Attn: GOP Re: Alinksy Rule Number 5

Obi-Won used it on you today

First off, when Obama said he wanted cameras and reporters in the room, you had to know something was up. [Update; apparently both sides thought it would be a good idea. My bad.]

Something was, and you’d better counter it;

“What happens is that you guys don’t have a lot of room to negotiate with me,” Obama said. “The fact of the matter is, many of you, if you voted with the administration on something, are politically vulnerable with your own base, with your own party because what you’ve been telling your constituents is, ‘This guy’s doing all kinds of crazy stuff that’s going to destroy America.’ ”

Just because what it looks like he’s trying to do is the unthinkable, doesn’t mean it can’t be happening.

I refer you to Aliksky’s rule No. 5;

5. “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon. It is almost impossible to counteract ridicule. Also it infuriates the opposition, which then reacts to your advantage.”

The sad fact is, what Obama and the left wants to do to “fundamentally change America” requires that they destroy America from the bottom to the top. It’s not tinfoil hat theory, that it’s sometimes taken as such is the result of the tool of ridicule they use to make it appear like crazy talk to even suggest.

They’ve had over forty years to set up the fundamental change they want for you and me.They burrowed deep into society like termites into the woodwork of a house, and the damage they’ve been doing to date has largely been ignored, or limited to a small chunk here, another small one there. It all adds up to where we find ourselves today; on the edge of a precipice.

There isn’t time to hope and pray your more centrist colleagues in Congress will do the right thing. The “Big Tent” needs to be put over the house and the house fumigated to get the burrowing worms out from their positions of power.

The NRSC and others don’t seem to be up to the fight. The reason I say this is because they seem to be blocking real conservatives like Chuck DeVore and Marco Rubio at every turn. I’m beginning to suspect that if either of those two candidates does win their respective primaries, they’ll be cut off by the NRSC from funding to favor more “centrist” campaigns.

The left has taken an all or nothing approach to legislation with the “Prefect Storm” generated by Obama’s election and the bullet-proof majority they now enjoy in Congress. The GOP needs to keep holding the line until We The People can muster up enough wins on the ground to get either a majority in the Senate or House, or at least enough to put the brakes on the machine.

When the left and their friends in the media call you “The Party of No”, you need to show them your alternate plan. Slam it on the podium in front of you and say; “Not no, but no to that and yes to this.”

Getting back to Alinsky, I refer you to Rule No. 12;

12. “The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative.”

There is no excuse for you to ever be empty handed. You plans should be in hand and ready to go. You have friends on the right who will blog day and night to get your quotes out, and real grassroots people who genuinely care about this country, its Constitution, and founding principles to counteract any astroturf campaign the left can muster.

Remember one very important thing, though. We began a mighty struggle last year to get you all back in power despite all you did and didn’t do that got us into this mess. We do this not for you, but for God and our country.

If you don’t show us you’re going to stand with us and fight, we’ll be forced to waste valuable time that we don’t have and can’t afford putting the Big Tent over the GOP and fumigating you worms from there first before we can clean out our government.

Please save us that one step.

The Democrats and the left made one huge mistake thinking they would separate the Teaparty movement from the GOP. We never were about you to begin with. You just happen to be our last best hope.

At least act like it.

Fight.

We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France,
we shall fight on the seas and oceans,
we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be,
we shall fight on the beaches,
we shall fight on the landing grounds,
we shall fight in the fields and in the streets,
we shall fight in the hills;
we shall never surrender

So awesome. Almsot like reading my mind. Agree with every point.. and then some.

The Alinsky/Marx WH and Dem Congress are a thousand times more calculating and Machiavellian then most want to believe. They have been carefully planning their actions for a long time….while much of country asleep

We have to fight DemCare and associated socialist initiatives…. and fight them hard! The current GOP is not up to the fight in current form. They are not showing any sign of FIGHT and they are committed to liberal candidates….STILL.

