I am sorry so many people are without health care, but I have rather good health care because I paid attention in that little thing we call school. There is no reason for me to give up my personal details for the benefit of giving someone else health care. Capitalism and life is a real bear and cry me a river, because there is one thing I know for sure and that is when the chips fall you're on your won kid. It is called living not just surviving.

Man, it is bleeding hearts like yours that ruin the very things you claim to want to fix. Your stupid bleeding heart gives the enormous payouts when doctors and OBGYNs are sued, now you want me to pay for those without health insurance. Make up your mind, lawsuit payouts for malpractice with high cost of health care or low cost of health care and lower life expectancy and quality. Pick one, that is what you will get either way we try your ideas.

Should be a simple fix to put some restrictions in the law without trashing the whole concept of health care reform altogether.

The original post is another example of how Republicans are falling behind by emphasizing negatives without coming up with positive solutions.

So many Americans right now know people who can't get health insurance at all. Telling them to vote against health insurance by warning that the government might know if you've had breast implants isn't a winning combination for November '10 or '12.

Wasn't that case based on a right to privacy law? Now that the government will know who is committing murder of the unborn, they have no excuse to let it continue.

They've got a sordid history of working side by side. Rumor has it there's a restaurant in Georgetown where they had their way with an unfortunate young woman. People still refer to it as the 'Kennedy room.'

I can see the "report" allowed under this to be then used by law enforcement. Which definitely would cause the ACLU to squawk about the Fourth Amendment.

Strange bedfellows. We'll take all the help we can get to stop this travesty.

Coupling this with the FOIA, would this mean anyone's health information is open to the public?

This will be ten times worse. Keep in mind also that the govt. controls some large banks and insurance companies too. That is a lot of financial and other data that they now have access to.
Does anyone remember how when Joe the plumber was becoming a nuisance to Barack Obama how all of his govt. records were laid bare to the press....?
Now that Obama is running two car companies as well just think of all the financial data bases that can be accessed. Credit scores, checking accounts, annual income and insurance data are all available to his auto task force.

...unlike most other presidential candidates in recent history, Barack Obama refused to release his own medical records. Instead he put out a short statement from a doctor saying he was in good health. If it's good enough for the president it's good enough for me.

It'll be interesting to see what (if anything) the ACLU says about this. Maybe they'll join our side on this for their once a decade quota.
