I heard her make this statement and thought, "shows how much she knows." I do, in fact, like Bachmann and Foxx and love it when they stand up for their beliefs, which, more often than not, reflect mine as well. It's another example of the libs thinking they are so much smarter than the conservatives, like we conservative women just aren't savvy enough to know what we want. Oh, I know wat I want all right, and I'd be happy to tell Ms. Wasserman Schultz if she'd listen.

I draw a distinction between "pro-choice" and "pro-abortion". A pro-choice person would not outlaw abortion. However, a pro-choice person would not expect government to fund or encourage abortions. And certainly,a pro-choice person would not villify a woman who chooses to give birth.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz vs. Bay Buchanan

If it were the WWE it would be a pay per view cage match.

Sorry, that thought just popped into my head when I read your post. Not that I regard Bay as the leader for conservative women, just that she frequently leaves her male opponents curled up in the same position.

just like guys are oriented to go slug someone. One is not better than the other; it's just different. Frankly, I personally experienced that a lot of women take advantage of chivalry with respect to men, knowing that societal prejudice will not allow the man to defend him adequately.

Female v. female in some ways is worse, (derived from what I've heard of my sister's experiences), than female v. male or male v. male, with the verbal sniping, catfights, gossiping, backstabbing, envy, etc.

My grandfather once said you never put a woman to lead other women. I never understood what he meant until I heard a story going around the university scene about a female engineer who was intelligent and really good-looking. Because of her interests, she hung around with the guys at national conferences and made the other women envious because she wouldn't sit around and talk about 'girly things'.

When a man criticizes one of those "fun, fearless females" on substantive grounds, the misogynist card gets slammed down immediately.

Especially since people tend to go after women in a more personal way, as opposed to the way they go after men.

I HATE pulling the woman card, but there's just something awesome about hearing ~*fun, fearless females*~ (yes I just said that, realizing I'll be judged forever for it) stand up for other women!

Of course, when that happens, the woman who speaks up is usually labeled a heinous beyotch who can't keep her trap shut, but when that happens we can all laugh and say snarky things about the haters :)

your diary and hit the button again. It unreco'd it. I'm so sorry! Surely didn't mean to do that, I'm just so accustomed to having to hit it multiple times before it "takes". So it my name disappears, please realize that it was an accident!

One of my role models was a great-aunt who passed at 97 yrs. of age in 1990. She was an amazing lady. She raised her 7 younger siblings, taught school in the early 1900's, purchased a whole section of land without going into debt on a teacher's pay, and didn't marry until she was 36. She raised goats, poured her tea from a silver service, collected bottles, loved fine fabrics and memorizing poetry. She was a complete woman. I hope you get to meet her someday. I think you would likeand enjoy each onther's company.

have lost a lot if not all their ?femininity?and individuality in their war to be equal. you are right about our inner mamma bears. The female of a species is most dangerous when defending her home territory and family.

I should have added "such as" to that sentence. One spokesperson is limiting isn't it? This way we can speak our minds and keep our privacy.

I heard her speak at Angelo State back in the 90's. She is an amazing woman. I had always pictured her as a battleship, but she is a tiny, little lady. Proof that big things come in little packages. I wanted to be her when I grew up, but I'm not eloquent or patient enough.

Jaded, especially the part about Sarah Palin and Karina, the part about how "feminists" believe that we are somehow out of touch with reality and don't know what it means to be a woman.
In fact, I would argue that it is THEM that don't know what it is to be a woman and certainly don't embrace their role as women that God created for us, but then again, that is their problem.....most of them don't believe that God created man and woman were created by God, but we evolved from club-wielding, knuckle-dragging, grunting, hairy apes who beat their females and forced them to do the child rearing.

Frankly, Whassername-Shultz can go shove it where the sun don't shine with her opinions about conservative women. My guess is, if she had to debate womanhood with a conservative female, she'd curl up in a fetal position and suck her thumb. Liberals are so delusional and misguided that when it comes to taking a stand for something, they don't know how to present an intelligent argument, so they instead trash the person.

I can only imagine what type of man marries a liberal feminist woman. I can tell you that every liberal male I've ever seen on television looks like he lives in Weenieville. They are not manly, and apparently, not assertive either or would tell these feminazi's to hit the road with their haughty, proud, arrogant, foolish, ideals and don't let the door hit 'em too hard on the way out. They've been allowed to run rabid with their warped beliefs (i.e. Abortion is a "woman's rights" issue--forget about the unborn child--it has no rights.) and in the era of being politically correct, people have let them devalue the family unit with their grotesque misrepresentations of what a woman's role is in life. And just for the record, I have a college education and choose to be a full-time mom.

Thanks for writing this diary. It was great to get this off my chest and learn what others on here feel about this subject.

Nothing against the Amish, but I think there is a misconception out there that conservative women are unnaturally blinded to "reality". We haven't been enlightened enough yet to understand the progressive mold. In reality, they are the ones who are blinded. All of us work hard, some even get paid to do it! Some homeschool our kids, volunteer our time and energy where we choose, and support our families in ways invaluable to them. If someone was actually paid to do all we do, they would be paid over $300,000 per year. A lot of us are throwing in political activism in the mix as well because they have awoken our inner mama bear. The NOW crowd and other feminazi's had better watch out. They haven't seen and don't understand how protective we are of our families, our country, and our way of life.

Isn't it ironic that many progressive women suddenly get the urge to mother when they are older? Too bad they miss the whole point of family.

Heeheehee...

I'd just as soon NOT have one spokeswoman for conservative femmes, because you know as soon as one poked her head up, we'd have rumors about racy underwear and sex tapes and tattoos and this one time on spring break when she and three guys went skinny dipping in a waterfall in Costa Rica. Annoying!

I agree with Jaded...we all add a little bit. We're a collective spokesthingy! It's nice because there are times we disagree, which reinforces the point that conservatism isn't this hard-line, puritan doctrine. Conservatism can be smart, and sexy, and snarky, and intellectually challenging. It's not all dusty documents and paying homage to Thomas Paine (or whoever) 4 times a day.

I like to think when I talk about Conservatism and the FREEDOM it brings that it speaks to ALL women (and men). If I had a wish of whom I would like to get up and KNOCK DOWN N.O.W it would be Sarah Palin (no I don't want her to run for President) I think she embodies all the virtues of being a Conservative woman, STRONG, SMART, HARD (when needed), SOFT (when needed) and a damn fine example of a hardworking woman who surrounds herself with her family as she makes the MOST of her life. The ultimate reason is she believes that LIFE is guaranteed to all and she is unafraid to say so!
