Our stern and earnest president told us that it is time for Americans to sacrifice. Gone are the good times, he’s told us. We are in for austere days, he says. Sacrifice, people, sacrifice. That is the word of the day.
Well, it’s the word for we commoners, anyway. For if you happen to be looking at government don’t expect to find any “sacrifice” going on at any level. In fact, government seems to be a boom business under the president of change and “sacrifice.”
Even CBS News scoffed at the president’s claim that we all must sacrifice when it looked into the flush times that government workers are discovering. CBS found that the average federal worker will see his benefits and pay “leap from $72,800 in 2008 to $75,419 next year.”
Some of the Feds’ hiring increases have been stunning. If you look at the four-year period from 2006 to 2010, the number of Homeland Security employees has grown by 22 percent, the Justice Department has increased by 15 percent, and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission can claim 25 percent more employees. (These figures assume that Congress adopts Mr. Obama’s 2010 budget without significant changes.)
CBS also points out that in a day when folks in the private sector are lucky to even have a job at all, federal workers are seeing a 2 percent increase on average.
And this is just the federal government. With the illicit power granted by state and local governments to employees unions that force ever growing and untenable pension goodies upon themselves and with the so-called stimulus money that is soon to flood into the states being applied to inflate government instead of the economy, we can be sure that working for government at any level is a sweet deal.
What we see here is that President Obama is not helping the economy at all. He is helping inflate the power of government. And, since government is only a drag on the economy, he is making matter far worse than they were.
What we have here with this perpetual Obama political campaign is not president that is a savior of the economy, but one that is the patron saint of the expansion of big government.

New Governmental Revenue Streams
mas1916 Friday, May 29th at 9:12AM EST (link)The tactic of buying votes from one group with the assets extorted from another is not new. Unfortunately, even Team Obama is learning that taxation really doesn’t produce enough revenue to completely take over and ruin the country.
Continuing to move the work force from a privately operated one to a governmental model will require a great deal more revenue. This will require a great deal of additional taxation or inflation (or both). Politically surviving double digit unemployment and inflation will be difficult – even for the Chosen One with his CNN allies.
States are getting in on the taxation act as well though. Several have come up with some exceedingly wild ideas. ( for a list of the top ten taxation targets, you can visit: http://firstconservative.com/blog/political-humor/political-humor-creative-taxation )
Unfortunately for Team Obama and the Democrats, this house of cards will collapse at some point – perhaps as early as mid 2010. The inevitable inflation that will accompany Obama’s spending programs is a HUGE Obama tax increase that the oppressed workers – governmental or private – won’t stand for.
