Only three days ago I wrote about the national leftwing campaign to paint Tea Party and other patriot organizations as racist, and with that tag, to scare national Republicans away from the Tea Parties. A smart gambit in all likelihood, for you’ll have to admit, the GOP isn’t exactly an oak in these matters of honor and truth. As our political horse they more often prefer to be walked with a lead than to be mounted and lead a charge.
Then, at the same time a 2-day member diarist here made back-to-back posts asking everyone to go to another (“census”) website and donate money for a massive national uprising of public civil unrest and disobedience involving unnamed acts. A little wrong headed, and even provocative, this could only be a coincidence. Or a plant and a bait.
Today the lead stories are the arrests of some midwest (Ohio, Michigan, Indiana) “Christian” militia types with plenty of snot-eyed photos of arms and munitions being hauled away. This means they’re back, too, in a timely manner, I might add. So expect this story to have spider legs, as you don’t have to be Fellini to connect the dots between racism, underground religious nut jobs with guns, and ordinary citizens taking to the streets with placards, armed only with moral indignation about the loss of their rights.
I’m not a conspiracy theorist, in fact was just discussing that this AM with another RedStater on the phone. Just like truthers and proofers, the true conspiracy theorist has to create facts out of whole cloth in order to bolster his theory. Smelling a rat isn’t conspiracy theory…but I smell a rat.
I’m just putting out a warning to those of you here on RedState who may be too eager to engage newbies in borderline talk of shillelagh law. Teatty your cards, watch your topknot. Something may be afoot.
And a man without a horse is afoot.

Vassar- Do you ever sleep?
Scope (Diary) Monday, March 29th at 3:33PM EST (link)You can pump out great diary after great diary. Seems like your mind is on perpetual spin.
As to not engaging those that do not come here with good intentions, so many have asked, so many times, not to engage the trolls. It seems that some may believe that they might have just the right words to change some minds. If you are still a Democrat, you will most likely not change your mind any sooner than Bart Stupak was willing to give up his airport money. Though, I do think Stupak has an Obama appointed job waiting for him, probably before he has a chance to lose in November. He will be the Bar Czar. He went out drinking with Perriello in Washington, until 2-3 in the morning, on the night of the vote.
Thanks, Scope. Actually I'm not sleeping much
Vassar Bushmills (Diary) Monday, March 29th at 3:39PM EST (link)…but the game is afoot.
This is just a caution. No more.
Perriello id Soros’ man, so it’s Soros who has the job for Stupak, I’ll bet. Besides, the Sen Tom can’t hold up that job.
Good warning, Vassar. I am not a conspiracy theorist...
penguin2 (Diary) Monday, March 29th at 3:37PM EST (link)either, but we have seen enough that we ought to be aware that innocent citizens can get caught in the crossfire of malignant aims. We are smart folks here at RedState and our political discourse is about changing out government – via the ballot box – in November.

Vassar Bushmills (Diary) Monday, March 29th at 4:35PM EST (link)…imagine if one morning they did wake up with a horse’s head in the bed!
They’ve already accused us of it.
Right, Senora Penguini?
Aye, ciao
Right, Vassar. :)
penguin2 (Diary) Monday, March 29th at 5:18PM EST (link)I agree, just once, okay maybe twice, the vision of a horse’s head, or their own donkey’s hind end attached to theirs…..

