In the nasty, give-no-quarter attitudes found on most left wing blogs which governed democratic response to our 43rd President, you soon found your minority position growing even more. The country has handed to you this election (and not because you weren’t liberal enough). Now we’re in an economic crisis and two wars. Obama has shown an idiotic, marxist approach. He’s chosen widely panned left-wing nominees and has not reached out to the GOP. His approval numbers are understandably going to fall. If you choose to only carp and snipe, especially blaming Bush’s foreign policy and Karl Rove politics, then prepare to lose even more support in 2010. You’ll have richly deserved that outcome.

there is no risk in stating the obvious. The risk is in pretending it isn’t really obvious. In recovery it’s called “the elephant in the room”. And it isn’t going to go away.

Two examples: Jimmy Carter. His bumbling foreign policy gave us the middle east problems we’ve got today. (Reagan had a couple of chances to fix the problem – Beirut Marine Corps bombing & IDF having PLO bottled up in a fight to the death – and blew those.) Bill Clinton. Let’s prosecute terrorist instead of killing the bastards set the stage for 911.

In neither case would Republicans have made the situation worse by going for the throat over completely inept policy decisions. We didn’t and we’re paying the price and will continue to pay it.

Perhaps, and only perhaps, BO would defend us in the event of a major attack on US soil. A minor attack, a series of minor attacks, or an overseas attack on US interests will be pretty much ignored.

And EVERYBODY knows it. At least everybody outside our shoreline. And you’re absolute right, weakness invites aggression. And for that reason we should be doing everything possible to let the rest of the world know that we too know he’s an empty suit and we will not stand for him sell out our national interest.

Nothing we can do will weaken BO. That’s the equivalent of feeding me a double whopper to slow me down before fighting Mike Tyson.

We should be about the business of demonstrating every day that he does not have the support of all Americans and that his policies are wrong and dangerous. I absolutely do not want him to be successful in any sense of the word. My goal would be to have the name “Obama” forever linked to failure. I’d be happy if he was specifically told by Democrats to not attend future conventions.

Pray tell what kind of chance the Donks gave GW when elected or EVER during the past 8 years?? Republicans & conservatives have an OBLLIGATION to oppose this president based upon what he has promised to do to overthrow our Constitutional freedoms during the campaign and those insidiously dangerous ideas found in his books and interviews given that have surfaced to tell us what the man is really all about! Every Republican should remember that the Founders expected each branch of government to be a check and balance against the others lest one should become too powerful and usurp the rights of the people. If Obama is damaged in the eyes of the world and weakened because people stand hard and fast on preserving the Constitution and hindering his administration’s ability to undermine or destroy our God given liberty, then so be it!
To oppose him in the halls of Congress on those points is exactly what we elected them to do, and I shall expect them to carry out that mandate!

Black Republican posted a diary which, for whatever reason, made me so furious that it actually had a negative effect on my day. I am going to take a couple of weeks to get though this hero worship posing as an inauguration by reading the conservative literature I have purchased and finishing the syllabus for the class on conservatism I vow to teach this year.

Having said that, this says it quite well for me regarding the issue of whether to give BO a “chance”:

“Fight him and his minions over everything… any time, any where
Go to sleep each night proud of how you fought him
Wake up each day asking only how do I fight him once again?”

However, we have Guantanamo in Cuba so we could have theoretically kept Fort Sumpter in an independent nation of South Carolina. If nobody fired a first shot, the war could’t have started. If US troops started shooting, Kentucky might have seceded in addition to the other states that seceded.
