From his April, 2009 ForbesLife column, "At Large With Christopher Buckley":

"When the histories of the Crash of "08 are written, an unprepossesing 17th Century country hotel in Litle Sturminster Newton, Dorset, England, will be invoked as one of the more unlikely symbols of all that was rotten with American high finance...Last October, just as the U. S. economy was headed into what rapidly became known as 'the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression,' four executives of the insurance giant AIG International, along with four lucky guests, were having a grand old time wining and dining and partridge shooting at Plumber Manor, far from the meddling creditors..."

The whole article, ostensibly a travelogue about "an unprepossesing 17th Century country hotel in Litle Sturminster Newton, Dorset, England," is shot through with this kind of AIG twaddle. Maybe ForbesLife will send him to Deptford to see if it hosted the Last Temptation of Chrysler . What a tool.

Think about it. Who's going to be taking the NY Times' advice regarding anything, including vaction spots?
I only see an upside to this article.

by supplying plenty of tourists with fat wallets. The thugs will steal all the new tourist money, spend the money which will encourage more businesses to locate to the area that can also be robbed. This will lead to additional insurance input to the shop owners who can restock to be robbed again. The uptick in stabbings of foreigners will provide much needed income for the vaunted Public Health Service which everyone knows is the model for the perfect medical system. The increase in crime will require hiring of more unionized police officers in the area.

See, everyone wins.
