NBC Suits Warn CNBC Staff Against ‘Obama Bashing,’ Becoming ‘Too Conservative’

Are "the suits" looking for Rick Santelli's head?

General Electric CEO Jeffery Immelt, thought to be one of Keith Olbermann’s biggest supporters, and NBC Universal President Jeff Zucker are reported to have called some of CNBC’s on-air talent to a secret meeting at least if the The New York Post’s Page Six column for April 16 has it right. The meeting was called to scold the cable yackers for being too harsh on the Obammessiah, with the duo ala Jeffs warning that CNBC is turning into “the Obama bashing network” and that the cable outlet is becoming “too conservative.”

OK… now how did that lefty mantra go again? Doesn’t it go that the media couldn’t possibly be lefitwing because “the suits” that own the media are conservative corporate types? Once again it looks like the truth is a different animal than the leftist trope pretends.

After all, Immelt and Zucker can hardly be considered in the any way conservative yet they do happen to be corporate bigwigs. And in true leftwing fashion, they are trying to push CNBC even further left.

“It was an intensive, three-hour dinner at 30 Rock which Zucker himself was behind,” a source familiar with the powwow told us. “There was a long discussion about whether CNBC has become too conservative and is beating up on Obama too much. There’s great concern that CNBC is now the anti-Obama network. The whole meeting was really kind of creepy.”

Don’t be surprised if conservative hero Rick Santelli is soon to find himself looking for a job. It was Santelli whose comments earlier this year help spur the anti-tax enthusiasm that recently resulted in nearly one million Americans turning out at tax day tea parties all across the country. Apparently the Boss Jeffies weren’t too happy with Santelli’s new found celebrity as a result of his tea party comments.

One topic under the microscope, our insider said, was on-air CNBC editor Rick Santelli’s rant two months ago about staging a “Chicago Tea Party” to protest the president’s bailout programs — an idea that spawned tax protest tea parties in other big cities, infuriating the White House. Oddly, Santelli was not at the meeting, while Jim Cramer was, noted our source, who added that no edict was ultimately handed down by the network chieftains.

Were I Rick Santelli, I’d be polishing up my resume before my more tolerant, more caring bosses decided that my services are no longer required.

Santelli Needing to Polish His Resume?

Hired by Fox in a split second if CNBC decides it no longer needs his services, and at that point a constant on air reminder of the Left’s unflinching control of the message it seeks to deliver.

Are the NBC suits really this dumb?

If they think this would work to silence him, I would bring up the concept of the “Streisand Effect”. To wit, the more you try to get something covered up in the media, the more it gets exposed (especially in the online era). As it stands now, Santelli is an all-too-frequent thorn in the side of the NBC brass and the Obama administration. If they fire him, he becomes an emboldened political martyr with the clout and reputation to pretty much give him carte blanche wherever he lands next, be it Fox, another network (CNN looking for another token character?), or an online presence.

Either way, NBC’s game seems to be to fire him and hope he fades away. As it stands, it’s likely they can only get one or the other.

There's a Corollary Story Accompanying this...

My guess is that Santelli is safe

There is probably one thing GE cares more about than Obama,….PROFITS. Firing Santelli would begin a chain reaction within the on-air talent at CNBC, which would include Cramer, Kiernan, Kneale, Kudlow, and others.

I don’t know how CNBC stacks up against Fox Business and Bloomberg, but I guess they have at least double those two combined. If it becomes just another thought controlled network, then it too will be destined for junk pile of PMSNBC.

A vast fox conspiracy!

How does FOX do it? LOL. NBC suits will step on their own $*&# and drive talent to Fox Business Channel.

I would not to be surprised to see several talking heads jump ship over the next months/years depending on their contract expirations.

I couldn’t imagine Santelli being quiet after being put in the time-out corner. He’ll jump ship.

If you aren’t a cheerleader for the market and the admin you will be reprimanded!

I’ve argued many times before, the group of people to be liberated that would do the most good in the world? Not Iraq, iran, NK, china………its Americans from the MSM.

Fox does it by getting reporters who are willing to "report the news as is".

No embelishment, no “I’m the story” reporters.
And when its “thier” opinion they are reporting on,
they tell you its “thier” opinion.
And if the truth in news reporting makes you conservative, then I see why most newspapers, reporters, networks, cable shows are liberal.
And can one lib tell me why conservative radio media is doing so good,
and there are several of them out there,
and lefties are more or less token radio host, as in the case of Mitch Albom?

They say Republicans are for the rich, Democrats are for the poor.
If they need more voters,
then they have to make more of who they are for.

I don't seem to remember NBC holding any meetings

during the last 8 years with their staff at MSNBC, decrying how they had become a Bush-bashing network, that they had become too liberal, and were beating up on Bush too much. None of those so-called journalists had to polish up their resumes.

This, along with the strong-armed tactics at CNN to supress YouTube videos, should finally dispel the MSM myth that the press is unbiased.

If I were Santelli, I would not wait to get fired: I would leave, with a public resignation letter. (nt)

GE was a recipient of bailout cash,

Husker (Diary) Tuesday, April 21st at 12:17AM EST (link)

and who do you think is going to be a major benefactor of the Obama Green Initiative? GE stands to make a mint with green technology, and they do not want anyone to muck that up.

They Have Run The Entire Company Into The Ground..

they are afraid of alienating the last 2000 viewers they have at MSNBC, CNBC and NBC so they trot out the juvenile potty mouths to drop teabag bombs every third word in hopes of focusing the attention of that particuclar brand of ADHD that finds their networks appealing.

I hope Santelli gets canned. He will be picked up over at Fox Business news in a aheartbeat, so too for Joe Kernan, Michelle Carusa Cabrera and the few others that speak without ideology blinding them.

Immelt is a whining traitor (delas with Iran while they ship IED’s to kill our troops) and in the end his pick by Jack Welch to assume the mantle there is very puzzling. What happened to cutting the bottom 10% every year? How did Immelt manage to fool everyone there all these years?
