So Pelosi says the CIA is lying…. and therefore she is lying
The head of the CIA comes out and says the CIA has lied about “stuff” since 2001… and therefore he is covering for Pelosi

At this point I think if Jesus came out and said Pelosi was telling the truth most people here would claim he was covering for her.

Never mind the fact that the CIA has been shown to have lied to congress and the American public on countless occasions…. Its obvious Pelosi was lying… score your political points no matter what I guess.

Pelosi said she wasn’t briefed on waterboarding. Panetta and a several members of congress said she lied.

This is different from a letter, which we haven’t seen, that allegedly admits that the CIA didn’t share all the information it had with Congress. Panetta does not say the CIA lied. Silvestre Reyes says the CIA lied on one occasion.

When republicans (Newt Gingrich for one) called out the CIA for “treason” when the NIA came out saying Iran was not perusing nukes?

Or when U.S. Rep. Peter Hoekstra (R) accused the CIA of lying about the circumstances of the missionaries that were shot down….

Is accusing the CIA of a coup less explosive than accusing them of lying? because I don’t recall anyone attempting to crucify Gingrich, and he provided as much proof as Pelosi did with her accusations.

Still didn’t respond to my points though…. Glad you can fall back on your awesome mocking skills though.

“Silvestre Reyes says the CIA lied on one occasion.” lets assume we can take this at face value… He says one time, I just pointed out two others… and I can go back to at least one convicted CIA director for a 3rd.

So we have 4 examples right there of CIA lying…. And there are countless others out there. Even if Pelosi is lying (which has not been proven by anyone) the CIA has lost their credibility a long time ago.

And my point above was not that Pelosi or the CIA is right/wrong in this current situation, but that this is purely a political issue on the side of the right to score political points…. otherwise those statements by Gingrich and Hoekstra would have been condemned far and wide by the same people who are accusing Pelosi of lying.

But the true moral of the story is the following….. The CIA is in the business of lying, hiding the truth, and manipulating the truth. Accusing the CIA of lying is like saying the sky is blue… its stating the obvious.

actually you didn’t point out any times. You simply call faulty analysis “lying” which a) doesn’t make you look particularly smart and b) doesn’t make it a lie unless I was guilty of lying when I flunked my trigonometry exam. (As to Gingrich, using Gingrich’s hyperbole as being dispositive of anything but his penchant for hyperbole is either either boneheaded or disingenous, the choice is yours.)

We have one instance of Reyes claiming, without evidence, (it is SO secret, you know) that the CIA lied. That is it.

Pelosi was not only called out by the CIA but by other members who were at the briefing with her.

ahhh so when Gingrich calls out the CIA for lying/breaking the law its “hyperbole”, but when Pelosi does it its the worst thing ever….. gotcha!

oh and the plane incident had nothing to do with “faulty analysis” like you claim…

sound like Hoekstra is citing faulty analysis? sounds more like Hoekstra is calling the CIA a bunch of liars! Not only did he accuse them of lying, but of criminal activity….. where are all the calls for the arrests for the people responsible? or for Hoekstra to retract his statement?

CIA in responsible by statute for producing the NIE. You may not like what is in them, but calling them liars is just silly when you consider this is the agency that predicted in the late 80s that the USSR’s GDP would exceed that of the US within the next decade. How about the USMC intel report in the summer of 06 predicting Anbar province would fall to al Qaeda? Was that a lie? Oh, yeah, the Marines are in the business of telling lies.

Again, on the plane shoot down you’re creating a lie where there is simple sloppiness of reporting. Must be great to never have made a mistake in your life. I’m envious.

CIA briefers lying to Congress is a serious crime, whether or not they were formally under oath. We

know that the CIA has in fact told such lies, because House Speaker Pelosi and the Intelligence

Committee Democrats have told us that.

We can’t let this get swept under the rug. Those lying CIA briefers need to go to jail!

That means we need an investigation where Nancy Pelosi repeats her accusations, under oath with

cross examination, against the CIA. Likewise the CIA briefers need to be put under oath and

interrogated about Pelosi’s accusations. Then whoever is shown to be lying goes to jail for perjury

etc.

You’re with me on this vaene, that we need an investigation with witnesses being cross examined under

penalty of perjury, right? So you need to help persuade Nancy Pelosi to call the Rethuglicans’ bluff

and support such an investigation.

I can’t understand whe Nancy Pelosi opposes an opportunity to repeat her accusations under oath, and

have the liars go to jail. I know she’s telling the truth, so she can’t possibly be worried about going

to jail herself for perjury. I guess she’s just trying to be too nice.
