Looks like one success for the revitalization of the GOP has been had…
Frederick ousted as Va. GOP chairman
Bob Lewis ASSOCIATED PRESS
RICHMOND, Va. — Virginia Republican Party Chairman Jeff Frederick was ousted Saturday after a troubled 10-month tenure capped by devastating losses in last year’s elections.
The state party’s governing central committee voted 57-18 to remove Frederick after key Virginia Republican elected officials and top party leaders called for him to resign or be fired.
The effort to sack the conservative, often combative and sometimes embarrassing state legislator from Prince William came after 58 members of the central committee signed off on a list of 10 charges against him.
The focus of the allegations was his handling of state party finances.
Mike Thomas, a leader of the movement to oust Frederick, takes over as interim party chairman, a role he has served three times since 2003.

Warner Todd Huston (Diary) Sunday, April 5th at 6:47AM EST (link)I get this picture in my head of Virginia’s victorious Republicans all screaming FREDERICKS BARRED, FREDERICKS BARRED!!!
…OK, you have to be a civil war fan to know why that’s funny. Sorry, that may be too inside.

I'm not so sure that this was the right time for this move WTH
Scope (Diary) Sunday, April 5th at 7:29AM EST (link)Virginia is one of 2 states having Governor elections in 2009. The GOP Chair was just outsted, and taken over by the person who fought to oust him. The list of charges against him were very weak. There is a list of about 10 Republican names to try to replace him at the May Convention. That’s about 6 months before the election. I hope to he!! the new Chair can even get off the ground before then and have a chance at promoting the VA Republican Govenor running. Here are Frederick’s answers to the charges in case any one may be interested.

WTH- You didn't necessarily make it sound like I was a RHINO????
Scope (Diary) Sunday, April 5th at 6:58PM EST (link)You have to be kidding me. Really? If you have read any comments I have made on Redstate, you would have no question that I am so not a RINO. You insult me that you would would say that I am not “necessarily” a RINO. Thank you very much.
My point on my above post was simply to ask Republicans to “stop appologizing for the Republican party”, as we all know what the Republicans have done in the past. Can we ever get beyond the bashing. We have already acknowledged the mistakes, can we get somewhere beyond the guilt phase? The Democrats never appologize for anything Democrats do, no matter how terrible. Some Republicans still have this great need to keep brnging up the Republican mistakes. That was my point!!!!!!!

Warner Todd Huston (Diary) Sunday, April 5th at 7:17PM EST (link)Like I said, I was not talking “to” you. I was trying to talk to the concept of “we can’t get rind of him now.” I let my keyboard get away with me. I do apologize for being so short there. I didn’t realize how it sounded until after I posted it.

I see the ouster of Frederick as a step forward.
Danielle Davis (ocleverone) (Diary) Sunday, April 5th at 8:31AM EST (link)First, it is my opinion of the election of Jeff Frederick was not so much a validation of his leadership but a rejection of the same tired leadership that plagued the RPV. In other words, the votes were necessarily FOR Frederick but Against same old/same old.
Frederick’s antics during the election cycle were enough to make any Virginia cringe. (Being chastized on CNN by McCain, the infamous standing on folding chairs and telling a “joke”, his Op-Ed in the Washington Times on why McCain was going to lose VA (because he wouldn’t listen to him) and on). But usually, it takes a bit longer for us to remove the problem.
By removing Frederick with only 10 months in, I am hoping that we are sending a message – enough is enough.
To me, “consensus” seems to be the process of abandoning all beliefs, principles, values and policies. So it is something in which no one believes and to which no one objects … There are still people in my party who believe in “consensus” politics. I regard them as Quislings, as traitors … I mean it. — Margaret Thatcher
ocleverone- Iagree that Frederick was choosen as an alternative
Scope (Diary) Sunday, April 5th at 7:13PM EST (link)From my understanding, the person Frederick replaced was far worse. Some at Redstate were surely for Frederick’s ouster. My question is, who is going to replace Frederick, and can they get up to speed in time for the November Governors election? Great to oust someone whithout having a viable and already active replacement. To me it’s like shooting yourself in the foot.

Up to speed for what?
Danielle Davis (ocleverone) (Diary) Sunday, April 5th at 8:00PM EST (link)Seriously, how much impact of not having Jeff Frederick at the helm is going to impact the Governor’s race?
He certainly did wonders this last election cycle. /snark
I believe Frederick won’t be replaced until the convention in May and honestly, at this point in time, I am just glad he is gone.