I looked and could find no other diaries
GJ Merits (Diary) Monday, March 29th at 4:46PM EST (link)And I also could find no comments. That is a little bit weird. May be a coincidence, but it still is odd. And to penguin2 above, there are still some of us whose “resistance to Tyrants” (a reference to your signature) still involves a little bit of non-violent naughtiness, just not the level the bozos who were arrested were attempting to try.
I just shot a local story from one of the arrest sites up to my brother in OKC (http://cbs2chicago.com/local/militia.group.hutaree.2.1597138.html) on this as they planned to kill a cop and then kill more during the funeral using what are being called weapons of mass destruction.
All in all, it makes me very worried for my brother, but he is in OKC, although I got a laugh from him once when I pointed out they are the second best trained police force in the country and one of the best paid (no joking – OKC) and they never have any real crime to speak of. I went along as a citizen rider a couple of time and was pretty bored.
He laughed at me and asked me if I ever heard of Timothy McVeigh.
My brother is the guy who turned me from a Democrat to a Republican and then I went Independent with strong conservative leanings. My wife and her family were responsible for changing me from an atheist to a Christian. I still can’t believe I go to church every Sunday.
I was born in Canada so I have an excuse for all the above and the story that is about to follow.
While probably not the right place, I have to relay an “event” that involved my brother, me, and one of his fellow officers. I used to be a little naive as this story will demonstrate. Remember, I was born in Canada. We are a trusting bunch and say eh a lot.
I was along on a citizens ride and my brother dropped his car off to get a ding taken out and we rode back with another officer in their car. I was sitting in the back, and the officer driving asked me if I wanted to have the “full criminal experience”. I said, stupidly, yeah why not. He told me to put my hands behind my back and lean towards the cage. It’s 3:30am in the morning and we are on I-45 heading north with no traffic to speak of. As soon as I lean forward, they both looked at each other and yelled “LOOK OUT, CAT!” and the driver slammed on the brakes. My face went right into the grill – HARD and I spun around and ended up on the floorboards. The guy driving, when he could finally talk, saw my face in the rear-view mirror and said he had never seen such fear on someone’s face in his entire career. Then the face just disappeared with a wide eyed expression and dropped out of sight.
I swear to God, I never heard two guys laugh harder in my life. The driver could hardly remain in control of the vehicle with tears running down his face in a literal fit of laughter. This would have made an excellent movie moment.
It really is a brotherhood with these guys, as I am sure it is with soldiers, fireman, EMTs and other groups who risk their lives for others. It’s good they have a sense of humor.
Just had to share that. I think the linked story above started me thinking about my brother.
I’m still gonna get the bastard back. One day.
I’ll have to relay the only other time I was tricked when I worked as a subsea electronics engineer on an oil platform. I’ll have to get those guys back too.

Vassar Bushmills (Diary) Monday, March 29th at 5:01PM EST (link)We live in interesting times. The old rules don’t apply. It’s not what we believe is the correct thing to do, it how we broadcast it. Your analysis on the supremacy clause should get some of our scholars looking in. It was a god one. I’ve already made up my own mind. We’re about to enter a period where law without the backing of force may not be of much value. I know that is how the other side sees it.
Cheers
I used to sniff out trolls but I am retired
Doc Holliday (Diary) Monday, March 29th at 5:08PM EST (link)but I can tell ya Vassar, 90 percent of the time your first impression is correct. And yes I agree there is a group running false flag ops here. I think it was the night the healthcare destruction vote, I noticed some very odd, inflammatory screen names from newbies. I mean, come on, don’t call yourself something like “M16 on full-auto Bob” and try to be a Moby.

Trust wanes
techsan (Diary) Monday, March 29th at 5:23PM EST (link)Distrust is an outcome, or a maybe a “feature” from Alisky’s point of view, of our President and his administration. He seems to sowing seeds of doubt in people’s minds willfully and dangerously. I do not think an orderly society can remain so if we cannot trust each other to act honorably.
Up is down. Left is right. Spending money saves money. More people covered costs less.
I’ve been smelling something rotten as well with the militia story. I trust less and less of what my government tells me. It’s unsettling to see a news stories on Toyota, militia groups, Isreal, the economy, et.al. that may..or may not…be true. It’s also unsettling to think that a whole segment of our Constitutionally-mandated press chooses to puppet the Presidential quotes at face value rather than challenge them at each step.
Thank you Vassar for the work you’re doing!
In the end, all we have on our side of the debate are facts and history.

Vassar Bushmills (Diary) Monday, March 29th at 5:46PM EST (link)…to be used by all. The evil is not in the tactics, but the intent. My advice, just smell. I hate not trusting, but hey, 97% of all the people of the world must go thru this every day…and have for 1000 years!
And please drop any “constitutionally-mandated” as an adjective for the media. We (RedState) fill that function now, among others.
Cheers
deep breath

Hmmm, Friday on Drudge
texasgalt (Diary) Monday, March 29th at 9:32PM EST (link)there was the results of a poll (push Poll?) showing 25% of Republicans thought BO is the Anti-Christ.
and then today on Drudge:
FBI launches raids on Christian group which is ‘preparing for battle against an Anti-Christ’. . .
Pure coincidence, no doubt.

Interesting.
huskerchuck (Diary) Tuesday, March 30th at 1:34PM EST (link)Not surprising, unfortunately. Like you, VB, I hate not to trust. But I’ve had enough happen that there are plenty of times I don’t trust. Not to say, my first impression is STILL to trust first, but be cautious. (Another way of saying… what Reagan said… I believe the quote was ‘trust, but verify’?)
Well written, VB. Very insightful, and a lot of food for thought.

God Bless, and I’ll be back soon!
