I turned on the radio today at a moment that caught me off guard. The big ‘O’ was giving his press conference and I caught him mid answer. (from the transcript)

“The challenge we have is that we have not seen a leak like this before. And so people are going to be frustrated until it stops, and I understand that. And if you’re living on the coasts and you see this sludge coming at you, you’re going to be continually upset. And from your perspective, the response is going to be continually inadequate until it actually stops. And that’s entirely appropriate, and understandable.”

For a moment, I thought he was talking about illegal border crossings.

Tomorrow at the Tax Day Tea Party 2010, participants may be surprised to know that “Flagpoles” are now banned within the State Capitol Grounds (well only if they are wood, metal or plastic).

Our authorites have also banned color guard unless there is a special amendment granted for the permit (oh thank you so much Raleigh, you’re so caring and giving)

Now I keep a close eye on the national and local news everyday. I am a tea party participant …. and I just heard about this on the radio today!

Authorities say this does not infringe our first amendment rights. I would argue that, plus the timing is suspect. However the real concern here is that thousands of participants may not have heard about this new rule either. There is also the matter of infiltrators looking to ruin our day. The Capital Police can strip the permit and shut down the Tea Party if people resist. What is the likelihood of a patriot concerned about his/her country and their rights, being blindsided by this ban when approached by an officer. Lots of scenarios come to mind, but the bottom line is there could be trouble. I guess I’ll be carrying my flag on a fishing pole.

Something of importance to me and many other friends and family of the Marine Corps will be taking place tomorrow. Even though it will be largely overshadowed by the President’s grandstanding, Gunny R. Lee Ermey is trying to push legislation that will recognize the many Marines that die while serving our country.

Currently if a Marine falls in battle, the family will receive a letter from the Department of the Navy with no mention of the Marines.  Ermey, along with U.S. Reps and Senators, are making a push to change the name of “Department of the Navy” to the “Department of the Navy and Marine Corps”. Not to mention, the Marine Corps is an entity that should be recognized on it’s own. Perhaps this legislation would also better spread the military budget around. Currently the Marines get the Navy’s scraps and hand-outs. My son is a Marine and is consistently broke because of the equipment he is required to purchase himself due to poor funding.

It’s hard to believe that our government would propose a bill mandating anything. It’s even harder to believe that we’re not storming the White House with pitch forks. No one wants to be the first, but I’ll join if you start it ….

H.R. 3962, as amended could land people in jail. The typical single person will pay somewhere between 2.5% and 8% of your annual salary in a tax if you choose not to buy insurance. The typical family will pay around 12% in tax if you don’t have insurance. These numbers may be off and if so please correct me.

The typical family also happens to spend between 105% and 110% of their salary each year. Credit cards are generally the problem and in combination with too much house, most of us are already in up to our necks. As I generally tell youngsters, we spend our 20’s and 30’s racking up debt and spend the rest of lives trying to pay it off. Debt in this country is a real problem and the economy burden is finally showing people the light.

So let’s put this in context. How many people will go to jail because they can’t afford insurance or the fines?

I own a small business. My wife and I spend $650 per month on our health policy. Fine if the money is there every month. However, the slowdown in the economy hit us hard and caught up with us a few months ago. On top of that our heat and air unit died. We cashed in some savings and borrowed the rest ($5,500). From there it got worse. With money tight, we had to trim expenses. We discussed that the first thing to go would be the $650 health policy. But fortunately we skimmed by and didn’t have to drop it (by God’s Grace). We did trim up with some other smaller things and have managed build our savings back up a little.

Point is, the average family is hurting. We were lucky but a lot of folks are not. Whether it’s a family that has suddenly hit hard times or big spender that has suddenly seen the light, will our government seriously put Americans in jail if they can’t afford it? I know a family that makes 150k between them, but are in dire straights because they bought too much house and can’t sell it. They have two children and make too much to get a pass. Which one of them will go to jail?

This whole healthcare mandate would be laughable if it were not dangerous. And for our government to propose it should make everyone livid (even Libs). Honest people who have made bad spending decisions are in danger and I want Pelosi and Obama to tell them why they should go to jail. This is an outrage.

With a crimminal trial now being conducted in NY for Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and 4 others, Rush commented that this is not a trial for the terrorist but instead a trial on America. Remember that Mohammed has already tried to plea guilty and that some evidence can’t be used. Also keep in mind that this is an opportunity for these terrorist to stand on a soap box and bash America for torture. Exactly what Obama wants. The leftist are out to “prove” that America is a bad place even if that means the release of terrorist responsible for the worst terror attack in US history. Our own country is on Trial by the leftist!!!!!

Call us crazy, but after weeks of trying to get townhalls with our representatives (not hosted by the SEIU), we decided to hold our own. Our representatives received hand delivered invitations and they all declined (Richard Burr-R included).

We did have a great panel of experts there to answer questions including Dr. Ada Fisher (http://www.dradamfisher.org) who was definately a hit.

As Obama prepares to go on his vacation to Martha’s Vineyard, he decided to stump his Health Care debacle here in Raleigh, NC.

He stated that 1/3 of the Stimulus money has gone to tax cuts. (oh really)

And quote: “we helped stop a recession from becoming a depression,” and explains how the jobs programs in the stimulus are helping. Says tax cuts are helping people buy “cupcakes and other necessities of life.”

I have no words for this.
