Breitbart’s rant at CPAC 2010 has now been displayed everywhere, with clips taken that suits the purpose of whoever wants to spend time cutting them and pasting them together.

The left puts their spin on them, as usual, as can be seen in most of their edited versions. They care only about whatever trouble O’Keefe may or may not be in for making the undercover videos, and how the tapes were made, but care nothing about what the videos actually show; the systemic corruption that is endemic at the Acorn organization. Maybe that’s overly harsh? Maybe there are some who really try to good there. It’d be nice to actually see that, but even the Acorn 8 turn out to possibly have less than honorable motives.

What had Breitbart incensed was Max Blumenthal’s calling O’Keefe a racist, and Breitbart one as well by association. And there ol’ Max was, right in front of AB. Perfect timing.

What the left doesn’t know, or what they’re only now slowly figuring out, is that Andrew Breitbart thrives on confrontations like this. He enjoys them. He seeks them out. And what they should also realize is that many potential targets of Alinsky style attacks are inspired and influenced by his example. Lefty attack dogs need to change tactics. They need to come up with a new rulebook, because just calling people names based on bogus arguments doesn’t really pack the same punch it used to.

Breitbart is turning the Alinsky Rules back on the left, and lefties don’t like it. For AB to get in their faces all on his own with little or no backup is the way themselves would like to, but can’t unless they have a mob of like-minded drones in tow.

For those wondering why Andrew Breitbart went nuclear at this year’s CPAC conference, Max Blumenthal had this to say over at Salon earlier this week about conservative filmmaker James O’Keefe:

[O'Keefe's] right-wing admirers don’t seem to mind that O’Keefe’s short but storied career has been defined by a series of political stunts shot through with racial resentment. Now an activist organization that monitors hate groups has produced a photo of O’Keefe at a 2006 conference on “Race and Conservatism” that featured leading white nationalists…

According to One People’s Project founder Daryle Jenkins, O’Keefe was manning the literature table at the gathering that brought together anti-Semites, professional racists and proponents of Aryanism.

Blumenthal also wrote on his blog: “Now, here is a question Breitbart: Why are you paying and defending a racist?”

If this seems like old news after a week, it isn’t. It’s barely heating up, in fact, if you’ve noticed the Twitter buzz (mostly from the #p2 types and the #tcot trashers) asking “Is Andrew Breitbart Breaking Down?”
