A Daily Show Two-fer: Bashing the Dems Open Thread

For your Saturday morning viewing enjoyment…

The first clip is Stewart’s take on Dem fundraiser Hassan Nemazee, with the money quote from Joe Biden (“If I had my way, we’d be calling him Ambassador Nemazee”):

Then we have a free-wheeling interview with former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich, which made me wonder, “Why won’t they release the tapes?”:

Wow, these are funny

Stewart had better watch himself or the Left will be gunning for him. He’s really starting to swipe at their sacred cows. Blago is engaging in a naughty little boy kind of way, but you wouldn’t trust him as far as you could throw him. Hard to work up sympathy, except you’re talking about the corrupt Illinois machine here very likely makes people disappear for a hobby. It’s a toss-up between him and the state.

The only thing that really peeves me is Stewart’s gratuitous shot at Palin at the end. She’s saner than all these people by a mile.

Government cannot be the solution when government is the problem.

Obama; Manchurian Candidate?

Tbone (Diary) Saturday, September 26th at 12:26PM EST (link)

About a year ago, some here suggested that Obama may have been a real life, Manchurian Candidate. They were attacked and scoffed.

What say you now?

Envisioning when all that is Left is the Right.

I say I was right to call him a Manchurian Candidate.

Achance (Diary) Saturday, September 26th at 12:35PM EST (link)

He’s the consumate dressed up pig. He’s a nasty thug of a union/community organizer communist who can clean up his public appearance. Combine that with the medieval level of ignorance and superstition that the NEA has brought about, and you get The One.

Though unlike the book and movie Manchurian Candidate, there was plenty in Comrade Obama’s background, associates, and even his writing for anyone with a brain to figure out what he really was. The ones I find most abhorent are the so-called conservative/Republican pundits who blathered on about his being a centrist and governing from the center. That is an inexcusable level of denial, stupidity, or both.

Art it was even more obvious as a Senator

Richard Mullins (Diary) Saturday, September 26th at 12:56PM EST (link)

as well. If he didn’t run for senate and won, it would have been all of the above, but the being part of the US Senate made it even more apparent that Obama was a leftist. Those that voted and blathered on about him were naive and ignorant. The stupid thing about these kind of people being elected legislator is that we the people can look up what they do very easily. The same for Hillary as well.

revivefederalism (Diary) Saturday, September 26th at 6:25PM EST (link)

If you’re the most liberal member of the U.S. Senate and #4 is openly a socialist, it’s not much of a stretch to characterize you as such as well.

No kidding on that point

Richard Mullins (Diary) Saturday, September 26th at 11:30PM EST (link)

But of course Bernie never seems to hide behind the donkey, he tells them strait up who he is. On another note, I’ve been thinking today of writing a book. I have a title for it, “Commies in the midst”. I figure that some would want to read it, but only a few.

You're right Tbone, he had been created and planted.

The informed people know he has always been a Communist. Although his side tried to hide it, and succeeded in fooling the general public. I don’t think it is a stretch to see that he had handlers a long time ago, who saw in him the means to an end.

The racism gambit has worked astoundingly well

Achance (Diary) Saturday, September 26th at 1:18PM EST (link)

though it is becoming worn with overuse. I think it was the plan all along and all it takes is a few provacateurs to have a racial incident anytime they want one. Plus, the complicit media will generate on, e.g., the “kill him” gambit at the Palin rally. ANY criticism of anything he does or says is greeted by a scream of racism. He’s not really doing anything but talking so there’s rarely anything really substantive to go after that he has specifically said or done. So, you’re left with going after the nebulous mass of the Congress since that’s where all the doing is going on.

Strategically, we need to drop the opposition down from the macro level and go after specific Congress critters, specifically those that picked up their seats in ’06 and ’08 or others in Red districts. We need to find them, fix them, and destroy them. Comrade Obama’s useful idiots need to feel some pain.

That’s why I wouldn’t classify him as a manchurian candidate. He didn’t hide it, not from the MSM or the Voters. They just refused to believe their lying eyes and ears.

Like I said, for anyone who was paying attention Obama was the communist candidate last election. Straight up.

he was ‘created and planted?” For some time, once I learned what he was (Communist), and having paid attention to who he was surrounded by and all that remains hidden; is it too far fetched to believe as I do. Does that make is a conspiracy theory? IMO, I think there is validity in this hypothesis.

