Last year at the Republican Convention we were introduced to a young man who on the surface seemed like an all american boy. He had gotten his girlfriend into trouble, but he and his girlfriend made the decision to go ahead with the pregnancy, keep the baby and get married. They knew it would be hard, but Bristol knew her parents loved her and would back her 100%. It looks like she made the same assumption about the boy.
I could revert to military mouth, but that would not be appropriate. The poor boy just wasn’t raised right. Bless his little (and I mean little) heart. There are many real, adult men that post here that could help educate him properly. Mailoux comes to mind first, but many here have shown the value they place on commitment, loyalty and marriage. This boy has none!
People have wondered why more women are waiting till later in life to get married this selfish, little boy is a prime example. Todd Palin must have the patience of Job and huge dental bills from gritting his teeth and not punching the turkey. Over all the lack of respect toward Bristol and her family is heart wrenching, but Bristol was blessed to have found out about him prior to marriage.
Please, people who are brave enough to be parents, raise your children to respect and honor others, to be loyal, loving spouses if they find their mate. Maybe, Mailoux and his wife, Mom2, Janis and Eric could author a Red State book or column on relationships.
Thank you for letting me vent.

No problem with this kind of venting - and welcome back to RedState
civil truth (Diary) Wednesday, July 15th at 4:10PM EST (link)From the little I’ve read about Levi, it’s a case of the nut not falling far from the tree in terms of following along in the footsteps of his parents regarding morals and values – before and after impregnating Bristol.
Not to mention viewing women as just a net to get your puck into in order to score and boost his ego. And Bristol being the governor’s daughter just made her a bigger net.
But surely far, far better that Levi outed himself before marriage rather than the Palins taking a rattlesnake to their breast. And Levi has found that for which he has lost his soul, or rather that for which he has given his soul in exchange.
Bristol on the other hand – , even thought she’s chosen a more difficult route, is on an upward path – and she knows that she is not alone but has paracletes who have come and will come alongside her.
The greatest evil…is conceived and ordered (moved, seconded, carried, and minuted) in clean, carpeted, warmed, and well-lighted offices, by quiet men with white collars and cut fingernails and smooth-shaven cheeks who do not need to raise their voice. Hence, naturally enough, my symbol for Hell is something like the bureaucracy of a police state or the offices of a thoroughly nasty business concern. -C.S. Lewis

TxTess, your diary is a very relevant topic indeed . . .
mailloux (Diary) Thursday, July 16th at 11:14AM EST (link)Commitment, loyalty, selfless love, and honor are words that many young folks are familiar with . . . they know they’re English words and might even have a superficial definition of each. But, few know an in depth definition and even fewer live those virtues.
Take honor for example. I often ask my 9th and 10th grade catechism students to define what it means. After much discussion among them, they offer only a nebulous definition at best. It’s so generalized and nonspecific, that the virtue of honor is almost unlivable in their personal lives. If you don’t even know what honor is, then you can’t possibly keep current and future commitments, which impacts relationships and the vocation of marriage.
There is much work to be done in the culture wars and more battles to be fought. Your diary topic is a very important one. If we, as a society, continue to dismantle marriage, then we cripple the traditional family. When the family is weakened, so too is society. In my opinion, the social/cultural issues are at the core of everything. To not approach these topics is to put the cart before the horse.
By the way, I greatly appreciate and am humbled by your regard for my writings. Thank you for your very kind words.
Please do post more diaries. I look forward to reading more of your thoughts on matters of the day!
Take Care, mailloux
