Let's get something going again in this party! It's not going to be changed by the people who are already there. They don't know how to fix things or they already would have.

Become one of the precinct committeemen that get to vote. Call your county Republican party and talk to the county chairman. Chances are there are precincts in your county that need someone to fill the committeeman slot. You won't be able to get elected to a precinct outside your own, but you can get appointed to any empty precinct in the county.

By the way, what part of Illinois are you in?

I'm in East Peoria (Tazewell county).

I think by the end of Obama's first term the whole national government will look like Illinois: tax cheats, kickback corruption, lobist influnce peddling and a few sex scandals thrown in here and there.

I think we're already starting to see a backlash against the naked corruption surrounding Obama. This could be the opening the GOP needs to stop the runaway train.

As an Illinois Republican in the heart of Republican Illinois I am incensed at the behavior of Republicans here. Why can't Michael Steele put some pressure on these people to do anything. Has the Republican party completely given up on Illinois? Dick Durban is calling for the fairness doctrine to return, we have Roland Burris in the Senate, there is no viable Republican candidate for Governor, there is no and I mean no hope of unseating an unpopular Cook County Board Chairman. This list goes on and those are only the current problems! I did not even mention the corrupt republicans who get in bed with the democrats in power. Illinois truly needs a power to the people moment.

Excellent post.

What's striking is how the festering swap of Illinois politics can infect the whole country. If people want to know what to do to fight the runaway train that is the Obamulan Empire they can start at the local level.

They need to support good solid candidates at every level because, as we all know only too well, today's state senator could be tomorrows President.
