The Way I See Things: Three Months Later

Hello everyone, glad to be back on RS. I’ve spent the past three months playing football for Roncalli High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. I had a good season and I hope now to post more often, even though wrestling starts soon as well. Anyway, enough with the introductions.

Three months ago, I wrote about two core methods that I believe President Obama and the left are using to trick the American people: Perception and Deception. Funny rhyme, huh? Well it remains unchanged. With the health reform bill slithering its way through congress, the left wing machine is more active than ever. Nancy Pelosi and her colleagues continue to flat out lie to the American people about the 1,990 page bill that is being shoved down the throats of Americans. For example, page 110 of HR 3962 creates a program for the funding of abortion via government dollars. stating: “…The services described in this subparagraph are abortions for which the expenditure of Federal funds for the Department of Health Services is permitted…” In regular language, it creates a system of Federal-funded abortions. How, then, did our esteemed leader have the gall to say “One more misunderstanding I want to clear up — under our plan, no federal dollars will be used to fund abortions” To say this lie to a crowd of supporters is one thing, but to be completely dishonest with the Americans our president serves is morally reprehensible.

However, one thing that has changed from August is that the facade of a government that can be trusted and can spend unchecked is starting to crack. Americans are realizing that during last year’s election, they were deceived by a man who spoke articulately and promised not only action, but results. We have seen this action and we are beginning to see the results, though they may not be what President Obama intended. People are starting to realize that they were, and still are, deceived by a man who favors reelection over the fate of the country he leads. The Real Clear Politics average of Obama’s approval rating is still hovering around 52 percent, down 10 points from the summer. The more Obama talks, the less America buys into what he is saying. President Obama and his cronies in Congress remain in full campaign mode, saying and doing anything necessary to get reelected. All the while, they forget the very people who voted for them and their wishes. This, I believe, will result in a very different congress being sworn in after the 2010 elections.

Though public favor has been significantly altered, President Obama still remains a major threat to the future of this nation. The agenda of progressives will cripple the economy, punish wealth, and ship jobs overseas through higher taxes, cap and trade, regulation of pay, controlling of banks, etc. Obama will stop at nothing to ensure that his will, not that of the American people, be done. Conservatives must have a similar attitude towards our representatives. Call and let them know that they represent the interests of their district, not their own grandiose personal agenda. Granted, you don’t necessarily represent the interests of your district, either, but in doing this, at least your voice will be heard. Until election day 2010, all we can do is voice our displeasure. It will have to suffice.

Godspeed,

The Way I See Things: A Teenager’s View on Today’s Predicaments

The way I see things, our nation is on the verge of bankruptcy. The national debt is over 11 trillion dollars, the deficit is over a trillion, and we are printing more and more money as the GDP sinks. Why, then, do our representatives in Washington, including our president, insist that “the worst is over?”  Well, there are two parts to this answer:

A): Perception. Many in Washington believe that, because of legislation passed, government has caused the economy to turn for the better. To believe this requires an air of narcissism because politicians believe that only they, and in turn only government itself, can fix the economy. This notion is entirely false, for the only thing that can fix the economy is the private sector in conjunction with government. The job of the government is to promote growth and to defend the Constitution.

B): Deception. As lachrymose as it sounds, our president, Barack Obama, is deceiving this nation. He continues to say anything and everything he needs to get reelected. In this sense, President Obama, along with his cronies in Congress, are in ‘campaign mode.’ Elected officials are not elected for the sole purpose of getting reelected by their constituents. They are elected to serve the people of their district, state, and, ultimately, their nation. This type of venality has no place in the United States of America.

That said, many liberals reading this would question the legitimacy of these accusations. Many Americans are reluctant to believe that their politicians are flat-out lying to them. Indeed, many liberals in Congress are not being dishonest to their constituents, per se, they are stretching the truth about the results of government programs like the Stimulus Bill, the Energy Bill, and now, National Healthcare.

We are supposed to believe that these things will “revive the economy,” although we were never given a clear indication as to how nearly 6 trillion dollars in government spending will help revive an American economy that is riddled with debt to China and other countries. In all this spending, President Obama has forgotten about one part of the economy that makes things work better than any government: the private sector. Ever since the birth of this country, the private sector has been the vibrant force, and the heavy anchor, to the economy. The unemployment rate is continuing to climb, even with the stimulus package that was supposed to create or save 3.5 million jobs. It will continue to increase unless this healthcare reform is stopped.

Our country faces daunting tasks, and an even more daunting future ahead of her. The things that have been proposed and passed threaten the very principle from which our economy is based: Capitalism. To regulate the cost of services or to regulate the salary certain people receive or even to fire the CEO of a private company forebodes an ominous future in our country. We must ensure this does not happen to our nation.

Godspeed,

An Open Letter to Governor Mark Sanford

Dear Governor Sanford,

When I heard news of your affair on television a few hours ago, I was, like so many of your constituents, shocked and appalled. You have not only endangered your own political future, but you have also tarnished the name of the Republican Party. You should be ashamed of your unfaithfulness, lying, and most importantly, your sin against God.What you were thinking, I do not know, but you clearly did not learn anything from the exploits of people like Bill Clinton and John Ensign. You were the chairman of the Republican Governors Association! This position, along with any other job of public service, carries with it some standards, one of which is remaining faithful to the woman you are married to.

That said, I also feel empathy for your situation, though it was brought on by your actions and your actions alone. Though the media may make your life more difficult than it already is, you knew what you were getting into. I feel empathy for your family, especially your children, who have to endure the media circus that will intrude upon their lives and the lives of your friends. This sort of thing should not happen to anyone, especially someone with children. I have seen the hate and vitriol spewed from your rivals. This sort of indecency is unacceptable and will only diminish the reputations of those on the left.

You must remember your wife, Governor; the one person in the world you took a vow to stay faithful to, for better or worse, for richer or poor, for health or for sickness. She is the one person that God set on this earth for you to love deeply and sincerely with all your heart, soul, and body. I sincerely hope that both of you make amends both to preserve your marriage and to preserve your relationship with your four boys. Only then can you continue to lead an honest lifestyle. If you are truly, and I mean truly, sorry, God will forgive you. As I have said, He is the only one that matters.

To close my letter, governor, I would like to talk about your future. Not just your political future, but your marriage as well. Do not listen to the people that say you should never enter the realm of public policy  again; these are the same people that parade around Bill Clinton at fundraisers. Do not listen to the people that doubt your marriage will continue, for these people don’t know what you are going through, and hopefully they never will. Don’t let the rear echelon dictate your future. Spend some time alone and with your wife to reflect and then decide your future, both political and marital. If you read this, Governor, I hope you will consider this advice.

Sincerely,

TYT

P.S. To all on RedState, this is my first real post, so go easy on me.
