What has happened to Fox News and why hire Mark “Argentina” Sanford?

South Carolina former Gov Mark Sanford has been hired on by Fox News. He will be a paid contributor.  Sanford is the one who, you’ll recall, said he was going off hiking the Appalachians.  Instead he merrily skipped off to visit his girlfriend in Argentina.

How could Fox think anyone would be interested in this individual’s opinion, commentary, or insight.  Unless, they go to him in a “…speaking of really bad judgements, what are your thoughts Mark?”,  kind of way.

I gave them props when the hired Juan Williams but cannot understand the reasoning behind this. Are they going to hire Anthony Weiner next to navigate us through the up and coming new technology?   Maybe Helen Thomas might sign on as special commentator on Israel-Palestine tensions.   Those last two should really pump up their fair and balanced cred.

And has anyone else taken note their news slant has been shifting leftward lately.  Not as bad as msnbc but at least leaning as left of center as cnn.

They had a good piece of the pie that worked out very well with ratings and profits. Are they now trying to alienate a sizeable segment of their audience?  Confused.

Dailer caller has a piece up but NY Times originally covered it.

Remember Newt?

Dafyd (Diary) Saturday, October 22nd at 3:46PM EST (link)

They might want him on there for the same reason they want Newt Gingrich on there. Remember Newt? The fellow who not once, but twice cheated on his spouse, got divorced, and married his mistress? That fellow who’s now running for President?

Apparently they’re more interested in his political beliefs and observations than his personal conduct. The nerve!

…Fox likes to snap up political cripplese like Gingrich and Palin. Pulls in the fanbase without costing ‘em too much.

I have been banned from RedState as tarnover and aardpig and I’m not very bright.

Hey Douche A Lot Of Us Still Love Sanford

The guys a genius! And he was my candidate for 2012 until he threw it away.

But I couldn’t think of a better pick up for Fox then Sanford, he is truly a very, very smart commentator and a very good conservative. Shame that the next time he could think up ever pursuing office again is in like 15 years.

Never said he wasn't intelligent, but I would go along with stupid

He deliberately deceived. He was unethical. He was censured and just darn lucky he didn’t get impeached. He broke a trust with everybody. Family and constituents and out-of-state supporters as well. Oh, wait. Like me. See yeah, I was in his corner. I lived in Sumter for awhile many years ago and still keep up with goings on in SC. Back then I thought he had a shot at going much higher. Till he broke the trust.

I find it strange a major network such ESPN would pull Bocephus following his comments about a golf game between Obama and Boehner. Can’t diss the office of the pres! His comparison may have been extreme to some, but it was merely a comparison. While in the other corner another major network, Fox, decides ethical malfeasance looks good on a resume.

Am I perfect? Nope. Never claimed to be. But I am smart enough to realize if you’re in public life you have to have better sense. His wife knew about the affair. They were seeking counseling. He obviously wasn’t paying attention. So they should have ended it there. Could have done it quietly and maybe the ethics charges wouldn”t have been brought out. While he may not need to be ostracised from society, rewarding him for poor judgement by giving him a high profile job on the tube is a bit much. There are other things he is qualified to do. After all he is intelligent.

Are you suggesting

powertothepeople (Diary) Saturday, October 22nd at 7:37PM EST (link)

that anyone who has a failure in their life should be marked with a scarlet letter and forbidden from any public job and that a private company can not hire who they please?

If he was running for political office, his affair and lack of morals should be a major reason not to support him. But his affair does not and should not prohibit him from being in a job whether you think so or not.

But I guess you have lived a perfect life never doing something wrong in order for you to be up on that high pedestal standing in judgement of us sinners.

Since the rules prohibit colorful language, will simply tell you to go get stuffed.

I have no problem with Fox soliciting

Gingrich or Sanford. They can be instrumental in delivering the conservative message.
Whats even better is that if they did have Newt as a permanent contributor, Mike Wallace already knows he woul;dn’t be able to get away with a lot of BS, as Newt has already bitch-slapped him once during one of the debates hosted by Fox (in which Wallace was one of the moderators).

I used to think Wallace was fairly conservative, but not so much in the past few years. He seems to lean more moderate and in favor of compromise just to get something passed.

Still a little baffled about Fox hiring Juan Williams as a permanent fixture on Fox News Sunday, after he was fired from NPR. It doesnt matter much, since he was there anyway before the blowout about his comment that many believe was his support for ethnic profiling of middle-easterners. Funny thing though, it seems to me that Williams also seems to have moderated somewhat after being hired at Fox, Could it be that now since he is employed by Fox, they may have asked him to tone it down some?

Anyway, I dont get all that excited anymore about watching Fox News Sunday as I used to.

In the beginning, God created earth to be an extension of his vast Kingdom and his LOVE was so great that he wanted to share it with man, whom he created in his own image and likeness and gave him free will.
To this very principal, the Founding Fathers of our nation decreed that freedom is a God-given in-alienable right of all the people.

Fair and balanced and . . . toned down a notch

Fox Noise is definitely pitching that “big tent” for sure. As it does, it will lose the edge that once made it stand out from the MSM.
