I recently relented on Facebook, and against my better judgment (and under “intense” family pressure), started with the “Farmville” time suck.

If you’ve never, you probably shouldn’t. You tend cartoon crops, and every one to three days are made to click on a maddeningly slow UI to harvest your ‘toon crops, plow your ‘toon field, and plant ‘toon seeds so you can start the whole vicious cycle over again.

To make matters worse, should you neglect to tend your “crops”, friends and family are there to properly chastise you and leave little signs on your cartoon farm to inform you how messed up you are for letting things go to waste.

*Sigh*

I “bought” a chicken coop. This means every three days I also have to click on that to harvest invisible cartoon eggs, which I’m sure are put to good use somewhere. There are “mystery eggs” in there sometimes also. What the heck is that? I never see what’s in them, I’m forced to spam my friends to get them to take them. The only time I’ve everfound mystery eggs is around Easter when I pull one from the fridge that may or may not be hard-boiled.

Speaking Tuesday to the 2010 Legislative Conference for the National Association of Counties, Pelosi began the windup of her healthcare pitch by alluding to the controversies over the healthcare bill and the process by which it has reached its current state. Then, just after saying, “It’s going to be very, very exciting,” Pelosi gaffed, telling the local elected officials assembled that Congress “[has] to pass the bill so you can find out what’s in it, away from the fog of controversy.”

Gaffed?

Not likely. She really doesn’t want to let on what horrors await America in her stinky “mystery egg”, because she knows already we will hate it for what it will be; a disaster for us all.

Plus, you’re all too stupid to understand anyway.

This is a nifty illustration of why Pelosi, and not The One, will play the role of boogeyman in GOP attack ads this fall. Accusing the public of being too ignorant to grasp the genius of an unpopular liberal program is what a rank-and-file lefty would do; using that alleged ignorance as a reason not to slow down on the legislation but to ram it through is the mark of an arrogant, power-hungry, sneering full-blown liberal cartoon. What she’s arguing here, put simply, is that the left has a mandate because you’re too goshdamned stupid to understand what’s going on. Well done, Madam Speaker. You’re parody-proof.

“Parody proof”? Pelosi is a walking parody of what our system of government was supposed to be once.
