consistent underestimating of the ingenuity and resilience of the United States, which strikes a hopeful tone at the end of the article.

It took me on a journey through my life of the last 40 years that ended with me sitting on my couch hammering at the keyboard to post this diary. Like most young Americans 40 years ago I was blissfully ignorant of the workings of the world, personal, public and international politics and wanted to be left alone to pursue the American Dream.

My first lesson in international affairs came with a stent in the Marine Corp. visa a life changing experience in Vietnam. Coming back to the states, plopped back into society left to cope with the philological impact of modern transportation’s ability to take a middle-class American youth from an idyllic life of plenty, to one of hopelessness and despair and back again in the blink of an eye.

To genuinely make a long story short, there in lies the beginning of my political awakening to all things in human affairs. Until then, surfing, music, women, wine and fun was my world. I tried desperately to fit back into that world upon my return. It was not to be and my efforts to understand the world I live in have resulted in a broad spectrum of political views distilled to only one today, the Constitution.

Mr. Hanson’s article telegraphs in plain language how history’s undeniable repeating cycle is visible in today’s events. Not the least of which is the comparison of Germany’s role in international affairs over the last 140 years. It’s a fascinating but short read, and I encourage those here interested in such correlations of currently unfolding events to read it. After which perhaps returning to this diary for a lively and hopefully stimulating but civil discussion on our collective futures and the upcoming elections. Why they are as Mr. Gingrich has indicated that they are the most important elections since 1860.

Feel free to comment and I will participate in the discussion if there is any interest in drawing more detailed comparisons of the geopolitical face of the world today and how it will surely change in the not too distant future.

I have started this diary to flush out in not so broad a stroke as Mr. Hanson, the real reasons we need to return to Constitutional governance and the ultimate impact on our lives if we don’t.

Regards to all and here’s to a hopefully informative and educational discussion.

The Rant Turned into a Diary

I was asked to post this rant which was a response to Hunter’s post concerning not having sufficient clout to be aggresive in the telegraphing to our leaders that they are being watched.  The Diary of that discussion is “Republican Austarity” for those interested.

I don’t have the time to go back and clean it up so I apologize if you don’t get the reason for the statements, but you are welcome to read it if it will be of any value.

Here it is:

The White House

Wayne Sunday, April 10th at 11:29AM EDT (link)

has lost all of it’s credibility on the right, much of it’s credibility on the left, it is back stepping and regrouping constantly (the most recent example is Eric Holder’s turning over Khalid Sheikh Mohammed to a military tribunal at Guantanamo of all places) and much to his displeasure (a pleasure to watch). All in a fruitless effort to convince the American people that they are not in fact “stupid” (Libya = Waterloo for Obama just another example). We have the White House and Senate scared, ineffective and confused (from the fear of what has happened in the House. Period! Democrats in the Senate and those remaining in the house are running scared of the potential collapse of their “gains” in the face of a waking American majority.

The Tea Party is actively engaging in the same activist activities that sweep Obama into power. And, all reporting indicates much more successfully. Even the median is confused about how to report the Tea Party from a propaganda POV because it infiltrates every denomination of political and social circles. If you haven’t already, then go to a Tea Party meeting near you and you will see what I am talking about.

The myopic paradigm you have expressed is a weakness we cannot afford. We have the high ground! Now we pursue the enemy until we utterly destroy their chances to reduce the quality of life that is our right to pursue unfettered by government interference. A quality of life that has been lost for most average Americans (and may not be possible to regain in face of the federal debt). It’s really our children and grandchildren’s future we are fighting for. We created this problem, and now it’s time to face it. Unflinchingly, with dignity and resolve.

The political “pragmatism” you are encouraging is wise council, but unnecessary in light of the grassroots uprising sweeping the nation. Even the Unions, State and Federal employees are not immune from the influences of the Tea Party. I have first hand knowledge and experience in meetings where many have been present. I have spoken to many of them myself and found them to be as concerned about the direction our republic is shifting as we are. They are Republicans, Democrats and Independents. But they are too scared of reprisals to “come out”. They are sympathetic, encouraged and engaged in reversing our course even if it means being silent supporters.

None of this doesn’t mean that we can’t conduct ourselves in a civil and respectful way. It does however, mean that we do not have to be afraid to take advantage of our gains. Socialist and marxist infiltrating our government can not do so with impunity. And, that large corporations influencing policy for profit should be held accountable to the American people for their crimes of fraud and collusion to rob the treasury. Bringing them to trial and prison must be as much a part of our move to regain the Republic as capturing the Senate and White House. Not by “Republicans” alone, but by truly patriotic Americans that are living the consequences of generations of progressive policies and thinking. If there is such a thing as Conservative Democrats, they will be the one’s to remain. Remember that the Republican party today looks very much as the Democratic Party did in the 50’s.

Make no mistake, this is something big! Sides are being chosen and it will be important to know which side one stands as the economy and our position as the world’s only true free democratic super power are undermined from the top down! More Americans are learning the truth about what is going on in this country and the world economically every day. And, as that knowledge grows so does our ability to wrench control of our destiny from the Statist progressives that threaten the most successful social experiment in human history. If we don’t act as one powerful and united force, we will all be subjects of the state rather than individual citizens in a free nation.

It’s the Constitution we at the Tea Party are “preaching”, not radical Islam, or revolution, but pure, simply, time tested rules for government by and for the people. We are educating those that have been living the American dream to learn the principles that created it for them and appreciate the lives sacrificed to protect it. Everyday citizens that have been too preoccupied with making a living as “independent citizens” to see the forces at work against them. Forces driven by self-service and greed. Distorted class nepotism insidiously eating away at the Constitutional protections afforded us by the founding fathers. John Adams said that Democracy is destined to commit suicide from within. That is why we are a Republic first and a Democracy second. Or, more accurately “Democratic Republic”.

All this is why we do not need to be afraid to let those “leaders” know we are watching. It should instill fear in them and insure continuing down the path we are turning this behemoth. Though it is too late for many, they will still join the fight!

I apologize for this passionate rant, but your post, stirred something deep in me!
