MONEY MONEY MONEY

Here comes the Bern.

Just a lil over 24 hours ago, the lovable Muppet look-alike from Vermont, Bernie Sanders, announced his candidacy on NPR in his home state for the Democratic nomination for President in 2020. Most people had this reaction, ” Awww, that’s cute.”

Not anymore.

Senator “Free Stuff” had a super impressive first day.

According to AXIOS

Sen. Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign estimates he raised $5.9 million from 225,000 individuals donors in the first day following his official announcement on Tuesday morning.

Sen. Kamala Harris, the biggest fundraiser in the race to date, raised $1.5 million from 38,000 online donors in the 24 hours after she announced her presidential bid last month.

That is not a wake-up call for the other dwarfs currently running; that is a five-alarm fire and you had better take a look at where you are right now and why you are here. That is a super-impressive first-day take AND he tripled Sen. Harris.

Bernie and his Bernie bro’s and bro-ettes have been stewing since the nomination was ripped from them by Team Hillary in 2016. I recall reading some of the gnashing of teeth and moaning after the Donna Brazille book came out and pretty much confirmed what they suspected all along.

Now, a first-day take is just that and just a small part of the many pieces to an election cycle. We still have 621 days to go until Nov 3, 2020, so getting too high or too low is not the best course of action. However, this shows that Bernie has been slow walking to this process all along. He planned on running and has laid out how to do it.

Sanders now is the sixth Senator competing in the primary. He joins Sens. Kamala Harris of California, Cory Booker of New Jersey, Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, Kirsten Gillibrand of New York, and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts. With all these Democrats running for President, who will be there to help Chuck Schumer with the agenda?

The only thing we have to wait for now is to see if Joe Biden and Beto O’Rourke jump in and try to dethrone the first-day fundraising king and make this a real mess to watch.

I can’t wait for Feb 28th to get here!!
