I was channel-surfing the other night before bed, trying to figure out what would bore me to sleep without getting me all fired up. Hit the National Geographic Channel, something on about “Global Warming”…nope. History Channel, something about Aliens (the kind from space not the other under-the-fence ones) and UFOs. Definitely not.

Then I hit the Discovery Channel and stared transfixed while some celeb narrator tried to tell me, paraphrasing; somehow all these chemicals came together in exactly the right amounts and from this came forth an ameboa, a tree, Alan Colmes, and my arthritic right knee in some Primordial Soup Theory, also known as abiogenesis.

Interesting, I thought, this should do the trick. I’ll be asleep in no time!

So everything came together; Ma Nature in “her” infinite wisdom balanced everything and from it sprang forth this New World full of life and chirping birds and rainbows. And Democrats. Mother Nature was playing a trick on us.

As I was almost asleep, it hit me what they just described. Obama and Chicago Politics!

Now I had to get up and go look.

The Politics of Chicago and its corrupt history go way back to 1855, and probably earlier to the first blacksmith in town who no doubt bribed the first mayor to keep his brother blacksmith out.

More recently though, Obama’s meteoric rise to power wasn’t all simply handed to him. He fought for it.

As a community organizer, he had helped register thousands of voters. But when it came time to run for office, he employed Chicago rules to invalidate the voting petition signatures of three of his challengers.

The move denied each of them, including incumbent Alice Palmer, a longtime Chicago activist, a place on the ballot. It cleared the way for Obama to run unopposed on the Democratic ticket in a heavily Democrat district.

“That was Chicago politics,” said John Kass, a veteran Chicago Tribune columnist. “Knock out your opposition, challenge their petitions, destroy your enemy, right? It is how Barack Obama destroyed his enemies back in 1996 that conflicts with his message today. He may have gotten his start registering thousands of voters. But in that first race, he made sure voters had just one choice.”

Not unlike the Primordial Soup Theory, I’m expected to somehow take it all on faith that surrounded by the ooze, created and nurtured by it, its very spawn in fact,  none of the corrupt DNA from the pool in Chicago, (more aptly the Primordial Slime) came off on Obama. Didn’t touch him anywhere in fact.

So much for sleeping.

I found one writer at The Political Enquirer who asked;

Chicago has a well-deserved reputation for political shenanigans, though it’s less noticeable than in the Original Mayor Daley days. And Obama has been in the thick of it for several years.  The question the Democrat hierarchy has to be considering:

A British-Iraqi billionaire lent millions of dollars to Barack Obama’s fundraiser just weeks before an imprudent land deal that has returned to haunt the presidential contender, an investigation by The Times discloses.

Are stories like this one- the tip of an iceberg, or just an ice cube floating by?  If there are such icebergs in Obama’s life, will the news media be as effective at masking such problems as they were with Bill’s extra-curricular activities?

Indeed.

I had to put it all together in my head;

1. He went to church for twenty years but never heard Wright diss the the USA.
2. Started his career in the home of Ayers, but they really weren’t that close.
3. Came through all this corruption we see today in Chicago without even being touched by it. Didn’t even know it was happening.

Imagine the weird dreams my Commander in Chief-Elect inspired in my head that night.

Ugh.
