Why do Democrats Hate Our Soldier’s Kids?

Can we take away every advantage these inner city kids worked so hard to achieve? Why, "yes we can!"

Last Friday the Wall Street Journal once again excoriated the president and his henchmen in that mis-educational system so larded with self-interested union thugs (and other Democrats) by pointing out how these ne’er-do-wells are attempting to kill the D.C. school voucher program that has done so much good for so many minority, inner city kids in the Nation’s capitol.

But the end of the editorial also pointed to the fact that Obama wants to perpetrate the same misdeeds against the educational opportunities of our soldier’s kids. It turns out that because the D.C. voucher program is such a success, military families are asking for a similar program. Democrats and Obama are desperate to head this idea off and kill it before it is fairly born — and Democrats have a lot of experience killing things before they are born, we all know.

As far as parents and kids that have had the benefit of the soon to end voucher program, the whole thing is one they don’t want to lose.

But, what parents and kids want does not interest unions and Obama. In fact, as the WSJ so ably points out, the NEA has even taken to lying to get its way. The Journal quotes the craven union as saying:

“The DC voucher pilot program, which is set to expire this year, has been a failure,” the NEA’s letter fibs. “Over its five year span, the pilot program has yielded no evidence of positive impact on student achievement.”

“That must be news to the voucher students who are reading almost a half-grade level ahead of their peers,” the Journal retorts.

It’s bad enough that Democrats want to place these successful kids back in the failing, inner city schools that plague D.C., but they want to similarly hamper the education of our soldier’s kids. The end of the Journal piece gives us a quick mention of this fact.

The NEA’s letter was a pre-emptive strike against the possibility that 750,000 students in military families would benefit from vouchers. That idea was raised in a Senate hearing this month, when military families explained that frequent moves and inconsistent schooling was harmful to their children. “The creation of a school voucher program should be considered,” Air Force wife Patricia Davis dared to say.

President Obama pledged to support whatever works in schools, ideology notwithstanding. But neither he nor Mr. Duncan have dared to speak truth to the power of the NEA. Military families can join urban parents on the list of those who matter less to the NEA than does maintaining the failed status quo.

This is no less than an Obama/union thug preventive strike to kill any possibility that the D.C. plan could be used to brighten the hopes of our military families who wish for better educational opportunities for their own children. The unions and the anti-kid Obama administration want to stop dead any chance of headway concerning the possible military voucher ideas floated on June 6 by Senator Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.) in a meeting of the Senate Armed Services Committee.

So, one has to wonder, why do unions, Democrats and President Obama so hate the idea that our children, both in the private sector and in our armed forces, might find a better education? Why do these Democrats want our children to fail?

Well, of course the only reason is money. Unions and Obama would rather have full control of the money that is education that they willingly turn a blind eye to the very children they claim to want to help. Yes, it’s all about the cash.

Obama and his Democrats are telling the inner city kids in D.C. as well as the kids of our soldiers to pound sand all the while smiling their wide, toothy grins and pretending that they “care.”

Can we take away every advantage these inner city kids worked so hard to achieve? Why, “yes we can.”

The Repubs. should be able to flatten the Dems with this issue.

IMO, this holding down and holding back educational opportunities for the poor and disadvantaged children is probably the most destructive to their communities. The GOP has a wonderful opportunity to stand up and beat the Dems over the head with the argument that the Dems/Unions do not want their children to get out of the poverty ghetto.

They do not want them to have options for a better school choice; but of course, the politicians are allowed to send their children to the private schools which they can afford, based on the taxpayer dime I might add. Don’t they all get extra cost of living monies for the hardship of living in D.C.?

I’m sick and tired of the political class being the aristocratic class in this country. The rules and laws they enact for us should be applied to them equally.

Typical Democrat hypocrisy

The Obama kids go to Sidwell Friends, as did Chelsea Clinton. The Dem leaders, of course, have no problem sending THEIR kids to the best schools money can buy but won’t extend that same benefit to the very children they are supposedly in office to protect.

Conservatives, Republicans, and the alternative media need to tie this issue around every teachers’ union supporter. It’s an issue we can win with next year.

A GOP Candidate

A smart GOP candidate should wield vouchers like gun in a knife fight.

- Vouchers give you the parent a choice.
- Your child’s education is important to me.
- Vouchers do not harm the public school system, they simply reveal how bad some public schools are.

However…

Being a parent that sends my kids to private school and still pays the taxes to finance the teacher’s unions… privates schools need to be very careful how they handle voucher students.

Some use the voucher program to send their thug to a private school thinking that school can fix 12 years of bad parenting. School will not help these kids. And yet the other kids around them may suffer because of their unruly behavior.

I believe vouchers if they go to all will be the end of private schools eventually. They will all be public and we will lose the freedoms we have with private schools. It might take 50 years but it will happen. I know here where we have a limited voucher program, only the private schools that struggle for enrollment accept them, usually the Catholic ones. You bring up a good point though about being careful, the problem will be how do they expell them or refuse them eventually. Not because they are voucher students specifically but because it’s government money and those darn strings. That is just the tip of the iceberg too, the kid thugs won’t be any headache compared to the gov paid ones. We need a diary apart from these specific bills to write about vouchers or not. :)

Right now I would probably guess that the thugs that the private schools that take vouchers deal with probably come more from a private payer parent that is not involved with their kids, or one where there are crazy custody/family life issues. The process of applying for the voucher and going to meetings just at a chance to get their kid in and turning in income forms etc isn’t usually going to come from a parent that is usually raising a thug.