Aaron Gardner (Diary) Saturday, September 26th at 1:46PM EST (link)

He was groomed for this for a long time. But I don’t think he was the only one. If he hadn’t been the one it would have been Hillary. Essentially they are the same, they just took slightly different paths to get where they are. Just like Ayers and the Rathke brothers. Ayers went with the militant “up against the wall motherf%$#kas” whereas the Rathke’s went with the infiltrate and poison from within method, but the goal of each was the same. Overload the govt to cause collapse of the system, create a disenfranchised group dependent on their benevolence, create an “other” to be a scape goat.

The socialist/fascist/communist regimes of the past also followed these general tactics. Whether it was the Jews, the Christians, or even the Communists as it was in Germany. The leaders of these movements are all interchangeable, the philosophy is all that remains static.

Letterman apparently wants to be more like Stewart

WarEagle01 (Diary) Saturday, September 26th at 4:00PM EST (link)

Hence the hard Left turn of his show. The thing is, if he really wanted to become as popular as John Stewart, he would occasionally (just occasionally) take a swipe at the Democrats. But, of course that will never happen because, as we saw last Monday, Dave is just way to far up Barry’s orifice.

Achance (Diary) Saturday, September 26th at 7:31PM EST (link)

No wonder the Left hated it so much. This is a book that literally could get you in the lunatic asylum back in the day, or at least the ideas in it could. OK, a bit over the top in places but very prescient about most things that have happened since it was published in 1964. Read it just to give the lie to the mythology about all the leftism in America being a product of the ’60s and Boomer licentiousness. It was all well underway before the Beatles, Timothy Leary, and the Summer of Love.

Anyway, I gotta go to Anchorage and do some of that make money stuff but when I get back I’ll write up a diary reviewing it. If you don’t want to spend the money, it’s available online and Stormer has also written a sequel from the perspective of 25 years later but I haven’t read that one. For those who go take a peek online or who have a musty old copy, re-read the introductory chapters on the evolution and flavors of communism and please note the usages of the words change, progress, and progressive. Not less than a 100 nor more than 500 words comparing and contrasting their usage in this book and there usage in the current political climate should prove interesting.

Regarding "Manchurian Candidate"

throwback59 Saturday, September 26th at 8:03PM EST (link)

Backing up what some here have said about Obie, Sean Hannity interviewed author Christopher Anderson, who just wrote a book on the Obamas. Sean asked Anderson about Obama’s relationship with terrorist Bill Ayres. He wanted to know if the two were close. Anderson said without equivocation that they had a close friendship.Sean then stated that Obama lied when he claimed they barely knew each other. Anderson replied that Obama felt it was politically beneficial to downplay their relationship, and since Ayres supported Obama he didn’t feel slighted.
Don’t know about anyone else, but I’m getting tired of telling people “Told ya so.”

Manchurian Candidate

dennism (Diary) Sunday, September 27th at 9:16AM EST (link)

The 1959 novel “Manchurian Candidate” was written by a lefty named Richard Condon. A 1962 movie of the same name was true to the book – Mommie Dearest, married to the VP elect, plots with the Commies to become First Lady by “activating” her brainwashed son to assassinate the President.

In the 2004 remake, it’s not the Commies that have brainwashed the son, it’s a corrupt transnational corporation named Manchurian, In further contrast, in the remake, Mommie Dearest has manipulated her son into the VP slot and the assassin’s role is left to an Army major.

Also, in the remake, the mind control is accomplished by implanted chips. If sci-fi movies have taught me nothing, which they have, implanted chips are overused, boring, and actually pretty fanciful gizmos. You’d expect them in an “Austin Powers/Doctor Evil” movie but they seem oddly out of place in a film that wants to be taken seriously. Especially when brainwashing might really be possible. The nice thing about changing the brainwashing to a chip is that once the chip was removed, there was no one to blame but the transnational corporation. No investigation of the Army major, no federal prosecutor withholding tapes &tc.

The 2004 MC cost $80 million and generated $65 million US box office. It probably made back its investment in foreign sales and worldwide DVD sales and rentals. The 1962 MC is merely iconic.

So in view of the above, I recommend that future references to the “Manchurian Candidate” ought to be tagged “1962″ for another couple of years, anyway, after that, the 2004 version will have been forgotten.

Didn't know there was an '04 remake of MC,

Achance (Diary) Sunday, September 27th at 9:54AM EST (link)

so my only reference is to the book, which I had to read for HS American Government in ’67. They used to actually make you read books in high school. Saw the ’62 movie on TV long ago.

I suppose I should be more cognizant of how much of so many people’s frame of reference is rooted only in popular culture; probably as good an explanation as any as to why 52% are stupid enough to elect Comrade Obama.
