Professor Sir Richard Gardner, a leading scientist for stem cell research at Oxford University, England, proposed using parts of aborted fetuses as transplantable material for the ill last week causing great concern for those believing in the sanctity of human life.
Sir Richard called for studies into the feasibility of transplanting fetal organs into adults and found it curious that it hasn’t been done already. He claimed it would take much research to prove the feasibility of the idea.
Imagine what this concept would result in, however. Who cannot realize the Pandora’s box of horrors that would be opened with this idea? Should such an idea take hold we necessarily would find doctors telling mothers that it is OK to abort their children because it “might save a life” all so that researchers would have more fetal material to study.
And it could get even worse if such research would find the idea feasible. We would then end up with doctors pushing abortion so that we could begin to disseminate fetal tissue to prolong other people’s lives. We would therefore be setting up a system of purposefully killing infants to prolong the lives of older humans.
What sort of society kills its young to provide spare parts to make older people live longer?
Add to that the typical human endeavor generally called a black market economy. Who can doubt that at some point people of means would easily be able to buy babies in order to kill them for spare parts once it is proven that fetal tissues can prolong life?
We already have China, one of the world’s largest nations, dealing in black market organs as they kill off political dissidents and criminals in order to sell body parts on the underground market. Without a basic respect for the sanctity of human life, we will get to such a point world wide. It isn’t merely a possibility, it is assured. Human nature must lead to this end — power corrupting absolutely and all.
Where does it stop? What sort of human life is sacred? What type of human life is worth keeping alive with heroic measures and what type of human life is only worth the spare parts it might lend to others? Where does that line get drawn?
How do we know the difference between a fetus that was “going to be aborted anyway” and one that was aborted solely to satisfy transplant needs? How do we know that the mother of that fetus was properly informed of the choices before her and not just cajoled into an abortion to supply “science” with necessary study materials?
Whose fetuses will be aborted most often? Minorities? Will they find their children murdered to supply science at a greater rate than the majority in any given country? How do we assure whose babies are killed with “good” reason?
Well, the issues that this sort of research will open up is a veritable cabinet of Doctor Mengele.
Science is a great thing, we all know. But science cut free of the moorings of morality and a respect for human life is a destructive force that will lead to our demise as a species. Professor Sir Richard Gardner should be excoriated for his inhuman, Mengele-esque musings.

One that has lost any concept of the dignity of human beings and the sanctity of life.

Praying (Diary) Saturday, March 14th at 4:45PM EST (link)period! The whole issue of funding research using embryonic stem cells is tragic, since they have consistently produced tumors when injected in mice, and in the brain and spinal cord of one British boy who received the material experimentally.

Sir Richard, visit the Dominican Republic.
Old_Crow (Diary) Saturday, March 14th at 6:21AM EST (link)And you can see first hand, the horrors of this brave new world of abortion/science/medical treatments. Embryonic stem cell procedures are readily available there and ‘research’ involving aborted babies and babies who died shortly after birth is taking place. If you are interested, check the linkage between some of the Caribbean medical schools. Of course, close your eyes to the young girls (many are Russian for some reason) who are paid to get pregnant and then abort their child to provide research material.
A nasty and horrible business practiced by monsters worse than Mengele.

Much has been written,
USNJIMRET (Diary) Saturday, March 14th at 9:43AM EST (link)in various genre’s, about the idea of science advancing without a morality based ethics to guide/constrain it.
Seems to me that if ‘scientific’ research is left to itself, it can do great and wondrous things.
At what cost?
That’s where the ethics, or lack thereof, come in.
A bad, ugly and global society changing scenario is all to easy to imagine.
And, worse, likely as not to happen.

Un Blanking believable...
Wing Zero (Diary) Sunday, March 15th at 7:41PM EST (link)On June 11th, 2008 I recieved a kidney transplant. This kidney was from a soldier that had died after coming home from Iraq. This soldier is my hero.
Now, I’m all for stem cell research. I’m of the belife that one day, doctors will be able to take a cell from my body and grow a new kidney or even two and I will be free from dialysis and immunosuppressants.
But I WILL NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES take that kidney if it came from an aborted child. It sickens me to thing that doctors and researchers see unborn children as playthings in petry dishes.
jeannieology, you hit the nail on the head. I can’t think of life without my Daughter, who is a Miracle of God.
As someone who fits the liberal definition of someone that can speak on this issue, I’d stand infront of congress and the President and tell them I’d rather live on dialysis and die of kidney failure than take a cure found from the murder of innocent lives.
1-21-09 – We are so screwed… Wait… maybe not just yet.

mom2oneson (Diary) Sunday, March 15th at 8:01PM EST (link)Why the surprise?
Menlo (Diary) Sunday, March 15th at 10:18PM EST (link)Note that this is the UK. We know what goes on with Chinese prisoners, and we saw above this kind of thing happens in the Dominican Republic. I’ve read where some nations were using aborted babies for cosmertic treatments. Did people here honestly think the UK was that much more a moral, decent, or just society? The nation jails people who speak their minds and criminalizes Christianity.
It’s only fitting this should happen in the UK.
-It has western Europe’s highest abortion rate (exceeding our own) and a sky-high off-the-charts repeat abortion rate.
-It allows on-demand abortions later than any other European nation.
-It has since the 60′s been an abortion “mecca” for those who live in countries not allowing abortion (or not allowing it late enough).
-The government responds by seeking to ease abortion restrictions (the only one of which is a doctor has to do it).
-They have the highest teen pregnancy rate.
-The government’s sex education teaches pre-teen children that abortion is a normal part of life, which it apparently is in the UK.
-The “health” minister advises parents to “not teach their children right and wrong” when it comes to sex education.
-People who demonstrate or speak out against abortion get put in jail. It is a criminal offense. They recently let one man off by denying him life-saving hospital services.
-Parliament recently rammed through a bill to allow these mad “scientists” to mix humans and animals for experiments, even though they admitted it probably would not lead to much. At the same time, they almost unanimously voted down an amendment to drop the abortion limit from 24 to 22 or fewer weeks.
-A postage stamp was recently made to honor Marie Stopes, the eugenicist Margaret Sanger of England, whose abortion business is the Planned Parenthood of the eastern hemisphere (and who has a cozy relationship with Chinese “family planning” officials).
This thing will get near unanimous approval from their Parliament and every government official so fast it will make your head spin.
Marie Stopes would be proud.
On the other hand, I can see how there would be outrage from a good number who favor abortion. It undermines the notion that the baby is not a whole distinct human. If the abortionist asked or told women about this “donating” option, the abortuary might have to be open about its “work” and perhaps lose a sale.
