If so, I was merely suggesting that you be the bigger man in this situation. Yes, call them out for making false charges and poor reporting. But don’t call them the “tin foil hat brigade”.

This was intended as constructive criticism not an attack on you. If it reads that way, I apologize for poor wording.

Your front pager this morning is wonderful. That’s the type of attitude we need to have towards all our party members. Now we have the harder task of trying to live up to it.

By the way, I wonder how you intellectually justify saying I should not “attack” Illinois Review in the same reply in which you attack me? If you are against “attacks” shouldn’t you refrain from them, as well? Doesn’t it make you… well, a hypocrite?

I don’t know what’s more juvenile – Illinois Review’s bruised feelings for being shut out of a planning meeting or your response – filled with histrionics – to their bruised feelings. I’m thus inclined to conclude that Illinois Review might be a juvenile boy and you’re a juvenile girl. Or maybe you’re both just run-of-the-mill drama queens.

It seems that a simple call to the editor of the magazine would have been more appropriate than this – which I think likely only exacerbates the situation.

After reading the reproduced comments from Illinois Review on this entry, I think that your title and response both are WAY over the top. It almost makes me wonder if you aren’t trying to foment a larger controversy because you’re just so tickled that you’re a part of it. That’s certainly the way it seems to me just based upon what I’ve read which, in turn, is based exclusively on the writings that you have provided.

Rahm Emanuel’s seat is never going to turn red if the people working on the campaign can’t keep their eyes on the ball.

Thanks Warner. Your title says a LOT. It was a prevailing theme at the Lincoln Day dinner I attended on Saturday. An oft repeated phrase was “Let’s pledge to not do negative ads during the primaries because we’ll need to support the victor in the general.”

That said, the process is a two way street. You are right to point out that the cries of Illinois Review are, well, stupid based on the evidence. But don’t label them the “tin foil hat brigade”. I know they attacked you first, but we have to resist the urge to retaliate in kind.

The same kind of thing is happening over SB600 (Sen Rutherford was at a different Lincoln Day dinner so I didn’t get to discuss it with him.). We’re attacking the people that are on our side over disagreements in a few policies. We have to stop it. We should question their decisions on issues we care about, but we shouldn’t do it in a way that harms the party.
