This morning I was awoken by my alarm clock powered by electricity generated by the public power monopoly regulated by the US Department of Energy. I then took a shower in the clean water provided by the municipal power utility. After that, I turned on the TV to one of the FCC regulated channels to see what the National Weather Service of the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration determined the weather was going to be like using satellites designed, built, and launched by the Nation Aeronautics and Space Administration. At the appropriate time as regulated by the US congress and kept accurate by the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the US Naval Observatory, I get into my National Highway Traffic Safety Administration approved automobile and set out to work on the roads built by the local, state, and federal departments of transportation, possibly stopping to purchase additional fuel of a quality level determined by the Environmental Protection Agency, using legal tender issued by the Federal Reserve Bank. On the way out the door I deposit any mail I have to be sent via the US postal service and drop the kids off at the public school. After work I drive my NHTSA car back home on the DOT roads, to house which has not burned down in my absence because of the state and local building codes and fire marshall’s inspection, and which has not plundered all of its valuables thanks to the local police department. I then log into the Internet which was developed by the Defense Advance Research Projects Administration and post on freerepublic.com and Fox News forums about how SOCIALISM in medicine is BAD and because the government cant do anything right.

I received an email today that included a nice little story relating to the health care bill. Probably not a true story but still very clever and a fun read. I thought that it could use a little more detail and information to truely make it fit what is going on. So I’ve included my version below the original. Let me know what you think.

–From a teacher in the Nashville area

“We are worried about ‘the cow’ when it is all about the ‘Ice Cream.’ The most eye-opening civics lesson I ever had was while teaching third grade this year… The presidential election was heating up and some of the children showed an interest. I decided we would have an election for a class president. We would choose our nominees. They would make a campaign speech and the class would vote. To simplify the process, candidates were nominated by other class members. We discussed what kinds of characteristics these students should have. We got many nominations and from those, Jamie and Olivia were picked to run for the top spot. The class had done a great job in their selections. Both candidates were good kids. I thought Jamie might have an advantage because he got lots of parental support. I had never seen Olivia’s mother. The day arrived when they were to make their speeches. Jamie went first. He had specific ideas about how to make our class a better place. He ended by promising to do his very best. Everyone applauded and he sat down. Now it was Olivia’s turn to speak. Her speech was concise. She said, “If you will vote for me, I will give you ice cream.” She sat down. The class went wild. “Yes! Yes! We want ice cream.” She surely would say more.. She did not have to. A discussion followed. How did she plan to pay for the ice cream (Health Care)? She wasn’t sure. Would her parents buy it or would the class pay for it. She didn’t know. The class really didn’t care. All they were thinking about was ice cream.. Jamie was forgotten. Olivia won by a landslide.. Every time Barack Obama opened his mouth he offered ice cream and 52 percent of the people reacted like nine year olds. They want ice cream. The other 48 percent know they’re going to have to feed the cow and clean up the mess.”

Alright now back up a little bit to where Olivia won and where there were questions regarding who was going to pay for the ice cream…

Visit My Website:

USAWatchmen.com
I mention Mr. Obama and Socialism in the same sentence to some of my Liberal friends and they give me dirty looks, and tell me I’m out of my mind, and then they close up and wont talk any longer. I send them articles that shows Mr. Obama has Marxist and Socialist ties, but they don’t read a word and then delete the evidence. They have made up some fairy tale about what Mr. Obama is, and they will except no facts or logic that proves otherwise. I’m beginning to think that it wouldn’t even matter if Mr. Obama came on Television and told everyone flat out that he is a Socialist and he will be steering our country into Communism.

I’m not going to list every association that Mr. Obama has with Marxists and Socialists. You’ve seen all these before, and they didn’t seem to matter
before the election so why would they now. The truth is, some definitions of Socialism sound pretty good at the surface. I’m sure most people not familiar with politics, government, economy, finance etc. would find that it sounds pretty appealing. Peace, Love and Happiness… Right?

Definitions for Socialism:

Wikipedia:
Socialism refers to the various theories of economic organization advocating common or direct worker ownership and administration of the means of production and allocation of resources, and a society characterized by equal access to resources for all individuals with a method of compensation based on the amount of labor expended.

Merriam-Webster:
1 : any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods
2 a : a system of society or group living in which there is no private property b : a system or condition of society in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the state
3 : a stage of society in Marxist theory transitional between capitalism and communism and distinguished by unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done

For all of you that are completely naive. There actually is a Communist Party in the United States. And yes they did support Mr. Obama for President. Take a look at their website.
http://www.cpusa.org/faq/

Here is some information from the website for those of you that are too scared to click the link:

The Communist Party stands for the interests of the American working class and the American people. It stands for our interests in both the present and the future. Solidarity with workers of other countries is also part of our work. We work in coalition with the labor movement, the peace movement, the student movement, organizations fighting for equality and social justice, the environmental movement, immigrants rights groups and the health care for all campaign.

But to win a better life for working families, we believe that we must go further. We believe that the American people can replace capitalism with a system that puts people before profit – socialism.
This is a great video with some Socialist quotes:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLI-N6pSkk0

More quotes:

“I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.”
- Barack Obama

“My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you’ll join me as we try to change it.”
- Barack Obama

“To avoid being mistaken for a sellout, I chose my friends carefully. The more politically active black students. The foreign students. The Chicanos. The Marxist professors and structural feminists.”

- Barack Obama

“I learned to slip back and forth between my black and white worlds. One of those tricks I had learned: People were satisfied so long as you were courteous and smiled and made no sudden moves. They were more than satisfied; they were relieved — such a pleasant surprise to find a well-mannered young black man who didn’t seem angry all the time.”
- Barack Obama

“They cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”
- Barack Obama

“It’s time to put the common good, the national interest, ahead of individuals.”
- Hillary Clinton

It’s time for a new beginning, for an end to government of the few, by the few, and for the few, and to replace it with shared responsibility for shared prosperity.”

Sonia Sotomayor’s favorite quote was from a man that ran for president six times on the Socialist Party ticket.
“I am not a champion of lost causes, but of causes not yet won.”
- Norman Thomas

Look at this quote from Norman Thomas:
“The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”