If GOP starts coming around…GREAT. IF NOT…..MUST FUMIGATE…!!!
I wont like it either…but …too much is at stake….our country!

but keeping in mind: RfR is good in the same way that having detailed blueprints of the enemy camp is good. Intelligence about how they’ll try to get you is always great, but Alinsky’s ‘rules’ all boil down to “the end justifies the means.” It is our belief that this isn’t so that makes us Conservatives.

That's my problem

Erick Brockway (Diary) Friday, January 29th at 7:57PM EST (link)

The left does anything possible to destroy its enemies (us). We have to get into that mindset as well (sadly).
It’s like, the only real way to defeat terrorists being to out-terrorize them. Make them afraid for their women and children. If that doesn’t work, then the bullet in pig blood technique.
Like you said though, Randy, we’re ‘better than that”, and it’s true.
The only thing left is educate the ones who still have the capacity to learn, and bury the ones that don’t move on from those who won’t learn to the next.

I agree with you

We need to go for an all out destruction first of the people that support the progressivism platform, just like they try to do to conservatives every day. Once we have that destruction, then we can set the rules to be more genteel. You fight a war at the lowest common denominator then when you win the war you set the rules.

on our battlefield, you have to take the fight to their battle fields. They are not nice, they don’t play by anyone’s rules, they are out for blood. As Alinsky has said, there are no arguments against ridicule, you only make the enemy go on the defensive. Time for the nicey nice Republicans to learn that lesson. Engage ridicule, they will be the one’s on the defensive. Then we win the war.

and I'm not saying there aren't SOME valid ideas...

randy streu (Diary) Friday, January 29th at 8:23PM EST (link)

but I AM saying we want to be above the inherent deceit and immorality of the Alinsky method.

I’m all about ridicule.

It's also a technique we enjoy

Decency with sarcasm wins

crofiscon Monday, February 1st at 8:02PM EST (link)

We must remain composed when facing the Progressive ridicule, be polite but stand firm to our convictions and we’ll win the debate. Mike Pence had great appearances on CNN and MSNBC after the GOP summit with BHO. The anchors served him the usual thinly veiled ridicule of GOP, but he stuck to simple, convincing responses. On 2nd and 3rd serving of the same mash, he turned on an understated sarcastic smile. He was really saying, “I know what you’d like me to do – get defensive – but I’m better than you”. The anchors had to sign off with a frustrated sigh.

“Not no, but no to that and yes to this.” will work! Demonstrate our difference!

I hope the Republican establishment heeds your advice, it will make it so much easier for us and less painful for themselves…

Very few actual voters actually saw that. But those who actually did have some idea of how far the GOP has to go to keep up with the Alinskyites.

Trust me when I tell you this: the Beltway GOP has no idea what it is doing, nor has it any idea what it is up against. These are largely the same people who made up the Bush Communications machine and the McCain Campaign.

They are utterly useless against Obama and the New Left. They do not understand Alinsky. Few of them have bothered to pick up Rules for Radicals. None of them understand that the Left is after permanent control of the state and dictatorship.

Country Club Republicans and the Bush crowd do not understand radicals and never understood no-limits politics. It’s like the Mensheviks vs. Lenin.

The Right is only now starting to understand the tactics

Below is a link from April 2008. Without offense to you long-time RSers, you can replace the word “business” with GOP or “the Right.”

The frustration for many of us former “Alinskyites” has been trying to wake people up to the radical assault that has been going on for decades:

http://employerreport.blogspot.com/2008/04/why-american-business-is-losing-war-to.html

Alinsky’s Power Tactics are but part of the “Rules for Radicals.” Here are a few more:

1. One’s concern with the ethics of means and ends varies inversely with one’s personal interest in the issue.
2. The judgment of the ethics of means is dependent upon the political position of those sitting in judgment.
3. In war the end justifies almost any means.
4. Judgment must be made in the context of the times in which the action occurred and not from any other chronological vantage point.
5. Concern with ethics increases with the number of means available and vice versa.
6. The less important the end to be desired, the more one can afford to engage in ethical evaluations of means.
7. Generally, success or failure is a mighty determinant of ethics.
8. The morality of means depends upon whether the means is being employed at a time of imminent defeat or imminent victory.
9. Any effective means is automatically judged by the opposition to be unethical.
10. You do what you can with what you have and clothe it in moral garments.
11. Goals must be phrased in general terms like “Liberty, Equality, Fraternity,” “Of the Common Welfare,” “Pursuit of Happiness,” or “Bread and Peace.”

