I’ve been serving now for 18 1/2 years now. Once to Iraq while many of my friends have been twice. I even lost a friend, and if her death had been paraded by HuffPo “patriots” I don’t know what I would’ve done.

could NOT want to take the people who staged three separate attacks on OUR soil (Trade Centers, Pentagon, Pennsylvania) to task – I was so mad, angry, violated, etc. I CELEBRATED our involvement in this war! What was America supposed to do? Sit idly by like some emasculated pansy, and say “oh, you hurt me. I’m going to cry”? Heck no! You fight back!

When my oldest son was in the 9th grade, a “new kid” at his private Christian high school, there was this kid who decided to bully him. They were in P.E., and this kid started hitting my son on the shoulders. ( He’s a swimmer, and was in mid-season training – pretty sore shoulders at that time). He was asked politely to stop, asked not so politely to stop, my son got up and moved away, still the kid kept hitting him. The coach was not paying attention (the girls were on the b’ball court at the time). Finally, my son had enough, and hauled off and slugged this kid in the mouth. It was the first time he had ever hit ANYone, and he was shocked at what he had done. Especially when the kid started bleeding from a split lip. My son went to find a trusted teacher, and told her what he had done. The kid was OK, just stunned, but my son was traumatized by his actions.

BUT. Both the teacher, and later the principle, told him that under the circumstances, he had done the RIGHT thing and would not be disciplined. They told him he was being attacked, and had every right to defend himself. And that kid never bothered my son again. In fact, they ended up being good friends. My son earned his RESPECT by sticking up for himself.

So there is a lesson here. At least I think there is. I do not advocate violence on the offensive, but when someone attacks you (or your country), you have every right to fight back and defend yourself (or your country).

What is so difficult about this? I worry about our country, that we no longer teach our boys to be men, and to defend their honor and that of our country.

Anyone who says that a flag-draped coffin is a disgrace needs a reality check.

Someone who uses a photo of a flag-draped coffin as propaganda against the war is someone who doesn’t understand the very nature of war, or the men and women who fight.

That flag, the honor guard, the respectful salute of every person on the ground… It is one of the most respectful things we can do for our honored dead. It signifies that this man or woman died in defense of liberty and freedom.

But liberty and freedom are things the Left simply doesn’t understand.

So they call that flag-draped coffin shameful and use it as pretend propaganda.

Fine. Let them take their photos. Let them show the world the sacrifice Americans make in the name of freedom. Real freedom, not the farcical ideology of the Left.

I will consider each photo a monument to the soldier, to their sacrifice. “Here is a soldier who loved liberty so much that they gave their life in its defense” will, for me, replace every caption.

…that poses the worst problem, though the idea of photos of our dead being used in our politics is distasteful. The REAL bad part is when those photos go out and terrorists start using them for THIER propaganda.
