I should have realized that the interpretation that told us that what we were doing was okay was the right one and the interpretation that told him that what he was doing was okay was the wrong one.

One could ask if someone who believes in the literal truth of the Bible could watch television.

One could ask if someone who believes in the literal truth of the Bible could wear a Hawaiian Shirt that has boats and flowers on it.

One could ask if someone who believes in the literal truth of the Bible could help a Samaritan beaten up on the side of the road if it were the Sabbath.

There are a lot of ways to come to a lot of conclusions about how, no, my interpretation of the Bible is the right and proper one and the only way that anyone could reach your interpretation of the Bible is if Satan Himself were whispering in your ear.

Personally, whenever someone says “I’ve made a careful reading of this book and it tells me that I’m totally okay and you totally need to change your life”, I tend to find that much, much less impressive than “I’ve made a careful reading of this book and it tells me that I totally need to change my life.”
