Justin Amash Loses a HUGE Donor.

Is this the beginning of some real fallout for his stance on the impeachment of the President?

Rep. Justin Amash from Michigans 3rd congressional district has started to receive blowback on the financial side of the political decision he made last week on his analysis of the Mueller report. His conclusion was that Donald Trump should be impeached. My colleague Bonchie covered this earlier this week at Red State Justin Amash Should Put His Money Where His Mouth Is On Impeachment

The DeVoss family which lives in Amash’s district in West Michigan announced they had not contributed to Amash this cycle and had no plans to do so in the future.

According to the Detroit News

The powerful DeVos family of West Michigan is ending its longtime support of U.S. Rep. Justin Amash, the libertarian Republican who has repeatedly clashed with President Donald Trump.

The family has not made any political contributions to Amash this cycle, and “they have no plans to do so,” said family spokesman Nick Wasmiller.

The GOP megadonors decided to cut ties with Amash before his latest dust-up with the president and his assertion that Trump engaged in “impeachable conduct,” Wasmiller told The Detroit News.

Amash on Wednesday declined to address the DeVos family’s decision or when he learned of it.

“I don’t have any reaction,” he said outside the U.S. Capitol after speaking to a group of eighth-grade students from his West Michigan district.

If the name sounds familiar that is because Betsy DeVoss is President Trump’s Secretary of Education. Her husband Dick ran for Governor in Michigan in 2006 and they both have had a huge influence in the state GOP and funding of candidates and issues they are concerned about.

Amash in his calculation of announcing the impeachment stance must have known that he would not be getting any type of checks from the family of a cabinet member. However, this could be a signal for other regular donors in the GOP that it is ok to cut ties with him. That, mixed in with that he has two other people already announced to challenge him in the GOP primary will make for an interesting battle through next year.

Plus you never know if the President will chime in during that time. I’m sure Amash does not care but he is in for a rough road here.

Get ready West Michigan, things are going to get interesting.
