Was wary of this...

Third Street (Diary) Thursday, September 24th at 11:38PM EST (link)

…after watching Tom DeLay make an ass of himself on “Dancing With the Stars”. I shouldn’t have worried; Rush was more vibrant and entertaining than Leno himself.

What really shocked me was discovering for myself just how bad the new prime-time “Jay Leno Show” is. Really, this thing is an unmitigated disaster. Not that it isn’t fun watching NBC self-destruct, but still.

“Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure nineteen nineteen six, result happiness. Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure twenty pounds ought and six, result misery.” –Wilkins Micawber, “David Copperfield”

the only thing worth watching is the monologue

and a few of the skits he brought from the tonight show. I DVR it an watch those while ffwding through the rest…

I’m kicking myself for last night though because I didn’t know Rush was to be on and deleted it without checking to make room for recordings…maybe it’ll be on you-tube

The “Big Tent” analogy isn’t the correct one…the correct one is a MAGNET…we need to be a MAGNET that draws these independents in who are sick and tired of what’s going on in WashingtonFred Thompson

That was the first time I have watched it.

I thought the show was pretty uneven, as in not well-joined together at the seams. Maybe “choppy.” I’m not a big Joss Stone fan, and her affectations and gestures while singing were irritating. Then, in the duet part with Smokey Robinson, the only descriptive word I could come up with was “creepy.”

I think the show is now the nearest thing to a variety show there is on TV. The talent shows are all one-trick ponies. I did enjoy the young stand-up comedian. I suspect Jay is trying to pass on the break he got from Johnny Carson.

This isn’t a show I’d want to watch 5 nights a week.

“The press is so powerful in its image-making role that it can make a criminal look like he’s the victim and make the victim look like he’s the criminal. If you aren’t careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed and loving the people who are doing the oppressing.”– Malcolm X, Audubon Ballroom, December 13, 1964

yeah its pretty bad

I watched the first two, well about half of the first two. But then again, I no longer find much to like on tv anymore, except a handful of shows, news, and football, and maybe a few history channel programs.

Show was great

But don’t kid yourself. That audience wasn’t planted. I just don’t think Rush really gave 2 s…s. Just think about it for a second….
Scenario 1. Rush says he’ll go on the show if they agree to let his people give out the tickets for the audience and let him do most of the talking and say whatever he likes.
Scenario 2. NBC expects Rush to look bad and get booed for bashing their savior. They invite him on, not expecting him to agree. It just so happens to be Rush’s vacation, he likes jay personally, and he want’s to show off his weight loss. So he agrees, and figures, what the heck. Let’s see how these liberals feel when i bash their messiah.

Just judging by GE’s stock, and the way Emmelt is running the company, ratings on a show are much less important than towing the line for Obama’s agenda.

This was great.

There is no way this audience was a plant. What it does show is that more and more Americans are shocked and horrified at what they see happening to their country. They may not be republicans or even conservative in their thinking, but they don’t want this socialist agenda that the democrats are pushing either. I also believe that is shows the democrats are in a lot more trouble than most people realize, especially if they keep going in the direction they are.

“The trouble with our liberal friends is not that they’re ignorant;
it’s just that they know so much that isn’t so.” — Ronald Reagan

I caught this for a few minutes

kyoufuu (Diary) Friday, September 25th at 9:08AM EST (link)

when they were talking about GM. Rush’s best line was “Jay, you own more cars than Obama’s ever seen.”

From what I saw, Leno brought a spoon to a knife fight, while Rush showed up with a machete. In the small bit that I saw, Rush was completely able to dismantle Leno’s line of reasoning as well as his loaded questions.

“There are more instances of the abridgment of the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments of those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations.” — James Madison

“I swear by my life, and my love of it, that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine.”

Green Car Challenge

The Green Car Challenge was very funny: Rush argues that he should get bonus points, not penalties, for hitting Al Gore and Ed Begley.

If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom — go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen! –Samuel Adams
