As to “no exciting bailout news”, the only thing that would excite me about the bailout mess is if they all came to their sense collectively and put a stop to it.

“french” is a well-deserved derogatory term. It does not mean that every French person ever born is bad, but the crappy treatment the US has gotten from France and the French has earned them the spite that we give them.

Argue any angle of this you want to, but nobody is going to be moved to not diss the French.

it’s OK for Congress to consider a cautious approach as long as someone else is in hot pursuit of the pirates. If he speaks about two opposed concepts he benefits by being right , no matter which may the wind blows. After all, if he would take a single position then he would have to defend it instead of being able to freely attack others.

He APPEARS to be saying that “hot pursuit” should be used while pursuing pirates in the coastal waters, but that if they make it to shore without being apprehended, caution should be used in pursuing them onto land. This seems like a pretty reasonable position.

Also, as someone who is about an eighth french, I object to the use of “french” as a derogatory term. It’s one thing to make a joke about them not having done well in a war for 200 years, it’s another thing to turn the actual ancestry into a negative connotation.

Franscois considers this a police matter.

“You gotta be smart.” certainly disqualifies Kerry from planning any action.

…and that is: “Court Martial.”

By adding in the “exercise caution” bit, good ole Mr. Kerry effectively rescinded his approval of hot pursuit action, and gave himself (or someone similar) the task of (or ability to) review every single action after the fact and, based on whims, media attention, or “international opinion,” to try to convict soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines for simply doing their jobs.