Until the more Americans understand the nature of this war, the fact that it will not be won or lost by elections alone, America will fall to those who are bent on destroying it.

Should our enemies’ arrows blot out the sun, then we shall fight in the shade.

4life (Diary) Saturday, January 30th at 1:05PM EST (link)

progressives and ridicule is their favorite tool. I think there are effective counters. I found that people would notice and comment about the civility of my reply in the face of name calling and personal attacks. It does make them look bad. I especially like Mike Pence’s purposeful, respectful way of articulating his positions. I like using sarcasm more than ridicule, because it isn’t necessarily personal. You can show an idea to be ridiculous with sarcasm, whereas ridicule attacks the person. Also, when ridiculed, the main thing is to not give in. The point of ridicule is to shut someone up. So, when ridiculed, just say the same thing, only louder.

Great strategy, 4life.........

it would be great if someone could make us a list of the Alinsky rules and an antidote to each one of them. I am not as smart as you guys, but I can learn!

I wrote a diary on defending against Alinsky tactics

Achance (Diary) Sunday, January 31st at 9:15PM EST (link)

awhile back; just look under my diaries. Just a list of the rules isn’t particularly useful unless you can related them to situations you are seeing. The book is cheap and may be available online; read it cover to cover and the covers too.

Character and backbone will yield similar results.
Republicans in Washington have short on both in the years since Reagan.
This has been the source of their failures, not because they didn’t understand Alinsky.
Now, it is true, knowing your enemies tactics is useful, but to take up Alinsky’s methods instead of Reagan’s , I can’t see it.

The Dems have always out-flanked the GOP in “flash” — having the MSM in your back pocket is a potent weapon: one that even Alinsky couldn’t have foreseen.

The GOP/Republicans/Conservatives win on issues. THAT BEING SAID, IF YOU DON’T FIGHT BACK, YOU LOSE.

Bush (like his dad) never fought back against the MSM — which was far bolder during GWB’s tenure — because both men thought just being right (about national security, etc.) was enough.

Just being right — or being RIGHT — isn’t enough. Scott Brown proved this.

I got my “Don’t Close Gitmo” and “Don’t Blame Me, I Voted For The American” magnetic stickers at www.keep2theright.com

Current GOP is irrelevant and useless

traversecityconservative (Diary) Monday, February 1st at 10:24PM EST (link)

I actually think “we” (conservatives) can win without – and inspite of – the current GOP. After a while, they will be phased out and replaced by us. Unlike union members who won’t take over union leadership to protect their own interests, we have a higher stake in the future because we’re not just fighting for ourselves – we’re fighting for principles and people who will come after us. We need to start looking at how to take over the GOP as well as the Congress. What is the process? How long does it take? They are no good at marketing, messaging, direct mail, fundraising, campaign ads or anything else.

You're wrong, sort of.

Brian Hibbert (Diary) Monday, February 1st at 10:50PM EST (link)

We can’t win on our own. It’s the 3rd party route and doomed to failure and guaranteed to get Democrats elected. This is a call for splitting the vote which is always a losing strategy and will always get the person who is LEAST like your ideal elected….

But then you hit on the real way to win. Taking over the party from the ground up. But it’s not an overnight win or a single battle. Has anyone ever mentioned the Precinct Project to you? Go take a look. It has the answers you seek.

“If the Nation can issue a dollar bond it can issue a dollar bill.
The element that makes the bond good makes the bill good also. The
difference between the bond and the bill is that the bond lets the

It is absurd to say our Country can issue bonds and cannot issue currency. Both are promises to pay, but one fattens the usurer and the other helps the People.” – Thomas A. Edison

I wonder if Alinski read Screwtape and used it as a “how to” guide.
