Australian blogger Jo Nova provides a quick recap to help the casual reader keep track of the recent Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) scandals.
The Four ‘Gates’ of the IPCC
Let’s see. There’s
- Climate Gate, showing that the peer review process has descended into a criminal farce of scientific malpractice …
- PachuriGate, showing that the man in charge of the IPCC was chairman of boards of companies that profit handsomely as the scare-factor is ramped up…
- GlacierGate, about the IPCC “accidentally” using a World Wildlife Fund report instead of peer reviewed science… And now…
- AmazonGate: The IPCC fabricates disastrous claims about the Amazon forest, and references a document written by activists that doesn’t even support the claim.
Adding insult to injury, not only is that Amazon paper not peer-reviewed, its authors are a PhD forester and fire management expert (not a climatologist), and a journalist. The paper they co-wrote was for the WWF in conjunction with the International Union for the Conservation of Nature.
OK, so let’s juxtapose this scientific issue with a shaky foundation with the standing of Global Warming as a political issue. From a study released January 25th by the Pew Research Center, a left-leaning think tank:
Public’s Priorities for 2010: Economy, Jobs, Terrorism

Global Warming ranks behind Trade Policy, Lobbyists, Moral Decline, and Finance Regulation. Which inspires some level of confidence in the collective wisdom of the American people, less and except the Democratic base.
Dealing with global warming ranks at the bottom of the public’s list of priorities; just 28% consider this a top priority, the lowest measure for any issue tested in the survey. Since 2007, when the item was first included on the priorities list, dealing with global warming has consistently ranked at or near the bottom. Even so, the percentage that now says addressing global warming should be a top priority has fallen 10 points from 2007, when 38% considered it a top priority. Such a low ranking is driven in part by indifference among Republicans: just 11% consider global warming a top priority, compared with 43% of Democrats and 25% of independents.
Considering that AGW offers the ultimate bogeyman (The End Of Life As We Know It!), it’s hard to see the issue getting trumped by, say, Trade Policy if people were buying the story. Let’s face it: Global Warming has become the Gigli of political issues:

It would be funny if the consequences were not so severe
E Pluribus Unum (Diary) Wednesday, January 27th at 12:38AM EST (link)Their hoax was perpetrated by evil, self-serving men including a bunch of turncoat “scientists”. It was leftist crusaders in the media that gave it the power. It was crooks in the American left and world-wide left that used it to punish achievement and freedom-loving people.
And it was a whole bunch of SUCKERS among the great unwashed, and among the squishy-right that allowed this obvious hoax to be perpetrated without asking serious questions.

Not me, sister
E Pluribus Unum (Diary) Wednesday, January 27th at 1:42AM EST (link)I was on top of this before this was a *this*. I’ve been preaching, here at RedState and elsewhere, from the beginning, that the whole thing was a hoax, that IPCC was bought and paid for by leftist America haters (aka the UN), that not only was global warming NOT man-made, but that there wasn’t even global warming.
I was a biology major back in the 80s when the quack “scientists” were having hypo needle fights over whether there was global warming or global cooling.

it is completely IRRELEVANT that ranks X on American's list of priorities
Veronica (Diary) Wednesday, January 27th at 1:09AM EST (link)you two are missing the BOAT COMPLETELY.
what we should be focusing on is that here we have an example of 2, 3 NGOs — IPCC, WWF and International Union for the Conservation of Nature — that are directing the entire world into believing/not believing this facade.
Whether or not global warming is true is not the issue.
You’re seeing organizations that are hooked into the UN.
They create research, briefs and documents from their task forces/meetings/hoopla and funnel it into the UN to shape world policy.
World policy that’s not the best interest of the United States — Copenhagen was proof of this. The money wasted on very Barry, Dick and Harold flying over there IN THE MIDDLE OF A RECESSION is proof of this, too.
PLEASE — peruse the sites Vladimire mentions — google IPCC, visit WWF and the International Union for the Conservation of Nature and see what they do, what they say, where they go.
Clearly, none of it is in America’s best interests.
Don’t think so? When other nations want our cash on the cheap (as in, cheap science) it smells, it REEKS of anti-Americanism.
AGAIN — this isn’t about if the voters give a damn about this as a voting issue — this is about the leftists in this country picking up the socialist agenda -*that is worldwide* and forcing it down our throats and imbedding it in our culture (damn global warming)
If you give a damn about our national identity, you will address how these are ideas on the world stage that are trying to work their way into Americana — global warming! hello!
The voting/top priority issue is secondary.

You’ve been here all of 2 months and 4 days. While I don’t doubt your sincerity, it’s wise to look before you leap. Both Vlad and EPU have been regular diarists on this and other subjects, quite probably long before you concerned yourself with the topic.
This comment reminds me of that critique of one of Neil’s diaries on Net Neutrality, which for us regulars, was a mere update following months upon months of past research into the subject.
This site is searchable. I suggest you use that function before leaping once again before you look.

The carpetbaggers come into communities with misleading information and “money” – our tax dollars as subsidies and increases in electric rates. No wonder UEA/CRU threw out the “raw” data. Their manipulations would be that much more obvious.
